Song Suggestions Needed...

My son's class got together at the park last week for kickball and a picnic on a teacher conference day.

I took video of it and would like to fashion it into a little music video...

It was a warm, sunny spring day - lots of kids running, playing and sweating! They had a blast.

Can someone please recommend a really appropriate song for this? I'm having a mental block...

THANKS!

It's probably a song that wouldn't suit your tastes, but the opening theme from the video game Katamari Damacy came to mind for me.

While I can't suggest any specifics, I would recommend that you pick an instrumental song of some sort in order to not take away from the video. If there are no words, it's easier to concentrate on the screen rather than what the singer is talking about. Plus it means that you don't have to find a song that is about kickball on a Thursday at a school picnic. If you want to be cheesy, you could even pick the Indiana Jones theme song. If your son is young enough, he might be ok with the Peanuts theme song from the Vince Guaraldi Trio, or anything else Vince Guaraldi has done as it's good upbeat mood music.

Actually, you'd be suprised...

Did you know that I used to have a job testing video games?

No kidding!

Yes - I got paid to LOSE! :biglaugh:

I wish I'd thought of the Indiana Jones theme, tho - that would have been rich!

Anyhow, I ended up going with...

Are you ready...?

MMMBop by Hansen.

I figured the kids would like it and it's almost an instrumental - I mean, aside from the chorus can you name any of the lyrics? :biglaugh:

Anyhow, it's a happy, upbeat song that reminds me of summer. I thought it was approiate for the 5+ crowd....

Dang, another good one - and so obvious, too.

Geez...

Why is it so hard to think of these things when you're working on a project but then when you're done... well, there they are!

I'm going to be doing this project again at the end of the t-ball season, so keep 'em coming and I'll have ideas for the next few years!

"These Are Days" - 10,000 Maniacs (Natalie Merchant)

I love the words:

These are days you’ll remember

Never before and never since, I promise

Will the whole world be warm as this

And as you feel it,

You’ll know it’s true

That you – you are blessed and lucky

It’s true – that you

Are touched by something

That will grow and bloom in you

These are days you’ll remember

When May is rushing over you with desire

To be part of the miracles

You see in every hour

You’ll know it’s true

That you are blessed and lucky

It’s true that you are touched

By something that will grow and bloom in you

These are days –

These are the days you might fill

With laughter until you break

These days you might feel

A shaft of light

Make its way across your face

And when you do

You’ll know how it was meant to be

See the signs and know their meaning

You’ll know how it was meant to be

Hear the signs and know they’re speaking

To you, to you

For the parents, you might spin "In My Life" by the Beatles. Add a little slo-mo, and some closeups, and you'll be handing out hankies.

Purple Haze, Hendrix...no, that's no good.

Red Rubber Ball, by the Cyrkle?

Like your choice! One of my daughters loved Hanson, actually took her to a concert in Nashville many moons ago. I enjoyed it to. Mmm Bop was one of my favorites.

Every New Year's Eve, the song "What a Wonderful World" is played with slow-mo's and stills. I have been impressed with that every year I see it. Louie Armstrong sings it. Maybe in the beginning you could do some of those other songs suggested but end with this one. Especially the end of the song when it ends with that "Yeah, yeah". Perfect ending! ! ! ! !

Did anyone say this?

Lazy Day

(Music by George Fischoff-Lyrics by Tony Powers, copyright 1967) - Recorded by Spanky and Our Gang

Blue Sky, sunshine, what a day to take a walk in the park.

Ice cream, daydream till the sky becomes a blanket of stars.

What a day for pick-in' daisies and lots of red balloons.

And what a day for hold in' hands and being with you.

(Refrain) Lazy Day, just right for lovin' away

Lazy Day, made for a stroll in the lane;

Baby, you and me (baby, you and me)

And the honey bee ('neath a shady tree)

Lazy Day, Lazy Day, Lazy Day for (**'n') you and me.

Blue sky, sunshine, flowers bloomin', *children say-in' hello.

Row boats, bird notes, People smilin' everywhere that they go.

What a day to be together, and what a sky of blue

And what a day for think-in' right out loud I love you.

(Refrain)

What a day for pickin' daisies and lots of red balloons.

And what a day for thinkin' right out loud I love you.

Lazy Day, just right for lovin' away

Lazy Day, made for a stroll in the lane;

Lazy Day, just right for lovin' away

Lazy Day, made for a stroll in the lane.
