The following "Top Ten List" was written by "Research Geek" a former Way International Research Department staff person and Way Corps graduate of twenty years. Research Geek's opinions, beliefs and conclusions do not necessarily represent those of the GreaseSpot Cafe.
Introduction:
I was in the Way Corps for 20 years, on the Research Team at International Headquarters for one year and was a top research advisor to lcm for quite a while. LCM used a lot of my material in Way Corps meetings, Sunday Night Services and Classes but usually did not indicate that it came from my research efforts. It probably would surprise you to learn how much of the "good stuff" that was taught came from me and my wife's input. I kept copies of everything I mailed or faxed in as well as my copy of Corps File which headquarters kept with LCM's written comments, plus his letters back to me even though my twi2-branch-discoordinator-lcm-croney demanded that I throw them all out. The stack is almost 1 foot thick. I also have kept as much additional material in word-for-word shorthand notes of Corps meetings throughout the 20 year period that I was in the Corps.
I now believe that submissions to lcm like mine as well as others' similar efforts "propped lcm up" for a period of time, giving his teachings a form of credibility. Any downfall of a charismatic leader will not be overnight. Indeed, at one time lcm was a genuine leader with an effective ministry developing and teaching genuine material. But something happened and he obviously began to fall. The believers abused disagree as to exactly when this began. But that process naturally would involve a transition period where the leader would be internally conflicted, wrestling between the good and the evil, e.g. Balaam. We who were in at the time actually witnessed this process where in his teachings he often would put forth brilliant insights of the scriptures. However, at the same time he also often publicly broadcast many danger signals by his lack of love, by his uncontrolled anger, intimidation, changing expectations and by his introduction of false doctrines and practices.!
These conflicting signals made it difficult for us to discern when, like I Corinthians 9:27 says is possible, his ministry became worthless and he was disqualified from exercising ministerial authority. How much of those brilliant insights came from those who submitted material to him? We will never know. However, one thing we can clearly see is that the quality of his teachings declined the more that the people submitting material were kicked out and the more that those still submitting became motivated by self ambitious "cronyism" rather than genuine inspirations and aspirations. That seems to indicate that at the end, the true level of his personal research ability was being exposed.
Those leaving twi2 will go through a lot of changes as the scales begin to drop from their eyes. Through the pain, betrayal and confusion they usually experience, two paths will ultimately emerge, one upward and the other down: Godly sorrow and the sorrow of the world. These changes actually are the process in II Corinthians 7:10,11 because anyone still in twi2 by now has to have gotten knowingly or unknowingly tainted by some form of hypocrisy or deception. Unfortunately that is unavoidable. But once people are out from under the influence and tarasso (troubling spiritual and emotional abuse) of the king python and his/her croneys they can once again come to their genuine spiritual senses because most twi2 believers still have a heart of integrity that wants to do what they understand is right.
Release from bondage and condemnation happened for me rather quickly. Within two weeks of being cast out and getting out from under the intimidation and control, I had realized most of what now is in this Top Ten list. I saw others around me who were no longer involved with TWI/twi2 who did not see their way through the confusion as quickly. Many were still buying into the lies and intimidation even though they now were cast out and no longer were required to submit to it! I saw them deteriorating under the judgment and self-condemnation that they had been taught to expect and maintain. I saw that this material helped them sort things out, get closure and begin to receive deliverance.
It is my sincere hope that this material will help those who need answers to see more clearly and go through their inevitable catharsis quicker and easier. There once was a time that I never dreamed that I ever would say the kind of things about TWI that are contained here. But it actually is not about TWI. It is about twi2. It is thought provoking to say the least! I suggest that they be viewed in reverse order, beginning with number 10 in order to see things as they developed.
The Research Geeks Top Ten List first appeared publicly on the Waydale Forum, but originally was part of a much larger, yet unpublished white paper. The Waydale form of the Top Ten solicited readers' comments on a subject by subject basis. The form of the Top Ten on the new Grease Spot site may not. Since all recoveries are indeed works in progress, the original submissions of the Top Ten have been preserved, but further content to them based upon the comments of those who replied to the Waydale version of the Top Ten or those who send me comments now, may be appended in the future. Furthermore, the Top Ten could easily be expanded to the Top Twenty. I reserve the right to submit further entries to Grease Spot in the future as further information is discovered and confirmed. If anyone requires further explanation or clarification or has suggestions for exposing additional facets of LCM's "present spewth", I can be reached at the E-mail address: TheResearchGeek@Netscape.net
