I am totally disgusted with politics and the way our country is going...

What we need is Alice Cooper! That's right...The villian of rock and roll...inspiring people to rebel and spit in the face of the machine that eats us alive. Alice Cooper is the embodiment of individuality and defiance...and his music is good also...

I say that America needs Alice Cooper! To look the snake in the eye and to go about our anarchistic ways...

Running for cover

Hi Cafe denizens. Well, as if I hadn't done enough running in the Corps, here I find I have entered a half marathon. Why?? Dunno, seemed like a good idea at the time. Have been beating the feet and frightening the pavements (sidewalks) in the area for a while now. It was especially fun training when there was a lot of snow on the ground.

I will be raising funds for Genesis Trust, which is a Christian charity that offers practical help and assistance to poor, homeless, and disadvantaged people. There is a soup run, a cheap cafe, computer training courses, CV help, training in furniture renovation and such like; and specialist help with addiction problems. Nobody is creaming money off, and the premises is not benefitting from an elaborate paint job (or any paint job, really). The place runs on a shoestring (running shoe string, LOL?).

Anyway, the Half is 13.1 miles and takes place on 7 March. (Oops, naughty girl that I am, I won't be in church that morning!).

Had a little problem with the chat room earlier this week. Should be working fine now.

Also moved the Mr. Trivia guy to his own room where he's constantly dishing out questions without interrupting the main chat. You can find him by clicking on the #gs_trivia button on the bottom of the chat window.

Replacing Mr. Trivia in the main chat room is GS_Bot, who should give you a nice welcome when you enter.

Maybe I can teach him some other tricks latter on.

Also working on putting a line at the bottom of the forum index listing who is in the chat room. Figured out how to do it, just have to finish it.

Does anybody remember the recording that Robert Preston (The Music Man) did of this song by "order" of President John F. Kennedy in 1961? Maybe I should say that JFK "commissioned"-yeah, better word- Robert Preston to do this song for America's Kids in order to get them to exercise and stay healthy. I remember exercizing to this dang song all through elementary school, and even though we made jokes about it, the exercize regimine wore us out, and, because I am a musician and always like Robert Preston, I dug it. But now, because there might be an "insult to flabby guys"-words used in the song, as well as an insult to chickens-PETA might not like it-the song and exercise regimen might be "politically incorrect". And so, it's funny how the brain works. The other morning, this song popped into my head-for whatever weird reason!-and I began to sing it at full volume in the kitchen as my wife and I were getting coffee. I mean, I remembered the words and the "marching band trombones" and everything! And she was looking at me like I was an idiot, as if I were singing "Beautiful Ohio" or worse "Good Morning Lord" at only 0600 in the marnin...

And so, I present to you a version of "Go You Chicken Fat Go" which only plays a couple of minutes of the song, but also gives a little history of JFK's involvement in it. After that, I will post the full version of the song which finishes out in case you want to hear the whole thing. So, here ya go, and if anyone else remembers this "Sixties Thing", please comment!
