The Way International has had several groups spin off from it. A
majority of them got their start in the late 1980's when The Way was
suffering from internal conflict. It was then when two thirds of The
Way's followers left, a large number of them following Way leaders out
the door to start their own version of it.
Some of the groups formed were The Way of Great Britain by Chris
Geer, Christian Educational Services by John Lynn, Mark Graeser, and
John Schoenheit, and Christian Family Fellowship by John Shroyer and
J.P. Wierwille (later to be joined by Wayne Clappe).

These questions are to
help you get straight, specific answers from the Board members, as
opposed to the kind of vague rhetoric they have thus far given those
who have pressed in with them about this sad situation.

This
letter from a longtime STF supporter and close friend of John
Schoenheit is self-explanatory. Dan Gallagher’s brief reply follows
it.

I wrote
this letter late in 2007. I have known Sue Carlson for more than 30
years, and her husband, Dave, for 10 years. Sue is John Schoenheit’s
sister, and his teaching partner on our flagship seminar, New
Life in Christ. In late 2003 or early 2004
the STF Board unceremoniously fired her and Dave from their volunteer
responsibilities.

Here
is what John S. wrote in his opening letter in the July/August 2009
Sower magazine:
[“From
God’s perspective, all of our talents and abilities mean nothing if
we are not going to do the hard work of developing godly character.
After all, He was the one who gave us our talents, so they do not
impress Him. Jesus expressed the heart of God very well when he said
that on the Day of Judgment many would come and report the talented
things they had done, like prophecy, mighty works, and casting out
demons. Yet Jesus made it clear that if we do these things on our
own, for our own gain, not out of humble obedience to God, he will
say he never knew us
(Matt.
7:21 and following).”]

Bob Maffit was in
TWI from the early ‘70s, and was then with CES/STF from its
inception. A disabled veteran on a government pension, Bob worked for
many years as a fulltime volunteer staff member for STF until last
month, when he resigned in protest to what he saw in his dealings
with the STF Board.

August 15, 2009
Dear Brethren,
God bless you. In
regard to the immediate aftermath of my December 21, 2008 letter to
the STF Board, and the events of Monday-Friday, January 12-16, I want
you to see what Jeff Blackburn sent us August 12 (it's at the end of
this letter). It still puts a knot in my stomach when I read my wimpy
words, but I'm actually glad that Jeff sent it, because I'd forgotten
about it, and wouldn't want people to think I'm covering it up. I
don’t need to.

The following “prophetic
words” were given to Elizabeth Lynn on 5/1/03 by the STF Board
(Mark Graeser, John Schoenheit, Gary and Karen Theisen). John Lynn
was also on the Board at that time, but was excluded from the process
leading up to 5/1 and had never seen them until reading them himself
that day. As per his 12/21/08 letter, John came and repented to
Elizabeth in February, 2007, accounting for his own blindness in the
situation.
