  1. Penworks, Just came to say how much I appreciate your openness in sharing your story. I read your book this past summer and it was very eye opening. I grew up in the way (born in 85) and left when I was 20. My parents and brothers are still heavily involved, one being in the corps both in OH and in CO. For those who have escaped and still have family members, the truth can be hard to navigate. I often feel I may be too dramatic or overthinking what my childhood was and who I was surrounded by. Reading your book and connecting with others is so validating. Thank you for being honest and sharing your story so others can work through the healing process.
  2. I grew up in TWI in mid Michigan and left around age 20 (2006ish). My parents and 2 brothers are still very much involved volunteering at hq weekly and my brother works at gunnison (was also at hq for a long time) and is corps. Looking to connect with others with similar experiences as I learn how to processes and grow and navigate relationships with family members. Thanks!
  3. Thank you for your post. I was also raised in TWI since birth and left when I was 20 around 2006. My parents and two brothers are still very much involved volunteering at hq weekly and a brother ordained and corps working at gunnison (and hq before that). I’ve done some therapy and am still working on processing my upbringing and relationships with my family still involved. Would love to connect.
