  1. Hi Purple -

The brass screen mod is well worth checking out. I've been trying out a variation which employs a single brass screen, shaped into the cone, which I fill with a very small piece of the original cart fiber filler (about a 1/4), serving as a plug for the cart filled with juice. The results have been very good so far, providing a nice, steady vape and draw, no atty flooding, very little leakage.

As Socks mentioned, there's a very informative (and long) thread in the cart mods & tips section of the ecig forum which provides pics and YouTube links to the different ways brass screens are being used.

  2. Ditto, Dan.

The journey of a 1,000 miles begins with a single step, followed by a series of wrong turns and visits to gas stations for fuel, snacks and better directions.

I'm with ya brah - celebrate the progress!

Hopefully I will have cut down on my gas station trips in the middle of the night.

Not sure of my directions - personally I think I'm way off the map :)

    Thanks Socks.

  3. The transition and "quitting" - I realized reading through so many people's reactions and experience, comparing with my own, that the best approach for me was try it, use it, don't sweat the difficulties, work through them and give it some time. I found what I like, what I don't like, and over time there's more of the latter than the former. Bingo.

That pretty much sums up my attitude and experience when I started - I kept on smoking my regular Camel Lights alongside vaping. I wasn't particularly "religious" about "quitting" - thought it would be good just to "cut down" but gradually I found myself preferring more and more the taste and convenience of the ecigs. The old cigs started to taste crappy by comparison. This experience seems to be quite common among vapers.

If I were the big tobacco companies (or the pharmacutical corporations pushing their unimaginative patches and gum, or the government raking in tax money)I would be worried too.

  4. Peese, excart. Right on Brother Dan. You're on the big horse sounds like. Are you using preloaded cartridges or refilling your own?

At first I was kind of aghast at the range of supplies and accessories, dunno why. I quickly purchased a USB battery which plugs directly into the PC USB port and provides an "endless" supply of power, at a computer. The battery retains a charge and will also work on it's own I found, although not as long.

The weirdest thing for me was getting used to handling them - there was no fire, no flame, no ashes and no smoke. And no ashtrays. You can just lay them down. Years of habit would find me catching myself doing that and grabbing it - finally got used to it. Putting it in your pocket is kind of whacky too, in a good way. I found a permanent marker cap that fit perfectly and I can slip it on the end, put it in a shirt pocket and it's about as convenient as carrying a pen.

Nice to see you again Excy!

    Hey brother Socks,

I started out with prefilled cartimizers and quickly caught on to refilling them. The cartimizers (flavor-filter carts which combine the filler and atomizer, which I would recommend for anyone starting out) that came with the Xpower are extra large, and I usually top them off at least once a day.

I also picked up an atomizer and some carts to experiment with those and the "dripping" method - good for sampling different juices, and a little cheaper than cartimizers.

A usb passthrough is the next item on my agenda, to turn my computer into a hooka :)

I know what you mean about adjusting to using ecigs. With my first kit, I caught myself trying to "light" it up (lol).

But the transition from smokes to vapor hasn't really turned out so difficult for me so far, considering all "The Passion of the Quitters" horror stories I've heard over the years. I feel a lot better now than I have in years. It's the "End of the World" and I feel fine.

  5. Have been "vaping" for a little over a month now. These things are fantastic. I began with a typical mall cig (an E-9) which was fine but for the short battery life (batteries needed recharging every 2-3 hours), and upgraded the following week to an XPower 900 (litecigusa.net), an "EGO" clone with the battery charge lasting 12-14 hours. After 25 years of smoking it's good to be rid of the old "analogues" and all the circulation problems they were causing me.

For those starting out I second Sock's advice on reviewing the wealth of info and reviews the ecig forum.

Enjoying some "American Spirit" eliquid flavor as I type.

  6. Martindale wrote me a letter back, "You need help." When I read that letter, I yelled, no kidding I need help, I need help to get this stuff taught; that is how I got Martindale's Mantle. Yahweh said ok, you want to play the prophet, you do need help. Yahweh worked big time in a lot of peoples live since then, it is time to give what Martindale the loser, lost, to our called out leader, that is going to lead this body to completion, get with pawtucket and figure it out, who am I giving this Mantle too? Remember this though, our new called out leader, pawtucket has a hidden dream in his heart, it is his dream, listen to him. To the body and leadership, "Anyone teaching that spirit stuff or believing in it, It will not be allowed to be gathered up, as of 6/15/10 you do not want to be apart of that junk.

That was a mean letter at the time. But fast foreward to today - the grand "Athlete" is (last I heard) a balding, obese exercise trainer in Toledo. Judgement doesn't get any better than that.

I'm rather grateful for the weird, humiliating spectacle of the super rainbow guy's boots tripping on that gaudy, velvet Elvis cape and rolling down the steps so many years ago.

  7. The Martindale dispension is expired, dude. It's over, and has been for quite some time.

What's there left to be done, outside the final Jack Chick-ian broadcast of "This was your Life"?

Unless Yahweh intends to fly around the earth to reverse its axis for bringing us back 25-30 years.

Which would be cool only if I could go back to that era with the mind I have now.

Hey Steve, nice to see you again as well.

    D-

  8. Roy,

in all my years passing in and out of this forum, you have consistently been one the nicest people I've ever encountered.

Quite an accomplishment on the internet these days, when it's all too easy to give way to snark and mouse rage.

I think you're pretty cool. Thank you.

  9. The story book Jesus person was a liar and a fraud.

    Welcome.

You remind me of myself on some of my worst days.

But such zeal can also present the paradox that what one most vehemently despises, they may also tend to become.

    It's weird, but it happens.

Are you better than Jesus Christ?

Then by all means, why not take it upon yourself to at least act as such?

If you observe Christians treating others like crap, then please - why not take the opportunity to demonstrate here a higher road.

  10. Sky:

When life seemingly becomes one mind-boggling conspiracy theory or another, it can become a drag after awhile. One can become overcome with an incredible sense of powerlessness. In this present, ugly economic climate this sense is magnified all the more.

So for all the doom and gloom, -we could all use a good laugh.

I really didn’t intend this at your expense. I hope you don’t imagine me sitting in a convertible amid the flames of fiery hell, cackling maniacally while pulling the fleshly mask off my face to reveal an ugly, sharped-tooth demon grinning ear to pointy ear, as revealed in the closing “A-ha!” panel of an old Jack Chic comic strip.

Indeed once upon a time – as Jeff and T-Bone already raised -, in the perspective of our common religious background, the devil was everywhere, more places than Elvis and Bigfoot combined. The demonic winds listed through the minds and motions of even our closest family members, friends and acquaintences, effectively causing us to play out cheesy 3-D remakes of “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” or “Invaders from Mars” in real life. Our parents were no longer our parents, our friends no longer really our friends. Somewhere along that crooked-fenced pathway, they all took a fateful stroll leading to the singing Martian sandpit atop the hill, and returned...the unwitting drones of Satan himself! Or was that all just a horrible dream?

As you see, I’ve no objection to utilizing personal or cultural experiences in a “Doctrinal” forum. Post freely away to your heart’s content.

  11. If Lucifer Came to Your House

If Lucifer came to your house,

Would you leave crunchy Cheetos on the floor,

The Persian Cat’s unchanged litter boxes by the door,

And lose your Bibles with the remote?

    What would you do

If the Howling One came to you?

If the fierce Prosecutor of the Highest Judge

Before Him stirred up all your life’s sludge,

heralded it on heaven’s edition of Drudge,

Would you cancel your cable access today?

Could you – would you - run away?

    Perhaps you imagine you’d reel

“Get behind me Satan!” and he would indeed.

But would you turn your back on an angry snake?

He may bite you right on your heel. Or even the knee. Ouch.

So don’t turn your back on angry snakes

Or taunt them with pointy sticks.

Always call your local “Advocate” services and Animal Control

And for God sakes, don’t let Lucifer into your filthy home.

A public service message from a very bad poet.

    (Don'cha know it?)

  12. The ancient Sumerians (circ.4000) had very illustrious ideas about the Underworld, beyond the simple notion of the mind doomed to drawing a blank.

I always found fascinating the legend of the goddess Inanna's Descent into the Underworld, where by the ruler of death (according to some her evil, dark twin sister) she was stripped of her clothing and power, heavily afflicted and laden with guilt and wrath and transformed into "a corpse hung on a hook". She was brought back to life and escaped the Underworld, with her ultimately offering her husband and his sister to the powers of death to legally take her place.

For tales about Inanna translated from the ancient Sumerian tablets, check out "Inanna: Queen of Heaven and Earth" by Diana Wolkstein & Samuel Noah Kramer.

  13. Why limit the topic of the (lack of) Christian "discernment" to twi - when considering that a good many Christians of all stripes cast their lots

for a supposed Christian president whose administration over these past 8 years got our country mired in 2 wars, did considerable damage to

our reputation abroad, and put our country into a hole? Not to overlook the corruption and violations to human rights. Just saying.

  14. Zoe,

Is your translation based on an Aramaic version? (Herb Jahn's translation?)

I also always get a smile when reviewing Etheridge's translation of the Pesh-i-tta, whose transliteration

for "God" was "ALOHA", which also provokes in me a craving for Hawaiian pizza.

Interesting how there always seems to be a slightly different take on the transliterations of names among the various

Hebrew/Aramaic flavored translations, such as for "Jesus" or Yeshua":

    Etheridge: "Jeschu"

Lamsa: "Ee-shoo" (not used in his translation but in a Bible names pronunciation list).

Syrian gnostics (according to St. Ephaem): "ISU" - obviously based on the Greek, perhaps to underscore the "foreignness"

or strangeness of their deity according to their perspective(s).

As concerning a "coverup" - if anything, Romans has put on a few extra pounds since it first appeared as a scrawny kid somewhere in the neighborhood of 125 AD. Probably got flabby from all that Hawaiian pizza.

    :)

  15. I’m interested in exploring this account from another angle - an assumption I entertained over the years (whether on my own or influenced by the twi I can’t recall now).

Were Ananias & Sapphira actually killed by their own conscience?

I read somewhere that a “bad conscience” is in actuality a “good conscience” or one that is functioning.

But a bad conscience – without a ‘release” like “repentance” - can also eat away a person’s insides. Might even – without the release of “confession” (whether to a psychiatrist or a priest or even to a friend) and “forgiveness” have an overall negative effect on one’s physical, mental and emotional health (perhaps recent studies regarding the “god brain” or mankind’s evolutionary need for religion may be worth reviewing in this light).

If such be a possibility, then it’s likely (at least in my opinion) that A&S had harbored a “bad conscience” or self-condemnation over the source of their intense guilt for quite some time prior to their encounter with Peter or the Holy Spirit, who had merely opened their eyes to what was already killing them. In my crummiest Jack Nicholson impersonation - they "couldn't handle the truth".

But this take does not feel entirely satisfactory. Had Peter taken a gentler tact with them,

could he have led A&S to forgiveness and healing?

Afterall Peter had once upon a time denied (or lied about knowing) the Lord 3 times.

Though his “release” at the time was that he “wept bitterly” over these actions.

    Dan
