Hi Pirate! Hi George!

I've got nothing myself at the moment. Has it really been nearly 7 years, Pirate? That must at least be a record of some kind. Lots of folks have participated here. Lots of years we were really hopping with many folks posting stuff but then folks lost interest.

You want to know what I think was a big culprit with people losing interest?? Being able to post YouTube clips. Seven years ago it was a big deal to click on a link in a post and hear music. It took a lot of time to teach posters how to do it. But now, anyone can post a YouTube and you get both music AND video so just linking to a song isn't nearly exciting. That's what I think part of it is anyways.

Interesting that Led Zeppelin would threaten legal action, since they stole almost all of their music from a band who's name I forget at the moment, but have heard it all documented.

HeeHee

Yeah, Zep really just took old blues tunes(Lot's of Muddy Waters/Willie Dixon stuff) and "electrified" them.

Muddy did a psychodelic album of his own back in 1968, that blows the young up and comers clean out of the water in terms of what you could do with the blues to modernize it.

It was called Electric Mud.

It was only about 40 minutes long and sold a grand total of about 100,00 copies.(Quite a feat for a blues album)

One of the guys from Zep even said this album inspired Black Dog.

Included on the album is a cover of The Stones' tune Let's Spend The Night Together.

It's so powerful, if you ever hear it, you will always want to giggle when you hear Mick doing his own song.

Muddy hated this album because it was impossible to duplicate in a live setting which is where he spent most of his time.

'nother big influence for Zep was Spirit.

Listen to Taurus sometime and it will forever change the way you hear Stairway To Heaven.

I read here quite a bit but can't do much aside from youtube stuff.

Always a very enjoyable place to visit.

George,

Ohh.. that was good!! I could recognize about half of them as fast as it was going. Hollywood had some real beauties however, why anyone thought Sophia Loren or Joan Crawford was good looking is beyond me. I'll look around and see something I can post.

That's cool. Saw my all-time favorite in there - Natalie Wood. It doesn't get any better than that.

I ran across this the other day in my internet travels. It's a poll that was taken by the UK newspaper Daily Mail asking people, well just guys probably, to name their favorite Bond girl. These are the results:

1. Ursula Andress as Honey Ryder in "Dr. No"

2. Honor Blackman as Pu**y Galore in "Goldfinger"

3. Diana Rigg as Tracey Divicenzo in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service"

4. Eva Green as Vesper Lynd in "Casino Royale"

5. Barbara Bach as Anya Amasova in "The Spy Who Loved Me"

6. Famke Janssen as Xenia Onatopp in "Goldeneye"

7. Michelle Yeoh as Wai Lin in "Tomorrow Never Dies"

8. Lotte Lenya as Rosa Klebb in "From Russia With Love"

9. Jill St. John as Tiffany Case in "Diamonds Are Forever"

10. Carole Bouquet as Melina Havelock in "For Your Eyes Only"

Now I can't argue with most of these selections except for one: Lotte Lenya as Rosa Klebb

Those British dudes obviously have a much different definition of the term "Bond girl" than I do. Yikes!

George,

Those are some pretty ladies but I'm not that good at picking out who's who. The lady in the middle in the Betty Grable pose is Jill St. John, no? And to the far right in the yellow bikini.. there's a lady showing a famous naval, I believe.

Far right in the yellow is Barbara Eden from "I Dream of Jeannie", the gal in the white bathing suit with her back to the camera is Shirley McLaine (I think.)

Whoa! How did I end up here? I musta taken a wrong turn at Movie Pictionary...

Hey guys,

Here's a new composition I got today in e-mail. We're down to so few folks that maybe this is almost a private thread now-a-days. and of course this isn't really nostalgia as it is a recent composition. Folks might be surprised at who wrote and conducted it, though. Click HERE!for nothing more than a pretty good march. OK.. I edited the file so it shouldn't be too hard to guess who wrote it. :biglaugh:
