Digger, So sorry you had to go through this. You're right...LCM's poor leadership spawned off quite a few egotistical, wisdom-less leaders. Now and then a bad memory will wake me out of my sleep with a sick feeling remembering advice or reproof given that was totally void of the spirit of God. Good question Mj412, Why did we stay? Because we were at HQ and had no where else to go and like Refiner stated, "who would save us?" We knew no God outside the walls of TWI. We had already divided ourselves from our families in a sense. We had depleted all our personal savings living at HQ since they wouldn't cover expenses such as an unexpected need for a new car engine and various other needs that a family of five would incur. Little by little, we had no money of our own. We "owed our soul to the company store." It wasn't until we had asked for several years to be placed on the field that they would finally agree to let us go. (with a few thousand, we were able to finally get out on our own.) Just like someone posted earlier, we believed just about everything they told us concerning God's delight and favor on TWI and what would happen if we left. It's hard to believe now that we actually behaved as if TWI was synonomous with God. Thank God we're out now and I pray that their destructive organization falls to pieces! I still believe that the word of God will live and abide forever though. (In spite of TWI!) Love you all, EH

Hi Dottie, Yes, I'm sad to report. I was at HQ during the baby boycott. I was very close to a woman who got pregnant outside of the guidelines. She and her husband arranged a meeting with her husband's department coordinator to discuss the options. She had an abortion within a week. Her husband was not too lowly on the corporate ladder either. Eaglehouse

Hi Nappy, Just a couple things to add or repeat: If the BOD's are "slacking off" their original agenda, and the innies are passively going with it, they're still being manipulated. Whatever the latest attitude is, we were supposed to follow suit. Do you think anybody would get rebellious to the new change in heart and say, "No way will I buy a house, it's debt, I have all my notes that were taught on this...or, no way will I fellowship with someone not in the household, it's walking in darkness, see I have this in my notes"....and so on. That would be interesting, at least. They had a real issue with money...when we left HQ after serving so many years there and they knowing full well that we sold everything before going into the corps, they offered us an old metal office desk, old used curtains and one of those old octagon end tables that were in Trustee offices. Yes, they did give us some relocating money, but not it barely got us by. On the healing end, a good friend recently wrote me about praying for these people and that the best revenge is living well. I have finally started to understand that many of the deceivers are deceived themselves even the cruel ones. The BOD's wanted to be the BODHEAD in our lives and it blew up in their faces. I only hope that those still in have the strength to get up, to get out and keep walking away from an organization and back into the light of day. Hope you head this way in the spring..... EH

Hey guys, If you can't be honest with the people of twi, then maybe you could stand behind the innies that are witnessing and descreetly make goofy faces to the victims to scare them off. Or, maybe you can have some pre-printed info on the back of one of those twi witnessing cards to give to the people after they've been witnessed to by the innie saying, "I don't agree with The Way International, quick, run right to a computer and look up greasespotcafe.com on the internet!" RUN! Kinda silly, but could be fun. EH

Dear J, The last time I talked to him was about 7 months ago. He was living with some twi people in Nevada. Unfortunately, he was very defensive towards the BOD and sounded like The Way is the Word to him. Too bad, we hoped he would wake up too. Sorry. EH

Dear Wayfernot, Don't feel bad, I still have waybrain, but I display it differently. When we left HQ, I still waved at everyone until my older son told me that I was embarassing him, AND,once,after talking to the grocery store manager on the phone about spoiled meat I purchased, I ended by saying, "love you". I have since changed grocery stores. Love, EH

Wafernot, What a joy to see you posting! I'm so blessed you're back and especially that life is getting better for you. When my husband and I finally told our FC's last September, we felt so relieved. To be able to "start over" with a clean slate/conscience, is such a RELIEF! Good to see you back, Fresh, About, the power twi stole.... As I was reading through my son's history book about American slavery, it said that originally,the slaves were indentured slaves, they were paid and then let go after an agreed amount of time. In the space of about 42 years, the servitude changed into enslavement. So many times men start off on "semi-innocent" courses but when the power hungry become leaders then the course of history follows. Pride, greed, and love of money.... Can't think about it too much, it still makes me mad, but so glad we have this forum (underground railroad) to get comfort. Love you all, EH

I just had to reply because I love these people very much. They did not just leave because of the housing issue although I know that the HQ staff was told it was so. They wouldn't leave over just one stupid rule, (which, by the way was just a "manifestation" of twi's poor judgement within their leadership). It was for much nobler reasons and you all have hit upon it many times on GS. They love God and have done what all of us have done when we realized that our life was being zapped from us by an organization. So, I hope I answered your question TW, without misrepresenting the THXXXS. The good news is that they're "out" by twi's standards. Much love, EH

Insurgent, If it's the Mike I know, he was living in the Sarasota, Florida area with his 2nd wife Pauline and their twins. It's been about 6 years since I've heard from them though, but I believe they're out. EH

Hi guys, There is a Joe and Lucy Wood in New Knoxville. Lucy was of the Zeilman family who may still be in. Joe and Lucy though were recently dropped from the WC. I believe they are now off staff but living in NK. Wonderfully warm, sharp and fun people.

Hi everybody, They were assigned to Winston-Salem, N.C. as of August, 2001. I loved them while at HQ, I sure hope they're out too.

Wayfer, Just hang in there. Just like the posters said above, you will be surprised all the Word and love that's out there. (God is closer than your deepest breathe and you don't need a man in-between to interpret his love to your heart). We were at HQ for many years, during LCM's reign and fall. Finding G.S. was a way for me to see opinions expressed that were totally unspeakable at HQ. Then I was finally able to formulate my inner passions once the fear had subsided. I'm sure we crossed paths many times and I'm so thankful for your honest post and pure heart to let God lead you in the right direction. You are in God's Household regardless of where you hang your coat. Don't get caught up in their thinking of "We're just like the first century church", (which was a "pillar of truth" for me). Just know we love you whatever you decide to do and don't feel guilty for your quest for inner joy. Love, EH
