Fantastic Four

After years of messing around, it now looks like this movie might actually happen.

There's a confirmed cast in place:

Reed (Mr. Fantastic) Richards: Ioan Gruffudd

Sue (Invisible Girl) Storm: Jessica Alba

Johnny (Human Torch) Storm: Chris Evans

Ben (The Thing) Grimm: Michael Chiklis

Interesting choices.

I had to look up Ioan Gruffudd to find out that he's Lancelot in "King Arthur."

I know nothing about Jessica Alba, except that she looks Hispanic which seems an odd choice.

Never heard of Chris Evans either. Apparently his claim to fame is "Not Another Teen Movie."

Michael Chiklis seems perfect.

It'll be interesting to see how this turns out. They're shooting for July 1, 2005 release date which seems ambitious since filming hasn't even started yet.

Man, I hope that thing works better than

"Catwoman."

Fans could forgive it for having nothing to do

with the original if it was good.

(Like "Blade".)

As it is, you don't want to hear the nickname

for the movie in certain circles....

I'm waiting for more info on the FF before

making any judgements.

A bit of a disappointment.

It's not as bad as "Daredevil" but it doesn't come close to "Spiderman" or "X-Men."

Too much talk and not enough action. The characters whine constantly, and while there was a certain amount of that in the comics, on the screen it just seems annoying.

There are plot holes you could fly the space shuttle through and Dr. Doom comes across as a cheap Darth Vader knock-off. The acting is pretty wooden except for Michael Chiklis, who's not bad as the Thing.

One thing's for sure: the idea that Sue Storm had to be naked to be invisible never came up in the comic books of the '60s.

Not terrible, but it could have been a lot better.
