  1. My son has lots of soccer tournaments in Phx and we found the Drury a really nice, newer, affordable hotel with indoor/outdoor pool and excellent free breakfast. I think they have free happy hour drink coupons as well.

  2. Thank you for the kind words. I'm sorry I derailed the thread. We should talk about something else... How about the fact that my son, home from finishing his first year at University of Chicago, my 14 year old daughter, and my 11 year old son have hijacked the family room for the last 24 hours to watch "Christmas in July" on QVC. They definitely put life in perspective for me... That's not true they confuse the heck out of me, but I think they are so entertaining.

What about you? Ever watch/buy from QVC or the Home Shopping Channel?

  3. I think I am ready to tell someone, and since I've actually met a few of you and think so highly of our visits...

My son, Troy, passed away June 16, 2009. He was 27 and battled testicular cancer. He was Mini corps F-12. I am devasted...

  4. I think that those who have seen a trickle of truth in their lives or who have learned a truly meaningful lesson of some kind would be silly to think they can "master" life or get all they need out of it in one lifetime...I find the more I learn the more I need to learn...

So, I think reincarnation is possible...

  5. I of course I'm looking to purchase a house where the gays are buying. Those folks do amazing things for property values. Nothing like the eye of a good homosexual to revitalize neighborhoods and add curb appeal. Fabulous!

    And look no kids!

I mean since we are generalizing it's okay to say that right?

  6. WW,

The first place I look is http://foundationcenter.org . You can use the free search by state, zipcode or name. The key is to pull up their IRS 990 form. On that you can find (usually page 9) giving history, deadlines, if they accept unsolicited proposals and guidelines. You can also find who they funded that year and see if you are the type of group they will consider. Some even include a copy of their application as an attachment.

  7. Has anyone ever calculated the cost in lost tax revenue to states and the feds if these people could file joint rather than single? Could that be more the factor than the protection of "marriage"?

    Just curious...

  8. I guess you're right... I was thinking it would be a reasonable assumption to expect people would have vacations planned in the summer and make allowances for that. My last company set up panel interviews over a three day period in the afternoon...but that was a non-profit.

  9. Do you really want a job with an organization like that? There has to be something better waiting for you...

Send them a thank you card for the opportunity and state how disappointed you are to miss the one day due to an out of state family gathering. It's possible, if the candidates aren't that strong, you may get an interview on the next line up.
