  1. Hi, Holly

Here's a link to a rather lengthy thread (39 pages) that deals with some of the darker aspects of L.E.A.D.

Unfortunately, many of the dangerous aspects of L.E.A.D. were not abandoned when they came to light, as you will discover in reading the thread.

And there is this one, as well:

Thanks! I just spend almost an hour reading the postings. OMG! As I read I began to remember some of the stories I heard a long time ago. Memory is so strange. Thanks again!

  2. I was a kid in the corps and kinda remember (a long time ago) when corps had to hitchhike accross the county in 48 hours, with only $50 - then begin the LEAD training. Does anyone remember that? I know they stopped the hitchhiking part when it started to get dangerous, but kept the other part. What does LEAD stand for? I also can't remember the final test - was it being in the wilderness for 24 or 48 hours with no supplies?

    thanks!

  3. I grew up at HQ and never saw or experienced anything that compared to the Tony and Susan Alamo Foundation.

However, I saw kids being spanked with wooden spoons and then their parent put their hand over the baby’s mouth until they stopped crying. I remember the colon cleanse and couldn’t understand why I had to drink slimy/gritty water for a week. It was disgusting! It was hard to go to school and see kids eat and know that I wouldn’t have a meal for a week. Then – raw sauerkraut and grapes just didn’t cut it! I also remember some of my friends being sexually abused – not because TWI promoted it - but because their parents were too busy with meetings, witnessing, and working to be around to supervise.

  4. You may be a TWI tool if.....

... you spent money on a class but not your brakes which are worn out and need replaced.

... you have ever tried to "Mark and Avoid" the internet.

... you ever raved about WOW burgers.

... you only socialize with people at functions who had ministry name tags. (Not newbies)

... you miss once-in-a-lifetime events with your kids to attend a class you've taken more times than you can count.

OMG! WOW burger! That is great!!!

  5. I know it has been years since you posted this and you may have already been in contact - but Fred is in Corpus Christi, Tx and Vivian is in South Carolina. You can email me if you want their contact information. I am sure they would love to hear from you. hollyc@nova.edu

  6. I grew up headquarters and knew Wierwille. I always found Mrs. Wierwille to be loving and caring. She had a Christmas party every year in the basement of the house. Anyone remember that??? She always served the same ice cream squares, lol.

I was probably 9 or 10 years old when Wierwille taught me how to shoot a gun. He and another person (I can’t remember who) were shooting at targets over the pond and I was watching. He asked me if I wanted to try, so he put the shotgun in my hands and told me to be ready for a kickback. I shot and it knocked me on my butt. It was a long time before I picked up a gun after that. Strange!!!
