Since the new local radio station www.lonestar925.com came on the air, I've temporarily abandoned my cds. I listen on my drive to and from work and if we're not busy I listen here at my desk.

Right now they're playing a Joe Ely song, but this morning they've played the Black Crowes, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, John Mellencamp, and I forget who else. It's the only station around here who plays Eric Clapton and Lucinda Williams, Billy Joe Shaver and John Mayall.

Somebody stop me...I am way too excited about this!

We have organized the Ipod with around 5000 songs from such genres as Jazz (modern, ballads), pop, rock ‘70’s to 90’s, disco, Euro/World, classical, folk, African, etc. So I have lots to choose from depending on the f e e l i n g...ohohoh feeling...Anyway, I like it played on my Bose, but that’s in Africa. So now it’s either the car or the laptop!

My favorite CD right now is John Hiatt (The A &M Years '87-'94), especially Through Your Hands, Buffalo River Home, and Have a Little Faith In Me.

Jimmy Buffett

Bob Marley and The Wailers

Dave Mason's Headkeeper (finally released on CD!!)

Keb' Mo'

The Allman Brothers

A little rock, a little blues, a little reggae...

Someone mentioned Last Train To Clarksville...I had that running through my head last week too...a real blast from the past!

Blood Sweat and Tears. The original, with Al Kooper. The first song, "overture" is just amazing..

Today would have been a good day for the soundtrack to Lost Highway or Fire Walk with Me... Surreal, with a real evil undertone... or maybe some Megadeth from my husband's collection.

I've been working 9-12 hour days without a break cleaning up a mess someone left at my work... for 9 days in a row, no end in sight. I need something a little angry that will keep me awake. The caffeine is not cutting it anymore.

JavaJane,

I'm so sorry you're having to clean up someone else's mess.

Here's one of my favorite "angry" bands - Rammstein:

Thanks, Belle!!! Rammstien does one of the songs on the Lost Highway soundtrack! How fitting that you reccommend them!

I saw them in concert a couple years back. They scared the audience, who stared like people do at a bad wreck on the side of the road. Horrified, but somehow unable to look away. I will not describe what the did on stage, but I am sure it violated many public decency laws... and they soaked everyone close to the stage. It was (shall we say) NASTY.

I haven't had time to re-load my iPod since the mess started. I need to do it tonight.... (making mental note)

:offtopic: Just finished 10 days today - I have lost track of the hours worked. Toooo many, to be sure. I think if I bothered to calculate by current hourly rate of pay (since I am salaried and don't get overtime) I am probably making less than that of a McDonald's employee...

:asdf:

I'm going to get a beer and watch Ghosthunters...

Hooray, beer!

AWESOME song!

Did you know that Red Rider's vocalist was Tom Cochrane - the same who sang the hit "Life Is A Highway"

One of my favorite albums - one that every cut is GOOD - is "Brand New Day" by Sting. Excellent stuff.

I bet you're probably into The Cure and Kate Bush, if you like Gabriel and Sting. How about Siouxsie and the Banshees?

OMG - my music soul mate!

I never would have admitted to listening to those groups when I was in TWI - sorta a closet alternative music person...

So, let's see... REM, Talking Heads... Meat Puppets? Violent Femmes?

REM - yes. Talking Heads - yes. Meat Puppets - no, but because I never heard of them. Violent Femmes - yes.

And the B52s, Pet Shop Boys, U2, Jane's Addiction (which is of course, coffee), the Police, and Suicidal Tendencies...

Then Nine Inch Nails, Korn, Rage Against the Machine, Orgy, and others....

If I remember right, Chas, you and I are only about a year or two apart in age, too!

Now y'all are talking! :biglaugh: YES on all of those!

I listened to some songs from Lost Highway today since I'd never heard of it. Good stuff!

Then... got sidetracked on the Goo Goo Dolls.

If you're Chas' age, JJ, then we're about the same age, too. Kewl!

I hope work is getting better!

I'd love to hear more of the classical music stuff that Sting is doing now.

I wanted to surprise my husband with tickets to see The Police in Las Vegas, and they were $2,600!!!! Can you believe that??? I am still in shock over it.

Then I wanted to get him tickets to Genesis, and they were $500, still too much money!!! I remember when I saw 4-6 bands in the late 70s and early 80s for $25. Ah...the good ole dayz.

KC and the Sunshine Band tickets go on sale tomorrow at Mandalay Bay. I'll see how much they are. I love their sound even though it is from the disco era. You can't beat the horns in that group. Their music is pure energy.

I just got sent free tix last night to - get this -

Eddie Money
Rick Springfield
and
Patty Smyth and Scandal

We get goodies like this every now and then from a local venue we haunt several times a season - I can't wait! The concert is Sunday night.

This should be good!

If this is about what I am listening to right now, Its the new CD from Chick Corea and Bela Fleck called "The Enchantment" which so far is my album of the year, imo a work of real genius.

Well, dadgummit, my speakers aren't working for some reason. I'd really love to hear what you just posted MStar.

Chas, KEWL BEANS!!! I'm sooooo jealous! That's just downright awesome!! I'd love to see any one of them in concert, much less a cacophany of 'em.... very, very cool!

One of the local radio stations down here has free concerts in downtown Orlando during the summer and it's always good "old" bands you haven't heard for a while. One of the best concerts, no lie, was Flock of Seagulls. :biglaugh: It was really great when Fat Tuesday's was in business. You could get a huge plate of crawfish, potatoes and corn cooked RIGHT and enjoy the concert with the crawfish and a few cold brewskis.

Today I indulged in a little Sugar Cubes, Linkin Park and Greenday.
