The Way said to pray for NO DREAMS

Yup. Docvic used to say "10 minutes of S.I.T. is better than 8 hours of sleep", (or something to that effect).

I fell for a lot of what he said, but that line there was so absurd and over-the-top it defied credibility even *back then*.

He started with that sort of thing in pfal, when talking about speaking in tongues.

He said it was "rest to the soul", and then began expounding further from there.

He claimed he'd gotten to the point that he never dreamed.

Horse manure- if he wasn't INTENTIONALLY lying, he simply DID NOT REMEMBER his dreams.

People deprived of the ability to dream when asleep- that is, being kept awake or

awakened just as it starts- will have their bodies recalibrate to compensate.

So, if you're not getting ENOUGH sleep (REM-sleep tends to occur at the END of the

sleep cycles, so wake up early and cut off the dream-state),

then your body will adjust so that you'll go into REM sleep soon after falling

asleep. You'll end up dreaming during short naps.

Avoid sleep entirely, and you will discover you'll go into a waking state of dreams.

Now, THAT, if anything, might scare the uneducated, since it seems like you're

awake and yet you're "hallucinating" or "receiving" something,

when it's just your body's "emergency dream" system.

I knew that even when I heard victor paul wierwille expounding that nonsense.

I said "he just doesn't remember his dreams" and let it go at that.

It should have been a warning that he made sh* up to cover when he had no idea

about something.

. . .

I believe this was mentioned in "The Challenging Counterfeit", people able to work the 3rd shift and stay alert and such. Just a thought that vpw may have heard this from somewhere else. (I don't have my copy of the book handy, otherwise I'd verify what it says.)

Maybe kind of a silly point, but I remember that "no dreaming" teaching as well. So I condemned myself for years because I dream a lot. Then one day I was sitting in my living room and my dog was sleeping on the floor. At one point her little paws started moving and she started very softly barking. My dog was dreaming about something and I thought, "Hmm...is my dog out of fellowship? Does she have unresolved issues from her childhood that she hasn't worked out? Then I wondered what she could possibly be dreaming about. Perhaps, in her dream, the mailman actually stayed on the porch instead of leaving. Maybe the mutt next door ate her bowl of Alpo.

Obviously God can talk to someone any way He wants. I just don't think we should laud it too high.

ROLFLMAO!!

thanks Sir G for the quotes.

Thanks for all the responses. I know it was taught at some point, just didn' t know how far back , and what was the point.

I am so glad to be out of that sess pool of dung.

I love my ''religious'' life now.....♥

Donna also taught that having a quick shower might perk you up better than a quick nap.

See, you really don't need sleep at all, just SIT and shower a lot.

Didn't they also teach that dreams often meant visions (= revelation), and you were fully conscious during them, watching like watching a movie? As opposed to dreams, where you have little or no conscious involvement?

"Your sleep may be sweet" I always took to mean "sleep may be refreshing and undisturbed by nightmares" not undisturbed by dreams.

Dreams.....I know I quit dreaming when I was in TWI...

I know I was sharing a bedroom with a twig leader...and she would wake me up if I was dreaming and would say, "Get into fellowship, you were dreaming".....I didn't want to go back to sleep just out of fear! This happened lots over time. Somewhere along the way, I did quit dreaming though.

Now I dream, good and bad and I don't think too much about it.

Yes, Bol...the Happy Birthday song....I laughed.....we did sing, "may all your dreams come true" didn't we?
