  1. OOps Forgot to tell ya--- I am 51 and proud of every year! Love, Kay
  2. Hi Guys! Thanks for the birthday wishes! I have had a very nice birthday, Had Miss Mira all day, and got a phone call from someone I knew back when I was a Milwaukeean. Life here is nuts, but God is blessing us hugely in all sorts of ways! Tim is making my supper, and I am hogging the computer! Thanks Again! Love, Kay
  3. His ashes were sent out into space by Majel Barrett-Roddenberry shortly after he died. (are there worms in space?) Kay the Trekker Kay1952
  4. Best gift I found? A wrist watch shaped like an electric guitar, with the watch band forming the neck, complete with fret bars and a four key machine head. My son is a bass player and will enjoy the heck out of it! Happy Holidays! Kay Kay1952
  5. I am phobic about natural bodies of water, soooooooooooooooo in a glass, in a pail, in a bath tub, in a coffee machine, in a bottle, and from the shore! Kay Kay1952
  6. Due to the lack of a motor vehicle we have shopped mostly on ebay, amazon.com, and half.com. Found some really good deals, and we just have a few to do now! Sick or not-- we have decided to do it this way next year! Kay Kay1952
  7. That doesn't mean I'm good at it. Tim and I have danced together, (in public) only once at a friends wedding reception. We found that-- between us-- we have-- FOUR LEFT FEET! So-- it was fun--and we considered it a moral victory that we didn't fall down! Kay! Kay1952
  8. Burl Ives, Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, NSync, (yeah I have to put them in too!) My favorite verse from 'I Never Knew the Meaning of Christmas', ...I never knew the meaning of Christmas 'Till you came into my life I was lost in the dark 'Till you opened my heart Like an angel shining bright I wished on a star And girl there you are Suddenly I realize that I never knew the meaning of Christmas 'Till I looked into your eyes... awwwwwww (I'm sappy and I know it!) Kay1952
  9. gack, gag, emesis, urp, bluck, ewwww, upchuck, William Shatner/James T.(tiresome)Kirk! I was HAPPY when the bumped Kirk off! I like the production team for TNG better than when Gene Roddenberry was steering things. Characters had more depth and were less cardboard than TOS. I understand the complaints about Berman, but? He has made a salable commodity, and whether you liked the spinoffs or not, they weren't cancelled. They were ended. Speaking of endings--I hated, detested, abhorred, was disgusted by the ending of Voyager. Thought it was lame. On the other hand, I loved the ending of DS9. Kay Kay1952
  10. Does that mean that he's B-9 not cancerous? Tim Kay1952 Stay tuned! Data's melted head circles Uranus! (That was Tim's NOT MINE!) Kay
  11. I will admit to this Masterherbalist-- Because of this thread I will be more open to other kinds of therapy. CHOP Therapy has vincristine in it-Thanks for that Watered Garden. Tim has had some really rough days lately. I think all of the chemicals in his body are building up. He's having trouble sleeping, and is feeling quite low. He is making the effort to eat, drink, and do what he can. Any suggestions Masterherbalist? My email is gert68@hotmail.com Thanks--you've made a difference! Kay Kay1952
  12. I have taken a few years as a break and I am starting to play again this Sunday. My kids are excited about it, and they are looking forward to it. The new system is great, makes a level one character much more fun to play. I don't play more than one character at a time but Tim has Matt and Nate play with at least two so they are good at it. I play very complicated characters so one is enough for me. Great FUN! Kay Kay1952
  13. They started out with 2nd edition, and are now playing 3rd. Matt plays a wizard, a druid, a rogue and a ranger. Nate plays a cleric,a barbarian, and a dual class fighter ranger. I play druids, always lawful good, lawful neutral, or absolute neutral. This time I'm an elf. Our friend Jason plays, a wizard, a sorcerer, a rogue, and Tristian a high level multi class humanoid. Why? Kay Kay1952
  14. My step children, (now 14 and 13) were absolutely scared spitless of ET when they were small. We had to talk them through it. This started a campaign of teaching them what was REALITY AND FANTASY! we got videos of make up artists turning humans into the most disgusting of monsters. Knowing how it was done, removed the fear from them. Took time, but they are now fascinated with the manipulation of digital images, and while watching 'Attack of the clones' they observed the special effects, stunt, etc from a very informed point of view. They watched The Matrix with the white rabbit option enabled and they came to appreciate just how the whole special effects were done. They have been playing Dungeons and Dragons for nearly 4 years now, with Tim the DM. They are learning by role playing characters that they are not! Role playing is teaching them deductive logic, problem solving, co-operative work in a group, and tolerance for differences in people. I believe they are well adjusted people partly because they have played D & D. We have taught them that it is as important to PLAY as well as WORK! Educating kids is fun! We did some very strange things with pumpkin pies one year working on both fractions and ratios. Tim's Matt said that he knew more than his friends about that, and his teacher was really amazed at how quickly he caught on! Harry Potter is WONDERFUL entertainment. I went to see both and we own both on dvd and watch them frequently! My whole point! Kids aren't scared of things if we make sure they understand the facts about them. Kay Kay1952
  15. I was thinking House of Mirth instead of Memento. (Just another example of 'part-timers' disease!) Thanks Zix! Kay ps I saw both, (and didn't like) either of them! Kay1952
  16. I was looking forward to seeing it-- Perhaps I'll wait till it comes out on dvd. Never thought William Shatner could act his way out of a wet paper bag! I saw 'Six degrees of separation'--the best parts of the movie were in the teaser/trailer. Same for "Memento" with Gillian Anderson from X-Files. The teaser WAS the movie! If Zixar says it sucks--well then I guess it does. I saw the new Harry Potter--good movie for the most part, but having played D & D for a long time I am jaded when it comes to fighting mythical monsters. Thanks Zix! Kay Kay1952
  17. I heard about Woodstock while hanging at a store called Joynt Venture on Brady Street in Milwaukee. (Yep-it sold everything from rolling papers to bongs, to hookah's) Called my bestest friend and we started to make plans. Packed our backpacks and hitched a ride to Chicago, (We thought it was Woodstock Ill!) Got to Illinois and then figured out it was Woodstock NY. We had planned for about 2 or 3 weeks to be gone, but it was actually a month! Others who had made the same error took us most of the rest of the way. I remember standing on the highway with a sign that said WOODSTOCK stuck to my guitar case! I remember more of the trip there and back than I do the concert itself. The music was 'around' I did more hanging out with the people! Smoked lots of fine, fine weed, and never went hungry the whole month I was gone! Jammed with tons of people, and went swimming every day. No pics of me that I can find in the documentary, I would have been easy to find as I had 4 feet of hair! My second Rock was more like Woodstock, '78 I think. (faaaaaar less mud!). I was young and thin! Had a great time, absolutely no regrets about the whole thing. I did lots of hitchhiking. Met great people! My kids think it is awesome that I was at Woodstock! (me too!) I'll be a hippie till I die! Music-- Have always loved music with close harmony. NSync-not just because they are fine looking young men,(drool, pant, yes, I'm old but not dead!) but they have their thumb into every pie imaginable when it comes to their craft. Joey is performing on Broadway! While most of their stuff can be called 'bubblegum' and it appeals to the younger set, they are very professional! Refreshing to see their dedication! I looooveee smooth jazz. James Taylor Carly Simon Toto-(me too Firebee!) New Age Celtic Bagpipe, (yep!) Yes Santana Chicago Enya Loreena McKennitt Clannad This is the short list! I saw a young fellow named Josh Grobin on Ally McBeal, and downloaded a bunch of his stuff. Voice like an angel's would be! My acid test for music is if I get goose bumps when I hear it, I look for more! The list is virtually endless. My son listens to everything from New Age to rap to classics, Mozart right now. Life without music would be no life at all! Kay Kay1952
  18. Just got your email, and I am downloading the song from Kazaa. (Ever been there? I love it!) We have had some rough times of late. Tim feels really terrible, (cumulative from the chemo I think) and so music of all kinds has been being played here! He's doing better now that we talked. He's such a wonderful fellow that even when he's a crab he's still the best husband I have ever had! Thanks Firebee! Love, Kay Kay1952
  19. It has taken me nearly two hours to read this thread from beginning to end! Music is vital in my life--always has been. I have an eclectic collection of music and listen to tons of it all day long. I don't work outside the home anymore, so 12 hours a day I listen! I can tell you where I was and what I was doing when I first heard some of my favorite music. I played rhythm guitar and sang harmony in several garage bands in high school. The last was called 'the band'. We never went anywhere or did anything except entertain ourselves and the neighbors. We did EVERYTHING from Kingston Trio to John Denver, to Flat and Scruggs. We liked it and then life got in the way. We broke up and none of us have performed again. Fond memories tho! hiway29-I can remember exactly what I was doing the first time I saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan! It had snowed and I was outside sweeping the circular walk around our house. My mom stuck her head out the back door and told me to come up to see this group called the Beatles. She said they were pretty good too! I did, and the rest as they say is history! Kathy-Great pics of the Beatles, although John Lennon looks more like a Hasidic Jewish man, than a musician! (don't take offense! None intended! He just looks like a Hasidic Rabbi I knew in VA) Sunesis- I was there at Woodstock. Hitch hiked there with my best friend from Milwaukee. I was gone nearly a month and I got the beating of my life when my father asked me if the trouble I was in was worth the trip. I said 'YES'. Was grounded for a year! Nothing but church, school, and supervised trips anywhere except school. Would I do it again! Yepper! Bowtwi-John Hartford! I thought I was the only one who knew of his work and life! When he died, the world became far less because he isn't here. You met him and his family? I am sooooo jealous! I liked what I heard of twi music while I was in. I don't remember the name of the group, but it was 4 or 5 young black men who sang 'Celebration' among others. My children have my love of music. My son Matt says he can't drive a car without tunes! He learned to play bass while in prison, and they even performed for the population on occasion. Anyone who has read my posts knows that I am probably the oldest NSync fan on the earth, except for their grandma's maybe! They are just amazing! Because of NSync I found a group called Euge Groove. One of the members of NSync, JC Chasez, loves soft jazz. Me too! Sade etc. Good stuff! I did a search on Kazaa for him and a song he performed with Euge Groove- 'Give in to Me' led me to search for more. Find more about this group at Good stuff! From there I heard Dave Koz, Sade, and the rest is history! My kids range in age from 28 to 13. They have eclectic tastes in music too. Hard to soft, they listen to EVERYTHING! Wasn't much censorship in twi when I was in. They just asked us to listen to 'positive' music. (I never knew exactly what that meant but didn't get in trouble for my tunes!) Great thread Kathy! Many kudos! Kay Kay1952
  20. I guess I haven't thought of it as courage and conviction. I learned how to listen to God when I was walking alone. So? If I didn't listen I found myself a$$ deep in alligators with no direction as to how to get out of that pond! After the millionteenth time I was being chewed by those alligators it occured to me that I knew the answer all along. LISTEN TO GOD! Thanks tho! Love, Kay Kay1952
  21. Masterherbalst--I hadn't thought of what I was doing for Tim, (and selfishly sometimes for ME) as compassion! I am just one who has never taken the status quo for an answer. I have always believed that there is more than one right answer to any one question. I have found (rarely) that there is only one answer. I understand that food is healing. I am a large woman, and a wonderful cook. I truly understand the phrase 'comfort food'! It lives at our house! We might not have money to share, but we always have food! The rule of thumb here is if you leave my house hungry, it's your own fault! I have had 3 husbands, and Tim is the best! I want him here with me and our children and grandchildren! We have a new grandchild due in March! If we had believed what the stats said, Tim would be gone before that happened. Not available! Period. Keep your work foremost! I will say that I wish we had someone of your caliber here in Janesville. Most people with CFIDS see homeopaths, because traditional medicine has no answers regarding the treatment of it. I am fortunate, (or maybe stiff necked and unyielding enough!) to know that I do know all that is available for treatment of CFIDS, and I have a treatment that works for ME! ( I also don't think that I have ever been called inspriational before!) Love, Kay Kay1952
  22. What's your point? Is it that the idea of chemo with all it's side effects is not life at all? Tim faced the numbers square in the face. Take me home? If it was that easy--most would just give up and go 'home'. I've always ascribed to the idea that where there's life there's hope! where did you want to go with this? Just curious-- Kay Kay1952 ps-- Lightside-I looked at Peregrine, (Interesting that they chose the name of a raptor for their company!) Interesting! K
  23. I couldn't take Tim to Cancer Treatment Centers because our health insurance would not pay for it. Apparently, CTC is still thought of as 'experimental'. I had to battle family when we told them that Tim had cancer. Everyone had some friend, neighbor, aunt, uncle....who had either beaten cancer with some rhubarb mixture from some guy they worked with, (or whatever). The toughest thing to convince them of was that Tim will survive this! They were all asking me what we were going to do with his body, and how I was going to make it through life without him! I was apalled that everyone was so willing to consign him to the dirt without even considering that treatment would work! Kay Kay1952
