    Ruined Piano?

shellon - once again your writing has blown me away! you're rendition of the piano, and its story - you should submit it! g'damn girl!!! p.s. i hope you don't take the mother to court - good lord! kids do stupid .... all the time...she just shoulda come clean with ya, like ya said, but maybe she didn't have proper fetchin up... mercy now i'm into the story big time - how would it read if the piano were telling the story? i bet it had some tales to tell even before your dad got it... hmmmm
  4. oh gosh shell - i'm just freakin' happy you were born! it'd be such a different cafe without you - happy day dear friend.
  5. I learned tonight that Google is censoring the information it provides to Chinese citizens doing searches. If I understand correctly, certain key words will keep a certain site or page from coming up in the search results. This concerns me. My first thought was, oh my god! if they can do it there, surely they can do it here. Why, the government is already listening in on phone calls and monitoring emails without a search warrent - what's to stop them now? As I see it, the government has started it's slippery descent down the path of denying us our constitutional rights "for our own good." Then I thought, thank goodness I made sure my children know how to research outside of the internet. Lastly, I pondered how many people live in China, and how this censorship could ultimately give an entire population (once they're all hooked up and "searching") a very scewed perception of the world in general or certain things in specific. I admit to being naive sometimes. Does someone want to tell me why I shouldn't be concerned?
  6. johnny - you STARRED in the spilled paint can fiasco? uh oh looking forward to hearing that one!
  7. you tell a good story, johnny! i really enjoyed reading that!!
  8. wow! that's the first time i've heard of the billboard!! i have chills - well done, and kudoos to those who had the gumption to accomplish it. i'm so glad you had a picture to post too - what great graphics! ...and then what happened paw? ;)
  9. hmmm - i guess since i'm the only one that has seen the movie, i am compelled to answer the question on how the movie portrayed gay sex. it was tastefully done. it was honest. it was not porn. The hetero scenes were by far the more graphic, but also tastefully done - good for a mature audience. but going back to jerry mcguire, man! what a hetero promo THAT movie was! whoa - right up in my face, promoting love between a man and woman, advertisements, reviews, commercials, billboards - they had a real agenda with that flick...i remember! it was disgusting! i think it might've been a hollywood conspiracy...but wait...hollywood promotes homos...i'm confused.
  10. I judge a movie - not on how much it's grossing in the box office - but on whether i enjoyed sitting in the theatre and having a story played out for me on the screen. If it had good dialogue, cinematography, acting, if it makes me cry, laugh out loud, or think about something that needed more thought - that's a good movie - and my $6.75 (eat your hearts out - i found a comfie cheap theatre with free parking) was well spent. Furthermore, I applaud Hollywood when they attempt to stretch people's minds to view a topic in a new light. Many of us were brought up to view homosexuals as freaks, not as flesh and blood humans deserving the same quality of life that god-fearing (heh) heterosexuals deserve. This wasn't "the message" of the movie at all, but having the main characters be homosexuals brought homosexual love a little further out of the closet, perhaps encouraging society to give them a little free air to breath. McMurtry's screenwriting was great! The woman who wrote the story (forgot her name) did a good job. The horses...oh the horses...so lovely. And, the acting couldn't have been better, imho, by all involved. The scenery fueled my travel lust - oh to see wyoming again! anyway, i think it's funny how many posters on this thread haven't seen it (and/or won't see it) because of it's subject matter. It's about love - and it might make you cry, laugh out loud or think about something that needed more thought. of course, i liked king kong too, so what do i know?

    Marriage

Frankly, I think marriage is vastly overrated! A year after my divorce (married for 1/4 century), I realized my husband ending it was the best thing that could've happened to me. I love being single! It's a "new administration, people!" I embrace life! I like myself. I enjoy my solitude (whenever I can get some), and if I want to boogie, well then - I boogie. Sure sure - the divorce year was hard, dark and depressing. I couldn't stand seeing couples holding hands, yada, yada...my safe little plan for how the world should turn got derailed, and that was upsetting. I got over it. And as long as we're all on George - here's my advice (no charge): 1) Don't make any major life decisions for 12 months, just ride the year out - it's not easy the first year. 2) If you find yourself telling your story to anyone/everyone/all the time - pay a therapist to listen instead...you'll be glad you did later on. 3) Start investing in yourself again. Figure out what turns you on, and then do it a LOT, or at least whenever you can. 4) If the bed is too big sometimes, get some extra pillows - snuggle up with them, they work really well and don't cause near the amount of grief a spouse can. 5) Lose the Quasi Moto image - it's unbecoming and not true. Everybody here at GS Cafe has only the highest regard for you!!! You are a good man, and we love you. 6) Drink lots of water, get plenty of rest, and call me in the morning (wink, wink). Finally, to answer the poster's question, The marriage commitment IS alterable. There are circumstances under which the "contract" becomes void.
  15. bumping this back up to the top, 'cause paw - it's hump day. two days left in this week in which you promised another installment! gotta feed your adoring public, doncha know! hugs
