  1. The more I read the claims of why Christianity and the Bible are true the more convinced I am that they are not. Most of my understanding of Christianity is from what I learned in The Way, which put the bible as God’s greatest work. At best that proves that god is very weak. The book is hard to understand by itself. So you need to turn to scholars and bible teachers for the correct interpretation. These people are constantly arguing about which books should be included in the bible. There are also disputes on chapters and verses. If the Bible is God’s will for the human race, why didn’t he protect it better. TWI spent a lot of time explaining this. There is a delicate balance between God and Satan. Anything that would really prove the existence of God is obfuscated by Satan. I choose to go with simpler explanations. ================================================= Occam's razor is a logical principle attributed to the mediaeval philosopher William of Occam (or Ockham). The principle states that one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed. This principle is often called the principle of parsimony. It underlies all scientific modelling and theory building. It admonishes us to choose from a set of otherwise equivalent models of a given phenomenon the simplest one. In any given model, Occam's razor helps us to "shave off" those concepts, variables or constructs that are not really needed to explain the phenomenon. By doing that, developing the model will become much easier, and there is less chance of introducing inconsistencies, ambiguities and redundancies.

  4. Many became Economists! If you read books by many of the famous philosophers, you?ll see a pattern. When young they thought and wrote about the great questions such as the meaning of life. In later years they wrote about how society should function, business cycles, markets, investments and capital. So maybe many ex-wayfers are working as economists.

It wasn't me. I was a WOW kn Oshkosh in 1974-75. You might be thinking of Richard Burner who lived in Bridgeport in 1974. Rick and I were close friends throughout high school. Rick now lives in Florida and I live in Norwalk CT.
  6. I've had several cats over the years, they were all just cats. About 8 years ago I cat-sat for a Manx kitten, she's still here! Manx have either no tail or just a little stump. Manx are more like a puppy than a cat. As easy to care for as any other cat but 'Stumpy' follows me around the house and is awake about twice as much as my other cat. Perhaps that?s not real impressive. Anyhow Stumpy is the best pseudo-dog I've ever had.
  7. With a topic like this I just had to post a response. It is always nice to know that Herbs are well thought of. I try to add a little spice into the lives I touch.
