Obituary Notice

DR. DONALD E. WIERWILLE

NEW KNOXVILLE - Dr, Donald Ernst Wierwille, 60, 5555 Wierwille Rd, vice president emeritus of The Way International Biblical Research, Teaching and Fellowship Ministry in New Knoxville, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000 at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, following an extended illness.

He was born August 11, 1940 in New Knoxville, son of Dorothea (Kipp) Wierwille of New Knoxville, and the late Dr. Victor Paul Wierwille, founding president of the Way International in New Knoxville.

On April 14, 1962 he married the former Wanda Stroshein and she survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Matthew (Laurinda) Harmon of New Knoxville, and Kristina Wierwille of Gunnison, Col., and a son, Ralph Ernst Wierwille of Sun Prairie, Wis. and a grandson.

Dr. Wierwille graduated from Van Wert High School in 1958.  He had a broad background in the field of education and received a doctor of education degree in 1979 from the University of Kansas, where his major was in educational administration and higher education.

He taught Junior High School in Winnebago County, Ill and later served as a reading specialist in Rockton, Ill.  He was also principle of Clinton County Grade Schools in Clinton, Wis. five years before joining the of staff of the Way International in 1974.

Dr. Wierwille served as vice president of The Way International from 1977 to 1996.  He also served as president of The Way College of Emporia from 1982-1991.

Funeral services will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by the Vornholt-Miller Funeral Home in New Knoxville.

In what seems to be a deliberate omission, the names of Donald Wierwille's sisters and brother (Karen, Mary, Sara and J.P) have not been mentioned in this obituary. It is believed that they are not welcome on TWI property without special permission from Way president Rosalie Rivenbark.
