Thank you!!!
Thank you for making me laugh when I usually do just the opposite at the mention of TWI
Your sense of humor is awesome.
Your references didn't check out . . . because they were in Ohio, but should be back around the first of September.
TOOOOOOOO FUNNY
Still laughing,

Hello, Maria!
Going into the service was probably a very wise choice. Who knows what hurts may have happened to you, had you stayed in the states while the s**t was hitting the fan here.
I look forward to reading your future posts, should you decide to write more.
Welcome and I'm glad you're here!

I lived in Deerfield, Illinois. I remember that it was summertime, but I don't recall it being any hotter than usual.
I cut through our kitchen and my mom stopped me and showed what she was watching. Right after that, Armstrong floated/bounced down the steps and I heard him say the famous line. I acknowledged that this was a big deal and returned outside to play . . .

I have seen Barb within the last 15 years, but not RECENTLY. She was living in northern Indiana (Merrillville or Dyer) and was married to Scott Faust. Hope this helps . . . ?

Funny, I don't remember the toga party....... The keg party was held at lake Ray Hubbard............I remember we didn't always do things the TWI way though.
Hello all!!! I remember Oenophile, Jim Wood, CA Dreaming, and Exxie from the WOW year. I lived near you, CA Dreaming, and drove a 1961 Dodge Pioneer. Could fit four COMFORTABLY in the cavernous back seat.
I'm not sure how I missed the keg party at the end of the WOW year . . . I was probably there but just don't remember.
I decided to take some time "off" today and somehow ended up in GSC. What a fun place! Have enjoyed reading several pages of this thread, where you planned and pulled off the 2006 Texas BBQ. Got a kick out of your various definitions/descriptions of authentic Texas BBQ.
I live near St. Louis, am single-again (AKA divorced), have two AWESOME daughters. TEach high school English, am working on becoming a reading specialist. Am playing a fair amount of music, (gigging makes nice part time job and gives me an excuse to play every day) and have managed to write (maybe) a CD's worth of children's music . . .
Would love to hear from y'all.

You rock! Thanks for your insight. I agree -- very saddening and also very embarrassing to think of the time wasted -- youthful years that could have been much better spent

Okay, GSG - time for me to fess up.
I am an Illinois fan. I was born in Illinois and I live in Illinois at this time.
I have been a basketball fan for years, played one year on the college level. When our family takes a vacation to a different city, we even take in a pro game occasionally.
I have several teams that I follow and Illinois is one of them.
Go Illini!

Song of the moment

I am into comedy type songs lately. The one I want to learn (and perform, if I can get through it without losing it in laughter) is by Adam Sandler. It's about Hanukkah. Some of the lyrics go . . . [something like] . . . "Here comes Hanukkah! Drink your gin and tonicca! Smoke your marijuannica!" My 14-year-old daughter played this song for me and we can't stop smiling . . .
