Okay... I just gotta put forth a little hypothesis here...
Pam's Little Hypothesis: RAFAEL DID THIS ON PURPOSE!

The THE Facts: The erroneous THE post was posted at 11:32:20 p.m. The real CES post was posted at 11:35:30 p.m. The THE "apology" was not posted to the THE thread until 9:44:03 freakin' a.m. the NEXT morning (see for yourself... it's like #15 or something).
Sub-Hypothesis A: Even IF Rafael didn't know the THE post had gotten posted when he erroneously posted it (hey, maybe he belched and got kicked back out to the main list and just figured "oops" without looking around to see what he had done), he would SURELY have known it when the real CES post got posted. When he got kicked back out to the main list of posts, it would have been sitting there RIGHT UNDER his real post, with HIS name on it!!!!!!!!! He might have missed it once, but twice? I think not!
Benefit-of-the-Doubt #1: Just for the heck of it, let's be generous and assume that Rafe didn't realize what had happened until the real post had posted.
Benefit-of-the-Doubt #2: Let's also assume that Rafe was on his 6th martini by this time and it took him a little while to figure out what he had done. At 7 seconds per martini, that would add an extra 42 seconds, placing the erroneous post realization at exactly 11:36:12 on the night in question.
Exhibit A: Elapsed time from 11:36:12 p.m. to 9:44:03 a.m. is 10:07:51. It took him ten hours, seven minutes, and fifty-one seconds to address his erroneousness???????
Sub-Hypothesis B: Who among us would allow such an embarassment to sit for that long? Would you? Would YOU? How about you sir? Of course not! He WANTED those 14 silly little THE replies! It was all a plan! A ruse! A sham I say! We've been had!!!!!!!!
Exhibit B: It's not like he passed out or anything, because he came BACK into the chat room after he posted the posts. I was there! (Paw! Get the logs out! Just what WAS he talking about when he returned?!!!)
Time for some expert testimony. Anyone?
And Rafe, you just pipe down for awhile. If you are found guilty I recommend that Ex-Twi banish the THE post to Post-Oblivion for all eternity. And YOU, you despicable little rat-poster, inflating your own postedness above even the the the the the great and noble TWI I, II, & III!
Well! You should be ashamed! Mock us eh? Your punishment will need to be swift and without mercy (I'm workin' in it but could use some suggestions from the gallery).

Hey I think you may be right Pam!! And something must be done!! Let's see we can't M&A him it's already been done.
I've got it!! Let's put him in a Waydale kilt and sit him in a chair. And then we can make him sit there and listen to MOG teach ie scream about being a grease spot by midnight. While the light reflecting off of MOG's head shines in Rafael's eyes. And Mog's spit is like the Chinese water torture on Rafael's face. And then we can feed him microwaved Peeps!!

Yes, I realized right away that the THE thread was a mistake. I corrected that mistake less than three minutes later, as Pamlosangeles noted.
However, I do not know how to delete a thread, so you can't really blame me for keeping the THE thread on the message board. (That's like blaming Gorkon's daughter for failing to cry when her father died. Hardly conclusive, since Klingons do not have tear ducts).
So, yes, I replied when I saw there were more than a dozen responses to THE, and only five or six responses to the thread I was trying to post in the first place.
And now to think I might have orchestrated this whole thing as a ruse! a scheme! a plot to lay claim to the hottest thread in Waydale history!
I only have one thing to say about that...
