  1. Hi all, thank you so much for your kind thoughts and prayers. To set things straight, both my mom and dad were in the tenth corps, not the seventh.

I was Lightbearers with Bob and Lorraine in Fort Worth, Texas and also their younger Corps. We had a wonderful friendship. I met them in Arkansas as a WOW when they were Lightbearers staying with me. Although I haven't seen them in many years, my heart sank when I heard this. I have known Bob to be a kind, loving, young at heart brother. There were times when I remember him looking after me and taking care of me, especially in twig, something that can't be erased from my heart and mind. My love to Lorraine, a sweet and loving woman.

  2. By golly HAP, you could be right. Non the less, an in-law. Congrats ex to you and them.

When My wife and I had children I said "I'm getting a daughter" four times.............in a row!!! With a couple of years in between of course. What a joy to my life. I trust it will be for you too.

  3. She was a friend of mine back when i was in Philadelpia (I'm embarresed to say but that was back in 1979, Damn I'm getting old,)

Nothing to be embarresed about out there. I was there in 79 too before I went WOW that year. If the Lord doesn't return really soon you're gonna get older. So am I. May as well livinit.

  4. When I first saw this thread I thought it was about a surfer who wpied out!

My head is spinning. I think I had too much of that wine everyone's pouring out....or is it spiked tea in a coffee cup?

  5. I think I got the point satori. And for one thing, it at least got me thinking about how thankful I am for those of us who have been blessed with good health. My mother is 92 yrs. old with a sane mind, still able to get around (with some 92 yr. old aches and pains), loves God and the Lord Jesus Christ (and lets people know it), still cooks pasta for her guests, and shows signs of remembering better than I do.

I have compassion for those who are in not so good situations, and I trust that the God of all comfort takes care of those here in that kind of need for you and your families.

  6. topoftheworld

I think it was "Don't Fence Me In". 10th is actually my elder corps but it doesn't seem like much happening with the Dirty Dozen thread. Someone said, "not much commitment there". ???? But thanks for the welcome.

  7. Ambassador Room (smacks forehead)--how could I forget.

    topofthworld....

Don't tell me you forget all those "neat, cozy, bring your back jack" afterglows up there in the good ol' Ambassador Room too! Got to give your forgetful brain more credit than that.

  8. Topoftheworld,

(what was the name of that place-above the dining room?),

That was called The Ambassador Room. Next to it was the Fireplace Room.

  9. You were Rich@rd C@@ks WOW brother?! Sweet! He is a great guy! I learned a lot about patience and organization from that man. God love him, I do too!

That man had to be organized. He had a whole stack of BIBLE on his wall on shelves. In brail of course.....and he knew where everything was. He organized his bills in his wallet so that he knew exactly what he had. I think the only thing he didn't know was where the opening was from the kitchen to the living room ....he kept crashing into the wall, thus, all the coffee stains on the wall.

He is definitely a good egg. I learned a lot from him too. Anyone know where he is?

  10. Doojable-----I hear what you're saying but I think you're missing the point I'm trying to make. I know that countless times David prayed to be delivered from his enemies and pursuers of whom Saul was the leader. Regardless of this, David never scattered Sauls bones all over the "street". In fact, he did the opposite. It's recorded in II Samuel 21 below. David still loved Saul. This is the point.

I know that everyone has a point of view, and that's what this is for. And it's good to esteem each one's view for what it's worth. I think the view of II Samuel 21 is worth noting!

    II Sam.21:10-14:

10 And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.

11 And it was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.

12 And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabeshgilead, which had stolen them from the street of Bethshan, where the Philistines had hanged them, when the Philistines had slain Saul in Gilboa:

13 And he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged.

14 And the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son buried they in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the sepulchre of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was intreated for the land.

  12. Hey What the Hey, oldiesman, & anotherdan,

Thank you for your posts. I don't recall David ever laying " a hand" on Saul, regardless of how screwed up Saul got. Apparently, some may not see the comparison but that's OK. I for one have received much fruit in my life because of VPW. I know I'm part of the minority here and nothing I will say will change that. That's fine too.

Those here who have good intentions.....well, God's the judge. Besides, good intentions never get the job done. So I suppose this thread will continue until the Lord returns.

  13. Yeh, Bruce was a card, wasn't he! And the Firkins......I remember making JAL a sweatshirt, making a caricature of a firkin (looked like a chipmonk with buck teeth) and the caption, "Firkin Country". I kind of looked forward to those basketball games.

  14. Richard Cook...I wonder if he is the same Richard Cook who was sent wow to DC in 75-76? I haven't heard that name in close to 30 years, but for some reason I can picture a tall, dark-haired guy...

No, Richard is a short, blind guy who had a dog named Zorro. What a kick! They were 6th Corps, both Richard and Zorro. They were my WOW brothers in 79-80. Let me know if anyone finds them, Please!
