  1. Whatever is going on, its really sad that all this 's___' has to get in the way of the movement of the word of God. What has it been, 20 years since the TWI stuff was raging and here we go again with good people getting hurt! I guess it comes down to the theory of the frog and the water....try to put a frog into boiling water and he will jump out right away, but put him in a pot of cold water and turn the heat up slowly he will stay there until he dies.... <_<

  2. Hey you two, it's a good question, no sweat.

I asked it myself not too long ago.

WayGB is a play on KGB of the old Soviet Empire.

Compared to people who have really had to engage in a real sense, the WAYGB is a group of cartoonish buffons, unless TWI (The Way International) still has it's hooks in a family member or old friend. In that case they can be very cruel however.

The first few times I saw it I thought it meant the Way of Great Britain.

ROFL!! Oh that is toooo funny...

....but on the other hand I would not put it past them either!! Kinda scary when you think how close to the truth it might really be!

  3. ok I got one!

I was in a small music group that played for the 'twigs' and other functions. I mean we really had a good time. There were four of us in the group, including the wife of our fellowship leader. One night the twig leader told us that he wanted us to play some Roy Rogers song for him (I was so ....ed about it I cant even remember which one to this day!), but we all thought he was kidding because that was his nature...most of the time he was trying to be humerous.

Then one night he called us all together and began lighting into us (or 'reproving' us to be PC) because we had not taken the time to play this dumb-@ss song for him, and proceeded to tell us how selfish we were being and on and on and on...it was a total joke! Needless to sya three out of the four of us said "f___ this" (bet cha cant guess which one wanted to keep it going!)

So in my mind that was pretty stupid, I dunno; what do y'all think?

  4. One book I read that I absolutely fell in love with is "The Lakota Way" by Joseph M Marshall III -- in it Mr Marshall gives you an insight to the spirituality and wisdom of the Lakota indians - fabulous book.

Another he has written is called "Walking with Grandfather" which discusses the wisdom of the elders....

You wont be able to put them down!

    Happy reading!

  5. Michael B

Your washer and dryer do not eat socks, Opra told women years ago to steal them to keep us guys guessing..

    copenhagen

Ya know, I shoulda known that! Hey ...maybe I'll start doing the same thing...umm, lets see? Undies or bra's -- wonder which one I would get in the least amount of trouble for.... :biglaugh:

  6. Hmmmmm.....sounds like my house...

...Only my problem is that I have a drier that eats socks! I swear I put socks in by the pair into the washer, make sure that every piece is transfered into the drier -- then all is taken out of the drier to the couch to be folded (making sure that I do not leave a trail to the couch) and start folding. I usually end up with at least one if not two socks missing a match.

    ARRRRGHHH! :realmad:

One of these days I am gonna go crazy and disect the drier to find them (or go on safari in my house for the sock monster!) :biglaugh:

  7. ((((((Hope))))))

    God bless you....

I lost my father and there isnt a day that goes by that I dont miss him... I know what you are feeling - there are no words that I can say to make it better, only that I will pray for you...

Although the pain never goes completly away, believe it or not it does get easier to cope with day to day...

    Michael

  8. It’s been seven years…

I’m still reluctant to read the Bible. I don’t trust my own conclusions because I still don’t know how much of what I think is Waybrain, what is right or wrong. I prefer to stay away from doctrinal stuff and stick to inspirational or comforting things.

.............I would appreciate prayers. Anyone else been here? How did you get out?

    Welcome "another spot'....

I hesitate to speak for anyone else on GS because of the diversity of each persons experiences, but I can share mine with you. I had many of the same questions as you. After my wife and I left TWI (or were dropp kicked), we searched for a home church or somewhere to worship all the while trying to get as far away from TWI's doctrine and mannerisims as possible. Not that all the doctrine was bad, but in my opinion the good was destroyed by all the wacko stuff that was allowed to occur.

One thing that I could never embrace in the Christian culture is the 'trinity'. TWI taught that God and Jesus are not the same person, and that I have taken with me (although even as a young child I never believed that anyway). The problem that my wife and I have found is trying to find a home church that does not cram the trinity down your throat. For this reason, we actually now have embraced the Messianic faith (Jewish failth that accepts Jesus as the Messiah) and found that to be a nice fit. TWI (at least in my experience) always taught that the 'old testimate' doesnt apply to us' and thus put all the attention on 'the new testimate'. I dont agree with that and feel cheated now because I never learned anything about the old testimate within TWI. Maybe that was not the case anywhere else in TWI but that was at least my experience.

I guess to make a long story short, God is still God - no matter how distorted TWI made Him, and Christ still sits on His right hand. If you can dismiss everything else and start again with that as your building block and begin to study the bible for yourself, you will begin to build a relationship with God the way He wants you too.

I hope this helps....thanks for tolerating my long winded post....

    Michael.

  9. ok here's another....(I think the lady on the bus is from TWI!)

    "An intoxicated man"

An intoxicated man gets on the bus late one night, staggers up the aisle, and sits next to an elderly woman. She looks the man up and down and says, "I've got news for you. You're going straight to hell!" :evildenk:

The man jumps up out of his seat and shouts, "Good heavens, I'm on the wrong bus!" :biglaugh:

  10. Heres a Cowboy joke...

A young, well-educated man on a business trip gets on a plane to find himself seated next to an older, weathered man in a western snap shirt, faded jeans and a cowboy hat. Thinking himself above the old cowboy, the young man decides to make sport of him.

"You know," he says, "I've heard these flights go much more quickly if you strike up a conversation with a fellow passenger. So, let's talk."

The cowboy looks at him wryly and says, "Well I s'pose that'd be all right.

    What'd ya like to discuss?"

"Oh, I don't know," says the young man with a hint of sarcasm, "How about nuclear proliferation?"

"Hmm," says the cowboy, sensing the young man's attempt to belittle him, "That could be an interesting topic. But, let me ask you a question first horses, cows, and deer all eat the same stuff---grass. Yet, a deer passes little pellets, a cow turns out a flat patty, and a horse makes muffins of dried poop.

Why do you suppose that is?"

Dumbfounded, the young man replies, "I haven't the slightest idea."

"So tell me then," says the cowboy with a smile, "How is it that you feel qualified to discuss nukes when you don't know 's---?'

  11. To me when I think of Waybrain, its all the euphemisms (or expressions) that came with being involved with TWI that probably none of us were in the habit of saying.....

Things like "I'm so blessed" or "that blesses me".....

How about "thats just not 'best'?" <_<

Or the ever famous "renew your mind" :nono5:

or the more commonly used one....."Thats so devilish!" :evildenk:

    -----------------------

...I dont want to give off the impression that I think someone is a wierdo if these are part of their everyday vocabulary, its just for the life of me I personally never remember using those words and phrases before I bacame involved with TWI. Every now and then I slip and use one of these before I can catch myself - God forbid I should sound like a 'wafer'.... :biglaugh:

I can also remember how I couldnt listen to commercial Christian music as it was 'off the Word' and would lead me astray....

    ...wow...

  12. ......BOY!

Do I feel like an infant at only 69 posts!

Congrats to you all the same fellow GS-er.... :eusa_clap:

  13. It's not your turn, Michael.

However, being in a gracious mood and not having another episode at my fingertips, I cede my turn to you.

At first I was tempted to guess "Who Mourns for Adonis?" but I realized that the "god who bleeds" was actually Kirk in the episode where he loses his memory on one of the countless doomed planets in the ST universe, actually marrying one of the inhabitants. An eventual mind-meld with Spock restores his memory in time for the two of them to activate a repeller ray to save the planet. Kirk's pregnant wife dies, though.

    George

    OOPS!

My most humble appologies George....but you are correct, that was the episode.

Are there do's and donts posted somewhere in the thread so that I dont break regiment again?

    thanks....

  14. I just had to get this thread going again didn't I. We should subtitle it MILF.

My latest story. OMG. I am a student so 90% of the men I am in contact with are young enough to be my own kids. Well there is this community where you can share homework and ideas with others in your class called facebook. I joined because if I miss a class due to work or kids I have a way to contact someone to get notes and homework assignments. Well one of the boys in my class 21 year old boy has been corresponding with me. I figure he is a nice boy and maybe a bit lonely and needs a friend. Nope that wasn't it. he finally got up his nerve told me he thought I looked half my age (which I know is line because it is nowhere near the truth) that he thought I was hot and he wouldn't mind if I would be his girlfriend. OMG at 43 it's still happening. There are so many pretty and shapely girls his age and he wants to date me!!!!

well I gave him the smiley, told hiim he was sweet, and told him he should find someone who would out live him. Now I know why it was so hard to find a date when I was in my 20's. They were hitting on my mom

    --------------------

    WOW!

I keep thinking back to my 'dating days' and I would be embarassed to be that bold (or perhaps rude?) to a woman...I guess in a way it could be taken as a compliment perhaps that you are turning the heads of these young bucks over all the little cuttie-pies out there he has to choose from...Just remember the '30 second rule' might still apply.... At least you're moving in the right direction...21 now instead of 20....

Maybe ask you Mom what she did in those cases.... :biglaugh: (sorry, not wanting to make light of your situation...)
