In
getting the new Way Corps training program into action, the Corps should
explain this concept to the household. Share it with them to educate and
inspire and build their support for the new four year Way Corps training
program.
The new program will have a candidacy year, an apprentice year, and then two
years in residence. It is still four years; however, the believer must be
accepted to the Corps candidate year, and then to the apprentice year; then he
does two years in residence in a row.
Prerequisites for
Applying for Corps Candidacy (Singles, Couples, or Families):
Advanced Class graduate
(which assumes all the previous prerequisites)
No debt or pending legal
matters
hey are to be out of debt before they are accepted to the Corps candidate year.
With this, they're at
least going to have two
years living debt-free before the in-residence training.
Marital status stays unchanged (they could have just gotten married, and then
they can start their candidacy year). No additional children during the next
four years
A believer considering Corps candidacy gets with his
Limb/Country/Campus/Cabinet overseer, and together they talk candidly about the
believer's desires and abilities in leading people and about the extent to
which he has proven his discipleship. The fundamentals of acceptance are proven
discipleship and leadership potential. The overseer should know of the
believer's good report among the household and his capacities for spiritual
leadership. An application is filled out and then signed by the overseer and
the believer and mailed to The Way Corps Director's Office--no more writing the
Corps Director's Office to get an application.
The believer must apply no later than January 1, 1998, to be considered for W30
or F26.
Candidacy Year
Within this year, the candidate is to live with or in close proximity to Corps
leadership, coordinate a household fellowship, and assist in coordinating a
foundational class on The Way of Abundance and Power. This will allow the
candidate to be exposed to numerous leadership disciplines and skills, such as
participating in leadership meetings, planning calendars, learning to be both a
student and teacher of God's Word, as well as providing exposure to
coordinating other classes and watching over finances--all of which are an
integral part of the Corps leadership's life-style.
If the candidate is in his last year of college, he would only need to assist
in coordinating a household fellowship and to help in some capacity in
coordinating a Foundational Class, due to necessary academic involvement. The
key is to stay as active as possible with the household fellowship, yet uphold
requirements for college graduation.
Accordingly, someone in their last year of college could be in their candidacy
year, but by the apprentice year they would no longer be a college student.
Many of our Corps should come from our college people: they are the ones with
the abilities and drive to develop their minds; they have exposure to the
academic experiences, and then if they wanted to, they could move right into
the Corps.
Live with or close to Corps leadership
Coordinate a household
fellowship (assist if in college)
Assist in coordinating a
foundational class on The Way of Abundance and Power (help in some way if in
college)
The candidacy year also begins the no use of tobacco products. The candidate
will need to start a systematic and consistent plan of physical fitness in this
year also, as well as continuing to develop financial stewardship. He will have
at least two years of adjusting physically and keeping the discipline before
the in-residence program.
No tobacco products
Begin a plan for physical
fitness
Continue developing
financial stewardship (i.e., budget)
Six months into the candidacy year, in February, the individual will need to
have a complete physical and begin working on the Preparation Checklist for
entering in-residence training. Completing a physical and having access to
basic items such as proper clothing for all types of weather, as well as study
materials, are good preparation for any disciple.

At this stage of growth, and due to the variety of exposure to spiritual
leadership, a candidate should prove to himself and to his Corps leadership who
is working and believing with him that he has leadership potential to oversee a
Branch at minimum. He manifests character that is sound, uncontaminated, and
Word-centered. He can comprehend the Word and teach it. He can understand
people's needs and how the Word can be applied. The leadership potential he has
will be even more evident. The candidate will see by experience whether or not
he has the ability and desire to serve full-time as a good minister of Jesus
Christ.
Should the candidate have a successful year, with his overseer's recommendation
and the approval of The Way Corps Director, he may continue with the program
and become apprentice Way Corps. If the candidacy year proves to the individual
that he does not desire to go further in The Way Corps training, then he, along
with his overseer, may decide that he could serve in other responsibilities in
the ministry. He could coordinate a household fellowship and work a secular job
or serve as Staff at a Root locale or wherever the need is for his life and the
ministry. This way everyone is aware that The Way Corps is for training
graduate-level ministers--full-time leadership service in the household. Of
course, we expect them to succeed in the candidacy year; it's not a year of
seeing if they like it or not. We expect them to hold it fast. There could be
some element of people not making it, but not overall.
Requirements for Candidacy Year:

(sound and uncontaminated Word-centered character, ability to comprehend and
apply the Word, passion for receiving, retaining, and releasing spiritual
truths)
Apprentice Year
With the recommendation of the overseer and the approval of The Way Corps
Director, the candidate will move into his apprentice year of The Way Corps
training. At this time he may begin spiritual partnerships.
He still maintains all the requirements for the candidacy year throughout the
apprentice year. In this second year, a greater quality of growth should be
evident to the leadership involved and to our ministry as a whole. Each
apprentice Corps person will be a coordinator in the Disciples of the Way
Outreach Program. During this year, each person needs to coordinate or assist
in coordinating at least one foundational class on The Way of Abundance and
Power.
Once finished with the Disciples of the Way Outreach Program, the apprentice
Corps will continue to live with or in close proximity to Corps leadership.
Each will coordinate a household fellowship or serve on Staff at a Root locale.
A consistent, systematic physical fitness plan is still expected and will be
checked on throughout the apprentice year. If there is any outstanding physical
challenge during the apprentice year, the individual, with the oversight of the
Corps leadership, should obtain the required results for evaluation and resolve
the problem.
By May I of the apprentice year, the first
Way Corps Sponsorship installment is due. Steady
progress on the Preparation Checklist will be made and checked throughout the
year. It will be completed before entering in-residence training.

In-residence Training
In-residence training is two years straight. It is a structured learning
environment. As a student of
God's Word, an
in-residence Way Corps person will be shown what he can really do and how far
he
can grow. The Corps learn
to adapt and be flexible, developing the ability to move swiftly in all
categories of life, physically, mentally, and spiritually.
The overriding principle in The Way Corps training is to allow the Corps to
master and become proficient in as much of the Word as possible, doctrinally
and practically. They will develop strong study habits and expand their ability
to teach the Word of God. They will learn to successfully oversee God's Word,
people, and materials. God's Word is at the center of The Way Corps training;
therefore, the motto of The Way Corps is "It Is Written."
When Way Corps graduate, they are expected to be full-time ministers of the
Lord Jesus Christ, with the capabilities of serving, at minimum, as Branch
coordinators in areas of concern, interest, and need.
Assignment changes are expected at least every three to five years, meeting the
spiritual needs of the ministry.
With the caliber of this new program, we're expecting much more out of those
that enter The Way Corps, and we're expecting more when they graduate.
