  1. You are not "buttinski". Kids get frustrated if the book is too hard, or at a level of maturity that is beyond them. When mine was in 2nd grade she was real excited about reading and pushed herself, but then her reading level got too high, so the books she was allowed to read for AR were too mature for her. That is when we quit doing it and I kept on letting her read books she liked.
  2. We also have AR and the kids are not pushed in anyway like you described. There is a contest for which class gets the most points at the end ofthe year but none of the constant push and punishment stuff. All kids who participate get a certificate at the end of the year (even if they only took 1 AR test). They also do STARS to test reading level so the kids all read books at an appropriate level for them. I would totally BLOW OFF any program that puts so much pressure on ME. My kid like the Pizza Hut program becuase she gets a free pizza evey month. She has to read 2 chapter books the get that. She is in the 4th grade btw and doesn't like to read very much either. On her last STARS she tested at 6.2. So her range for bookes is 3.5 to 6.2. They don't want them to read books that are to hard so they wont get frustrated. I am mostly happy with this school it is a good at academics but a little too harsh on the discipline.

    Asthma Sucks

Charles I am a respiratory therapist. I am glad you will be seeing the high risk OB, My Pulmonogist just about had a cow when he found out I was pregnent with number 3, so did the regular OB, the high risk doc was a lot calmer than the other 2 and totally agreed with the pulmonogist on using the high dose inhaled steroids. The statistics on pregnency and asthma are that 25% get worse with pregnency and 25% get better with pregnency. I was one the people that fell into the 50% that had no change. I hope that the your OB has told you to get back on your maintainence drugs, you might want to consider talking someone into perscribing the 500/50 Advair for the duration maybe with higher dose of the steroid component (the 500/250/100 part of the label on the Advair)you can avoid the prednisone. I hope you feel better soon there is nothing more miserable than sitting in the recliner in the middle of the night trying to stop coughing and breathe!

    Asthma Sucks

Hi I have very severe asthma, on prednisone 2-4 times a year generaly take Advair 500/50. I have had 3 babies iwht it. My Pulmonolgist didn't want me to have take prednisone while I was pregnant so he had me take a steroid inhaler at a rather high dose, (Aerobid X 8 puffs 2 times a day). I think he figured the little bit of steroid that might get in my blood stream wasbetter than depriving the baby of oxygen. Are you seeing a Pulmonologist and a high risk OB docter? That was the combo I had to use, the high risk OB is less stressed by the use of extra drugs in pregnanacy than the regular OB. PS I have 3 very healthy children
  5. I haven't read this whole thread but I was there at HQ, on staff. There were no concerns addressed, regarding ABS to Chris Geer etc... You were not allowed to answer I follow the Lord Jesus Christ... If you did you were dismissed from staff EXCEPT IF they needed you to complete a project or had a job function they couldn't replace then of course you were loyal and weren't fired. ....We left staff as sood as the Rock was over....
