Mini-GSpot Reunion

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody!

I just wanted to say thank you to everybody for coming out to an impromptu meeting of a few of us Greasespotters in Connecticut. Steve! was able to contact Paw, Parsley, and Word Wolf to join us for a nice Chinese dinner. You guys were terrific!

Steve! -- bring chinners and the kids out for the weekend, and we'll do something, if we're around

Paw and Parsley -- keep in touch, I'd enjoy hanging out with you in NYC sometime. I'll introduce you to the word geeks playing Scrabble in Washington Square Park...!

Word Wolf -- I love your warped sense of humor, something that doesn't always come across in your posts. You are truly a sick human being -- glad to have met you!

I am now the proud owner of one of the coveted GresespotCafe shirts -- thanks so much, Paw! I will worship it, er, wear it with pride, and giggles.

It hit me last night that TWI had so many just plain GOOD people involved in their little organization. Such a shame that they blew it so badly.

Regards to you all,

Shaz

PS Mike -- were your ears ringing last night??

Yup, Wordwolf got on the New Haven line out of Grand Central Terminal, and came out to Westport, where Shaz and I met him, and went a block or two away to a Chinese Restaurant - Jasmine.

On the phone he said that if you look at him sideways, he looks a lot like you, Raf, and if I squint, I can see that.

No, TomTooStrange, not cannibalism. But the meat did taste a lot like cat!

Word Wolf and I were always mistaken for brothers (physical). If I had thought of it at the time, I would have said we are: we just have different mothers. And fathers. But one Father. O'Malley. At St. Raymond's R.C. Church.

Wow a meeting here in Connecticut. Cool!

I am sorry that I missed it.

Been a long time since we had chinese food.

I look forward to the possibility of meeting you guys in the future.

I even made the trip up to Unity, Maine last summer in the hopes of possibly meeting some folks up there.

I had a blast. The majority of people from twi are, as shaz said, great and wonderful people. Gems that got lost in the power machine.

Wordwolf is a fine man, it was great hearing his perspective on stuff. I've never seen someone's eyes light up quite like his when I pulled out the t-shirts.

Shaz is a great lady. She's had such a rich life during and since twi. We're definitely going to get together again and do something in NYC.

I like these small setting where a few can get together and talk about whatever we want under the sun.

Galen,

Heck yeah, you should come on down. Talk to Steve!, he's been coordinating these get togethers.

Did his eyelashes actually hit you? They've been known to do quite a bit of damage to people sitting as much as six yards away.

I would be up for a Minnesota GS get together. I live in the Twin Cities, but don't mind driving elsewhere in the state. I'd even be up for having a small group at my house. However, I have to warn you that I have a Tasmanian Pomeranian and an attack chihuahua as a security system. Would be fun to have Wisconsin neighbors or even those southerners from Iowa.

I am the anti-Martha (as in Martha Stewart), so someone else would have to do the organizing, but I would show up or open the gate to my back yard and house if anyone else is interested.

Central Minnesota would be best (around your area Mary Cate). Easier driving for Wisconsin"ites" and folks from Iowa. But I don't know the area well enough to suggest a spot.

If there are folks interested, I'd be glad to look around here.

I am a camp out, bring the dogs kind of person, but would be fine with restaurant or other indoor meeting places if that would interest/accomodate others.

Dr. Strange,

You never answered my questions..

Are you going to come and "fellership" with us Northlanders? Are there direct flights from your home in left field to the Lindbergh or Humphrey terminals?

We have the Mystic Lake Casino in Shakopee (now a suburb of Minneapolis, I guess). Never been inside the casino, only to the shooting range next door, but I hear they have a nice buffet at the casino if anyone likes that sort of thing.

Hm.

Got busy and missed this thread. icon_smile.gif:)-->

*reads*

ROTFLMAO!

(rolling on the floor, laughing my asparagus off)

[translation for Parsley]

Shaz, I had NO idea that was you until a few minutes ago! icon_smile.gif:)-->

I'm glad my sense of humour came through.

Actually, I said I looked like Raf "in bad lighting", but apparently

Steve heard it as "sideways" since I was in a hurry.

Badmouthing people behind their backs misses all the fun of seeing their

faces. Thus, Raf knew he was safe. icon_smile.gif:)-->

For the record, I was prepared to happily pay retail for a GSC t-shirt. icon_smile.gif:)-->

Raf,

the place serves sushi also, but I felt that NOT having the Chinese food

would have broken tradition. icon_smile.gif:)-->

If you guys ever come down to NYC,

I've got lots of ideas for restaurants....

If you want to make a weekend of it, there's plenty of stuff to do....

I don't know MC... I live way down here in southern left field... although I did spend a month of one winter and a month of one summer (different years) in the Minneapolis area... very beautiful both times (although verrrry cold in the winter)... and I spent about four months in Green Bay once...

Dear WW,

Oh sheesh, I didn't say my username?? LOL! You musta been thinkin' "who the f*** IS this talkative chick...?"

Oy, my bf loves to eat out, especially at little cheap home-cooking places. (I can't tell you how many diners we've been in!) But it's been so long since I was a Big Apple resident that I have no clue where the food is. (He's found a couple of places.) So gimme a couple of weeks, and maybe then we can arrange to come down to Manhattan and visit.

Hey, Minnesotans, I hope you have a blast. Where else can you say something like "I got him in the Word," and have everyone know exactly what you're talking about?

Regards,

Shaz
