GeorgeStGeorge Posted July 15, 2013 Share Posted July 15, 2013 I saw "The Lone Ranger" today. A lot of critics have panned it, but I thought it was quite well done. A good story, great cast, some campy humor, but not too much. There was one goof that annoyed me, though. (I suspect that fewer than one of a thousand viewers would get it.) The action takes place at the site of the completion of the transcontinental railroad in 1869. The band, however, is playing "The Stars and Stripes Forever," which wasn't written until 1896! And then, there's the challenge of teaching 300 million people a new song. I suspect that there are fewer than a thousand of us in the US who know the words.
