Ok, same artist, different song.

"Billy left his home with a dollar in his pocket and a head full of dreams.
He said somehow, some way, it's gotta get better than this.
Patti packed her bags, left a note for her momma, she was just seventeen,
there were tears in her eyes when she kissed her little sister goodbye."

This is Rod Stewart, "Young Turks".  I always think that it's name is young hearts, because that's the hit line in the song.  Now thinking back, the other song was Forever Young  and I can't believe that I didn't know that then.

Correct on both.   Probably his 2 best songs, but I'm sure there would be some disagreements as to which were his 2 best.

Seasons change with the scenery,

Weaving time in a tapestry

Won't you stop and remember me?

At any convenient time?

Funny how my memory skips

Looking over manuscripts

Of unpublished rhyme

Drinking my vodka and lime

Hang on to your hopes, my friend

That's an easy thing to say

But if your hope should pass away

It's simply pretend

That you can build them again

Look around, grass is high

Fields are ripe,

It's the springtime of my life

Seasons change with the scenery,

Weaving time in a tapestry

Won't you stop and remember me?

At any convenient time?

Funny how my memory skips while

Looking over manuscripts

Of unpublished rhyme

Drinking my vodka and lime

And apparently by a couple other dudes too.

The bangles covered it.  Most popularly known for it were Simon & Garfunkel!  Are you that young Raf that you don't remember that?

"I saw you there, just standing there
And I thought, I was only dreaming yeah.
I kissed you then, then once again
You said you would come and dance with me.

Dance with me, across the sea
And we could feel the motion of a thousand dreams."

Doctor Doctor

By the trio of nonsiblings known as the Thompson Twins.

That's them.  For some reason, the 3 of them decided to name themselves after 2 characters from "Tintin."  I imagined the 3 members of the Pizzicato Five did much the same. However, they actually started as 5, whereas the Thompson Twins started as more than 2, and both were famous with 3 members.  Show business is strange.

Hey, if you've seen ONE crowded, polluted, stinking town.....

Murray Head's  "One Night in Bangkok."  Off the soundtrack to some chess movie. Was it "Knight Moves"?

I thought it may be that song too WordWolfie.  I couldn't get my head around cloister, instead all I heard was "the world's your oyster".  Good job.

Who Are You?  That's not a question, that's the name of the song by The Who.

I'm going.

Whatever happened to all this season's

Loser's of the year

Every time I got to thinking

Where' d they disappear

Then I woke up Mom and Dad

All rollin' on the couch

Rollin' numbers rock and rolling

Got my Kiss records out
