  1. I'd like to discuss the series but almost anything I post will end up being a big spoiler of one thing of another. Let me know when you finish the first season and we can post all kinds of spoilers.
  2. No, I was not a Wayfer (Never-Been-Way). I'm sorry I can't give you an answer from that perspective. I like the show a lot. I have not read the book, but I've seen the movie (1990, with Natasha Richardson) and found it interesting. So, when I saw the series starting, I decided to watch it. I'm fascinated with dystopian-worlds' stories, so this is up my alley. And the series delves into the past-lives of all of the main characters, weaving the tale of how they got to be where they are, and more importantly, all the behind-the-scenes on how Gilead was formed. I don't know how much more I can say without giving any spoilers. Nor do I know if that would be welcomed here. I'll be finished watching the last episode of Season 1 in the next few days, so if at some point anyone is interested in talking about the show, please let me know.
  3. Summing up: please refrain from getting me involved in something that has nothing to do with me. I rather like my reading-and-no-posting existence in this forum and I would like to continue it that way. Moderator's note: Hated to cut this post, seeing as it appears to be Mrs. Wolf's first. But she made reference to posts that have since been deleted (one violated more rules than we can count, and the others addressed the deleted post). We didn't want to delete her post entirely. Welcome to the Cafe, Mrs. Wolf. We hope to hear from you again.
  4. That's because it is cool. :) It's a great way of showing chemistry can be fun.
  5. "No ticket!" "Let my armies be the rocks and the trees — and the birds in the sky."
  6. I'll try to find a quote to post, but if anyone wants to post in my place, go ahead and continue playing...
  7. That would be Young Frankenstein... right?
  8. "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals, and you know it." "You know what the difference is between you and me? I make this look good." "Fifteen hundred years ago, everybody knew that the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew that the Earth was flat. And fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow."
  9. That's the episode. :) Image in the Sand (the title refers to the other plot of the episode, concerning Sisko and his search to find out what the prophets wanted to tell him with a vision of the face of a woman.) Your turn, Wordwolf.
  10. I'll give you more quotes to see if someone can remember the name of the episode... "You want to get Jadzia into Sto-vo-kor - fine, fine, I'm all for it. But can't you do something more sensible? Make a donation in her name, or bribe someone." "It doesn't work that way, Quark." "Apparently there is a way for Worf to ensure that Jadzia gets into Sto-vo-kor. He has to win a great battle in her name." "I could let him beat me at tongo." "Not good enough - unless he has to carve his way through a hundred Jem'Hadar to get to the table." "What makes him think she's not in Sto-vo-kor?" "Well, for one thing, she never ate the heart of one of her enemies." "She always was a little squeamish." "And secondly, she didn't die in glorious battle." "You mean, being murdered by a Pah-wraith in cold blood doesn't count?"
  11. "Hello, Benjamin." "Do I know you?" "It's me - Dax." I hope you can guess it, but if not, I'll post more quotes later tonight...
  12. "Romulans - they're so predictably treacherous." "I don't care how much he threatens me, that's the last time I ever sing 'All the Way'. He wants to hear it again, let him buy a Sinatra album." "Pretty soon the Defiant will be going into battle, Worf will be happy and the rest of us will be miserable."
  13. Right series, wrong episode. I'll post more quotes tomorrow. :)
  14. Really? The Enterprise quote was intended to obfuscate? I think that quote helped me. I was able to identify the quote from O'Brien, so I wasn't sure if it was TNG or DS9, but reading about the Enterprise as something that could go away after leaving something made me realise it was DS9. Then again, higway29 is right, now I have to think quotes. :( Oh, well, let's see... "Imagine what it must be like - hordes of rampaging Klingons, fighting and singing, sweating and belching." "Sounds like this place on a Saturday night." "Would *you* want to spend eternity here?" "So, what did you find out?" "That you should never try to match drinks with a Klingon." "This gives me a chance to honor her memory, and I'm gonna take it. And that, my friend, is my final word on the subject." "You know what this means, don't you?" "Yes. That I'm risking my life for a very dubious cause." "No. It means I'm going to risk my life for a friend who's risking his life for a very dubious cause."
  15. Emissary? I haven't seen that episode in a very long time, but the quotes sounded like it belonged to the first episode of DS9.
  16. :) No problem at all, Human without the bean. :B) Thanks! It'll be fun to see what songs other people like.
  17. You made it too difficult for me in the first list of songs, there where 3 songs I really love. I had to vote for all 3. BTW, my vote for best song would go to one you didn't list. :( NOWHERE MAN
  18. *giggles* That's a great image! "Remember, remember, the fifth of November" or if you prefer the whole quote: " "Remember, remember, the fifth of November. The gunpowder treason and plot. I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot". But what of the man? I know his name was Guy Fawkes, and I know that, in 1605, he attempted to blow up the houses of Parliament. But who was he really? What was he like? We are told to remember the idea, not the man, because a man can fail. He can be caught. He can be killed and forgotten. But four hundred years later an idea can still change the world. I've witnessed firsthand the power of ideas. I've seen people kill in the name of them; and die defending them. But you cannot kiss an idea, cannot touch it or hold it. Ideas do not bleed, it cannot feel pain, and it does not love. And it is not an idea that I miss, it is a man. A man who made me remember the fifth of November. A man I will never forget."
  19. That's "Monty Python and the Holy Grail."
  20. Sorry I didn't answer sooner, I didn't log in yesterday. YES! You've got it. :) I wasn't even starting with the easy quotes... I was hoping to post: "Monet's unknown masterpiece, Dogs At Cards." Human without the bean, the quotes are from the newer version of the film, the one with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo, not the Steve McQueen one. Although Faye Dunaway works in both versions. :P Your turn, Jbarrax.
  21. No. "This is a black and white ball." "That's okay, I wasn't invited anyway." "Are you okay?" "Yeah." "You know, I was okay once. My girlfriend went out one night and came back... married. I told everyone that I didn't care, and then I f*cked five women in three days, flipped my car on an on-ramp, beat a suspect unconscious, got suspended... but I was "okay." " "I'm sorry?" "Women. You get to talk about women." "Oh, I enjoy women." "Enjoyment isn't intimacy." "And intimacy isn't necessarily enjoyment." "How would you know? Has it occurred to you that you have a problem with trust?" "I trust myself implicitly."
  22. No. I'll post some more quotes tomorrow. :)
  23. The Tiberius reference pointed to a TOS movie, but I didn't figure out which movie it was until the other quote. It wasn't easy. :) Ok, next movie: "Have you figured out what you're going to say to your board when they realize you paid me thirty million more than others were offering?" "I saw him wreck a 100,000 dollar boat because he liked the splash." "Tommy, that's a hundred thousand dollars on a goddam golf swing!" "It's a beautiful Saturday morning, John... What the hell else have we got to do?" "Can I drop you someplace? At your hotel?" "One, I keep an apartment here, and two, I am going to your office." "She keeps an apartment. I keep goldfish."
