Boston Red Sox - New York Yankees

gloating ? If you're referring to what's posted in here, I've yet to see it.

Last I looked the Sox still had a huge lead, and the Yankees hopes for a playoff spot are hanging by a thread. There's nothing to gloat about.

The pro Red Sox posts in here outweigh anything pro Yankee by a huge margin. Mstar and Bolshevik alone make up a huge cheering section.

For myself, I don't gloat over something I have nothing to do with. If I'm part of a team maybe.

Btw, Hiway... I'm glad your Dodgers won today. :)

I'm very happy the Yankees are still in contention, but I agree with my esteemed fellow-poster: I find that the ability of the Yankees to win or lose games bears no relation to the number of posts I write in their favor. So I'll cheer when they win, mope when they lose...

Yes, I know the Bosox had a great lead over the Yanks, but being swept three games cut that lead quite a bit. If the Yanks continue to be hot in September, then the Bosox would be better to play anyone else. Kind of like letting the clock run out when you're ahead.

But I like Bolshevick's motto.

The Yanks just swept yet another series over another team, gaining one game more on the Red Sox. I changed my mind. I think the Red Sox should face the Yanks at least one more series, take at least two of three games, then that should seal it. Then again, if the Yanks take two of three or sweep again, the BoSox are in serious trouble.

Red Sox, win like you did in the first four months of the season!

GO RED SOX!!!

Hey Eagle, why don't you root for the Indians?

Hey Eagle, why don't you root for the Indians?

I was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. Grew up watching Yaz, Tony C., the Hawk, George Scott, Joe Foy, Mike Andrews, Rico Petrocelli, Reggie Smith, Elston Howard and Jim Lonborg. Saw them play against Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, and the rest of the early to mid-sixties Yankees.

Most of the time they lost, though. Until 1967, anyway.

My wife roots for the Indians. She is Ohio born.

One of my worst nightmares is coming true.

The Yankees just took a game from the Red Sox again in a four and a half hour game comeback to beat them 8-7. This cuts the Red Sox lead over the Red Sox to 4 1/2 games. It used to be 10 1/2. Worse than that, in the Wild Card race the Yankees are leading by 3 1/2 games right now.

The Yankees at least have a credible shot at beating the Red Sox as a wild card, and a long shot (yet still a shot) at overtaking the Red Sox altogether. The reason is, the Red Sox are somewhat slumping while the Yankees are on a hot streak.

In 2007, the Red Sox and Yankees will fight the pennant race to the end. Now we'll see who goes to the World Series. Still rooting for the Red Sox.

HiWay 29. Thanks for that info!

14 1/2 games is a great correction...but it only means the Yankees were able to cut that lead by 10 games. They probably won't catch the Sox in time, but the Wild Card will most likely be theirs. The Red Sox were the Wild Card winners the last time they won the World Series and broke the Curse of the Bambino.

This could make for an interesting situation at the eaglehouse come playoff time!

as it could be Sox/Indians in the ALDS...

Id be curious what you'd wager with Mrs. Eagle

Yankees win. Yeah!! I luv it !!

Of course they're still fighting for their playoff hope life, so I'm only 'luving' it so much.

yeah Shelley Duncan-whoever that is, is a jerk. Of course Yankees and Yankee fans are untrustworthy and criminals as I've been informed. I wonder if Manny ever did something like that, and I'm not saying he would, if it would be excused as 'Manny being Manny".

On further thought-if Duncan did that he's a complete dunce, and the kid and his family are owed an apology. In my cynical old age, there's a part of me that wonders if someone didn't tamper with the autograph, though I doubt it.

Of course, this poor kid gets to listen to 'Yankees Suck' chanted all game long, just as "Red Sox Suck" is serenaded in the Bronx. I'm so glad to be away from all that. I cringe whenever I hear that at Dodger Stadium, usually for the Giants. I'm sure that kid has heard 'suck' and probably uses 'suck' 10 times a day, which certainly doesn't excuse the 'autograph'. It's just a sick culture we live in, and good ol Shelley Duncan is probably not much more than a kid himself , used to hearing and using the term 'suck' his whole life.

Just more fuel for the feud fire, and for the righteous Red Sox fan to blame the Yankees, their fans, and New York for one yahoo .

No just another example of the 'class act' that is the New York Tankees. I dont know who started that rumor ( a Madison Ave PR firm?) but they certainly have gotten a lot of miles out of it over the decades...

Classic game, baseball doesnt get much better than Rivera vs Ortiz with runners on and 2 outs in the the ninth.

I have no complaints, (well...some managerial decisions I do and the announcing of ESPN --aye yi yi ) all that I was wanting in this circumstance was one out of the three game series anyway, and I got that.

..If NYs miracle comeback of Friday doesnt happen its 2 of 3, Take away Schillings one hanging splitter to Jeter in the 8th last night, which Jeter homered on ( which was a classic battle btw) and its a sweep, then the Yankees could have battled the last few weeks with the Tigers for the wildcard.

Thats pretty much probably not gonna happen Now, I doubt it will exactly go to the wire but there will be alot of jockeying for position, especially with the new playoff formats

Good baseball no matter how you watch it.

not quite as classy as having to line the field with riot police so the Red Sox could escape alive after a win---Now that was classy!, dodging those batteries, cherry bombs, and other projectiles was an adventure in genuine metropolitan sophistication, and a lesson in the true giving "Spirit Of New York".

They are such good sports!

There is nothing quite like having to be escorted around by stormtroopers to make you feel all warm and fuzzy about a city, a team, and its fans---and all those free batteries! what an extra treat!

A real world class city of classy classness

Yup, Boston hasnt caught up yet, all it has is one lone streaker--but hey we try!

Boy, the 'dislike' is really spewing. I'm SO glad I'm out of that hellhole that is New England and New York. If that's your idea of 'fun' then you can have it.

I'm still getting used to being thought of as untrustworthy, and someone who needs to have 'an eye' on, for being a Yankee fan.

The wager is, if the Red Sox win...I get to sleep with her. If the Indians win...she gets to sleep with me...

On another note, the Red Sox dropped another and the Yanks won, the Yanks cut their deficit to 3 1/2 games behind the Red Sox.

I'm beginning to lose it here...

Maybe it's time for your annual eye exam...the projectiles you speak of were the balls going out of the park..in baseball terms they are called home runs. :eusa_clap::confused:

as I recall..a few of your Boston fans jumped into the Yankee bullpen a few years back..got pummeled by a couple of Yankee pitchers.

At any ballpark your gonna get a few crazy arse fans doing crazy arse things. Whether it's Fenway in Boston,Yankee Stadium in NYC Jacobs field in Cleveland or Camden Yards in Baltimore there will always be arseholes. Beer and Crazy Arses are a bad mix at any ballpark especially during key playoff implication games .

As a New Yorker I would never judge the city of Boston by the few idiots that cause trouble at Fenway..I would hope you would do the same with NYC. Why generalize man!! I will always remember the unselfish response NYers unleased during 911. Priceless!! A few drunkin sports fans can't void that memory. It's only a GAME man!!!
