The Torah to Revelation: The Mystery: The Rapture
revvel replied to revvel's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
Oldiesman. Thank you for the Scriptures you posted, especially from the apostle Peter. You opened an important door of knowledge: The appearance of classic Hebrew terminology doesn’t equate to revelation earmarked for the Hebrews, but rather, Christ is revealing the mystery for the Church via Hebrew concepts: the fulfillment of the New Covenant God promised through the prophet Jeremiah 31:31, the Spirit being poured out (Joel 2:28-32a), and how the “just shall live by faith” (Rom. 1:17) in one Body: the Body of Christ. This is such a critically important subject. I’m thankful you brought this into the discussion. Christ handed Peter, Paul, and John relevant Hebrew terminology to reveal the mystery for the Church. Peter Peter uses classic Hebrew terminology to describe what God wrought through Christ via the mystery for the Church: the “Holy Priesthood” of the “Spiritual House”—and we are “Living Stones.” And Peter makes it abundantly clear who he is addressing in his letters: 2 Peter 1:1, 2 “Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have received a faith as precious as ours through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ. Grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.” 1 Peter 1:3-5, 23 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an incorruptible and undefiled inheritance that does not fade away, kept in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time…. You have been born again, not from perishable seed, but imperishable, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.” Peter: Hebrew Terminology 1 Peter 2:4-6 Peter also revealed the mystery once hidden in Isaiah Coming to Him [Christ] as to a living stone who is rejected by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up into a spiritual house as a holy priesthood to offer up spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For also it is contained in the Scripture [Isaiah], ‘Look! I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious, and he who believes in Him shall never be put to shame.’” Regarding our Holy Priesthood… From the days of the Reformation, Martin Luther correctly wrote about “the priesthood of all believers,” which is often referred to as, “every man his own priest before God.” How? Be a “living sacrifice,” offering up “spiritual sacrifices” in the spiritual Temple of God. This is our Holy* Priesthood in Christ’s Church: “living sacrifices,” versus dead animal sacrifices offered by the Levitical priesthood under the Old Covenant. *Sanctified by the Holy Spirit Paul: Hebrew Terminology Romans 12:1 “I urge you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service of worship.” 1 Cor. 3:16 “Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” Ephesians 2:19-22 (as you point out) Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the entire building, tightly framed together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God through the Spirit.” John: Hebrew Terminology Rev. 1:5-7 Christ in you, the hope of glory (Amplified, Classic Edition) “And from Jesus Christ the faithful and trustworthy Witness, the Firstborn of the dead [first to be brought back to life] and the Prince (Ruler) of the kings of the earth. To Him Who ever loves us and has once [for all] loosed and freed us from our sins by His own blood. And formed us into a kingdom (a royal race), priests to His God and Father—to Him be the glory and the power and the majesty and the dominion throughout the ages and forever and ever. Amen (so be it). Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him.” Oldiesman: This is where we agree 100% on the mystery for the Church: Collectively, Peter, Paul, and John revealed, “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Yet, there is another dimension to the mystery once hidden in the Old Testament. I’ll put it this way: If there isn’t a distinct mystery for the house of Jacob, then God is a liar. In essence, there are significant prophecies that apply to the house of Jacob that have yet to be fulfilled. The mystery for the house of Jacob is this: These prophecies would be fulfilled with Christ’s second coming when He returns like lightning to the Mount of Olives; these prophecies were never to be fulfilled with Christ’s first coming to Israel. Christ revealed the mystery for the house of Jacob to Peter, Paul, James, and John—which has no relevance to the mystery for the Church. Think about the prophecy Christ gave: “Truly I say to you, in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on His glorious throne, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.” (Matt. 19:28) I’ll address the fact that God isn’t finished with the 12 tribes of Israel in my next post. In essence, in the end, those Hebrews (embracing Moses/Torah) who “watched” are the wise virgins (Matt. 25) who enter the Millennial Kingdom, finally recognizing Jesus IS their Messiah, receiving atonement, at His second coming to Israel. Refer to the other Thread: The Parable of the 10 Virgins. Peace. revvel -
Waysider, you yourself may take credit for this tremendous kernel. Name it and claim it. Make it your own. You've been taught how (H-O-W) to do it, and you can't go beyond what you've been taught.

Correct, old chum! The exchange was used when the Dynamic Duo fired up the Batmobile. George -
Apparently, it's none of those, so it must be the other one. The 1966 "BATMAN" TV show?

There were no marionettes in this show. I presume this was directed at WW. If he doesn't get it, he'll kill himself when it's revealed. George -
You're kidding, right?
-
Hm Could be a few things, most of them by Gerry Anderson. "Thunderbirds?"

Well... Well... Well.... Well....

I know I've seen this. I mean, in the past few years as well.

Incorrect: Word Wolf, I think this quote is so much of a giveaway that you should be disqualified. "60 takes; I didn't hear a difference in one of them."

Do the Right Thing (?) George

"Look Rosie, you're not my wife, all right? Stop being such a drag. What the sh**'s eating you anyway?" "I'm pregnant. [silence] Well aren't you gonna say anything?" "What's there to say? It's not my first. Or my last."

Sorry to hear that, Waysider. Very confusing for you. Confusing for a non-Christian; for an AC grad who had been taught about "homo spirits" doubly confusing. You did the right thing, punching him away. Lifted Up, same for you. I hope it's given you both the empathy to understand female victims of sexual assault - how it might happen, their shame around the incident (though it's not their shame at all but the perpetrator's), and their fear of telling anyone (taking sometimes years to speak out) - and fear of other such assaults. I hope you brought up your sons/nephews/other males in your purview well - teaching them to keep their hands to themselves.

For everybody who never saw the movie, there were a few clues that pointed in the right direction. "One of the main characters is seen early in the movie, in a high-rise apartment. It is his friend's apartment, not his own, and he is visiting. Otherwise, we'd have a rather curious question to pose to the character or the director." Ah, if Scotty had been suffering from vertigo, and kept the high-rise apartment when there were plenty of places to live that were on the ground floor, the audience would have complained. "One of the most famous shots of the film was achieved by zooming the lens in while simultaneously pulling the camera back." Hitchcock managed to convey the feel of vertigo when Scotty was in a stairwell by doing this. The viewer can feel the disorientation. (I don't have vertigo, and it gave me a wince.) "The director has a "don't blink" cameo towards the beginning of this movie, in front of the shipyard, carrying a trumpet case." Not many directors make a point of being in their movies, but Hitchcock is famous for his cameos.

It IS Hitchcock, and it IS Vertigo.

Raf and I are obviously thinking Hitchcock. Funny thing: the only Hitchcock film I've seen in its entirety is "Rear Window," and this clearly isn't it. Wild guess: Vertigo? George

Probably THE GOONIES.

So it's George's turn.

So, do you at least have the director? If so, there's a few very specific clues that should narrow it down.
