Here's the next one.

It's not the opening line but I think it's pretty recognizable.

(At least I hope so.)

"Now the sun's coming up; I'm riding with Lady Luck, freeway cars and trucks".

Finally thought of the name of that song -

Knew the artist - The Eagles

Knew the album - On The Border

Knew the melody....

And finally the circuits made a connection -

Ol' 55 by the Eagles

Now I need to come up with another song,

Be back in a few.....

You got it!

Written and recorded by Tom Waits but far better known for the treatment it received from The Eagles.

You would be shocked and amazed by the long and winding road by which I came to identify this song:

It has something to do with VH1's, The Drug Years, and "Season of the Witch"...

Anyway, I think it's "Catch the Wind" by Donovan.

It sounds a little Dylan-e, did Dylan do it also, or does Donovan just sound like him on the early recording?

Waysider, do you know?

You are correct.

It is, indeed, Donovan.

Dylan has never done it, though it certainly has that same kind of flavor.

When Donovan hit the scene in the mid 1960's, he was often referred to as the UK's answer to Dylan.

(He is Scottish)

That particular style was quite popular at that time.

Lyrics were of utmost importance to this type of music.

Another singer/songwriter that took a similar approach was one of my all time favorite "folkies", Eric Anderson.

Eric actually started out as a contemporary of Dylan.

Anderson, Dylan and Phil Ochs often played the same clubs in Greenwich Village.

Here is Eric Anderson in 1970 in case you would like a sample.

Waysider, thanks for that interesting piece of musical history.

It seems that Donovan started out trying to emulate Dylan, then moved into more of a psychedelic music direction.

Which is more what I associate Donovan with, songs like "Season of the Witch", "Mellow Yellow", and "Hurdy-Gurdy Man".

Okay, on to the next song:

You got me running goin' out of my mind

WW, are you saying that this song would bring you down?

Okay, here's the first and second line:

You got me running goin' out of my mind

You got me thinkin that I'm wastin' my time

Okay... a clue within a clue there...

"Don't Bring Me Down" ELO (Electric Light Orchestra)

I'll post a clue later...

Money For Nothing-----------------Dire Straits

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I know you want to leave me"

"Ain't Too Proud to Beg" - The Temptations, and I think the

Stones did it too.

Man, that's a great song...I've got to go listen to it now.
