This case was recently settled.
In the chronology of the case (click the link below) dates especially of interest:
April 11, 2023 – Settlement
Jan. 12 – 17, 2023 – Vince Finnegan subpoenaed and deposed
Nov. 8, 2022 – Charlene Edge disposition. I was not subpoenaed. I was contacted by Vozzo's attorney because I am the author of Undertow. I agreed to give info about the TWI organization as it was during the 1980s. I was involved with TWI from 1970 - 1987.

Yes I’m aware of that reference. The reason I would not necessarily include it in biographical material is that it is not currently recognized by TWI and is not available for sale in their bookstore.
Mrs. VPWs biography of her husband (and self) entitled “Born Again To Serve” does not mention the story. This is available in their bookstore so I would consider it “supported” biographical material.
The problem with this is that makes the story exist kind of in limbo. They don’t want to put it out there officially because it’s a sketchy story, but they want the buzz of the story out there as it hypes up the whitewashed image of Wierwille they wish to portray.
For anyone who wants to read The Way: Living in Love by Elena Scott Whiteside, you can go to the Internet Archive, create an account, and "borrow" it. Yes. Like going to an online library. I did this and flipped through the pages.
I happen to have a hard-cover copy of Whiteside's book, so it's easy reference for me. Alas, the book is out-of-print, but sometimes you see a copy at an online book dealer for hundreds of dollars.
That said, I'll spend another minute here to say I suspect The Way no longer publishes Whiteside's TWLIL book because so many of us who are cited in the book no longer support the organization, in fact, many of us speak out against it. For instance, my own recruitment story at the East Carolina Univeristy fellowship 1970, is in the book, so I referenced that in my own book, Undertow.

If by "the snowstorm story" you mean the snow vision VPW said God gave him to verify that He had told VPW that He'd teach him the Word as it had not been known since the first century if he'd teach it to others, appears as part of what VPW told the author, Elena Whiteside, on page 180 of her book, The Way: Living in Love.

Since my memoir, Undertow, was published, quite a few grown children of Way followers have contacted me. They ask things like how come their parents STILL adore such a depraved man as Wierwille? Most of these second-generation believers were abused by their Way Corps and non-Way Corps parents or their fellowship coordinator in one way or another. It's heartbreaking. They wish they could have gotten away from their own families while growing up! Some of them post here.
Maybe we in the USA can take a lesson from Japan on this.
There's a movement there to help children trapped in their parent's controlling religious organizations.

Hi, my contribution to informing people about The Way is my memoir titled, Undertow: My Escape from the Fundamentalism and Cult Control of The Way International. I was a Way leader trained by the founder of The Way, Victor Paul Wierwille. In 1970, I dropped out of college gave his cult the next 17 years of my life.

Long ago after I escaped TWI, I was encouraged by Jo*n Ly*n not to "throw the baby out with the bathwater." At the time, he was running a TWI offshoot group and recycling much of VPW's plagiarized biblical research.
That phrase stayed with me.
In 2009, I wrote the attached article after much discussion here about that topic, and it was posted here on GSC for a while (after the redesign, it disappeared). Today, I think it's relevant to this topic, so here you go.

Be comforted in knowing that many others are in your shoes, trying to figure out their path through life, too. I had a lot of support over the years, some from good folks I connected with on this site.

Happy upcoming Thanksgiving, Greasespotters. I'm very thankful for the many insights I've gained at this site where so many of you have read my memoir: Undertow.
This November I celebrate Undertow's 6th birthday. Time sure flies...
A little background:
When I was 16 years old, my mother passed away on the day before Thanksgiving. That trauma, I believe, made me (in part) vulnerable to Way recruiters' claims of teaching "the rightly divided word" two years later at East Carolina University.
Flash forward:
in 2016, my goal was to publish Undertow in honor of my mother just as Thanksgiving rolled around. With the support of many good folks, like some of you reading this post, I met that goal.

VPW's statement that the Bible interprets itself is nonsense. The act of interpretation of any text is done by the reader of the text. People interpret what they read. They are the ones who give it meaning. Surely we can see that this is a basic reason for many different denominations. They have different interpretations of Scripture.
People interpret books and make decisions about what the books mean based on lots of factors, such as the times in which the book was written. We're talking about reading literature here.
I'll say the obvious: Bibles are collections of pieces of literature. BTW, some Bibles have different pieces of literature in them compared with other Bibles.
People who understand what literature is and who were not brainwashed by Wierwille, realize that books don't "interpret themselves." People interpret books.
But because many of us who were vulnerable PFAL students and considered VPW as some great Biblical scholar, when he said that nonsense, many of us believed it. BTW, he's not the only Bible teacher who passes along that thoughtless statement.
In Undertow I show my experience in realizing that books don't interpret themselves, people interpret books. I highlighted that point mainly for readers who were indoctrinated in The Way. Readers who never bought into Wierwille's propaganda know that already.

Twinky, thank you for spelling out how coercive control works. It is critical to understanding the terrible and inexcusable sex abuse by TWI leaders and other sorts of leaders around the world.

We're lucky to be okay here, no property damage, no flooding in our neighborhood and we have power. Beyond grateful, but it's totally shocking and sad to see what's happened in our state.
