Savage Garden's "I Want You."

The song is sung faster than it looked with the words posted that way.

If you were waiting for confirmation WordWolf (but you probably weren't, you knew it) I looked it up and that's Savage Garden "I Want You".  You are correct.

I always like to wait for confirmation, especially if it's "official" (the poster says it's correct.)

Next song.

"Out of my window I can see them in the moonlight,
Two silhouettes saying goodnight by the garden gate."

WordWolf you haven't posted the answer to my clue yet.  At least from what I recognize with the page turning over now.

"My sister should have come in at midnight,
And my mum would always sit up and wait.
It always ended up in a big row
When my sister used to get home late."

"Out of my window I can see them in the moonlight,
Two silhouettes saying goodnight by the garden gate."

"Another Saturday, another date.
She would be ready but she's always make him wait.
In the hallway, in anticipation,
He didn't know the night would end up in frustration.
He'd end up blowing all his wages for the week
All for a cuddle and a peck on the cheek."

"My sister should have come in at midnight,
And my mum would always sit up and wait.
It always ended up in a big row
When my sister used to get home late."

"Out of my window I can see them in the moonlight,

I can make tonight forever or I can make it disappear by the dawn.

And I can make you every promise that has ever been made and I can make all your demons be gone.

But I'm never gonna make it without you.

Do you really wanna see me crawl?

And I'm never gonna make it like you do.

Variant lyrics: not sure which is correct. Sounds exactly the same though so doesn't matter:

This is EVERY LYRIC EXCEPT THE TITLE

I know just how to whisper and I know just how to cry

I know just where to find the answers and I know just how to lie

I know just how to fake it and I know just how to scheme

I know just when to face the truth and then I know just when to dream

And I know just where to touch you, and I know just what to prove

I know when to pull you closer, and I know when to let you loose

And I know the night is fading. And I know that time's gonna fly.

And I'm never gonna tell you all the things I gotta tell you but I know I gotta give it a try.

And I know the road to riches, and I know the ways to fame.

I know all the rules and then I know how to break them and I always know the name of the game.

But I don't know how to leave you and I'll never let you fall

And I don't know how you do it

TITLE.

Every time I see you, all the rays of the sun are streaming through the waves in your hair

And every star in the sky is taking aim at your eyes like a spotlight

The beating of my heart is a drum and it's lost and it's looking for a rhythm like you
You can take the darkness from the pit of the night
And turn it to a beacon burning endlessly bright
I've gotta follow it 'cause everything I know
Well, it's nothing 'til I give it to you

I can make the runner stumble
I can make the final block
And I can make every tackle at the sound of the whistle
I can make all the stadiums rock

And I can make tonight forever
Or I can make it disappear by the dawn
And I can make you every promise that has ever been made
And I can make all your demons be gone

But I'm never gonna make it without you
Do you really wanna see me crawl?
And I'm never gonna make it like you do

Trivia: This song reminds you of Meat Loaf because it was written by Jim Steinman, who has a distinct style. Steinman wrote, if I'm not mistaken, all the songs on Bat Out of Hell I, II and III (Yes, there was a III). Among his non-Meat Loaf hits are It's All Coming Back To Me Now by Celine Dion, Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler, Holding Out For A Hero by Bonnie Tyler, Read Em and Weep by Barry Manilow... and this one.

I knew Steinman wrote all of Meat Loaf's songs- Meat Loaf wanted "Bat Out of Hell 1" to have the credit of "Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman" but settled for "Meat Loaf (lyrics by Jim Steinman)".  I knew he wrote the Celine Dion song, and all the songs on his own solo album (which tanked and was generally forgotten.)  I never realized he wrote for other people, but this makes sense in hindsight.

Still don't recognize it.

George

I can't name the artist.  This song was in rotation when NY had an all-love-song station, and showed up in their TV commercials (and 1 commercial when a different station mocked that station and a few others.)

I think the song is called "Making Love Out of Nothing At All."
