Editing Home Video

Recommended Posts

Chas just landed a couple of sweet gigs as the viedographer of the school boards (our town has two of them!) and the town selectmen meetings. I'm using the school's Sony Handycam for the job. It's a nice little camera - it records on the mini-DV tapes. I want to be able to edit it on my computer.

Does anyone here do that? What software do you use? How involved do you get with it (like special effects, voice overs, etc.)

I'm having fun, but I'm ready to take it to the next level.

Thanks!

Chas:

If you really want to take it to the next level get a Mac G5 and use Final Cut Pro. For what you are interested in doing it is, in my opinion, far and away the best.

It will handle anything you want to do.

I got a G5 - it's hubby's actually - but it's a good little 'puter. Never considered using it for this, but that's because I'm mostly a PC person.... We may even have Final Cut Pro on it - it came with a bunch of stuff on it because we got it second hand. Hmmmm.....
