That's what really stuck out to me. The signifigance of the communion.

I remember thinking as I watched it, "why didn't someone just explain it to me like that when I was a kid."

It made so much sense the way Mel put it in there.

    haha, anim-smile.gif that was funny!

Up here in Seattle they just took an art deco sort of ferry in for restoration. It's called The Kalakala, and it's so incredible looking.

    I'll try to post here.

  3. yeah vickles...I heard she died too.

Now watch, they'll make a huge deal out of how violent the movie is by suggesting it incites people to die suddenly as it's so shocking!! icon_eek.gif

I'll tell you, though I haven't seen the movie yet, I'm just going nuts over the so called reviews from the so called media. They are mostly negative. I'm not sure what any of them were expecting when they knew it'd be a movie about Jesus' crucifixtion.

C'mon shelley, I mean really...what were you expecting?

  5. Well said Socks.

I too was raised Catholic and in twi we were made to think that the pope was an agent for evil and all the statues in the church amounted to idol worship.

In retrospect, watching my relatives worshiping in that way taught me a lot about the love of God.

Maybe it's not the way I worship today, or maybe I don't believe the emphasis should be on the death, rather the ressurection.

But I think everyone needs to get a glimpse (the real thing was probably much worse) on the suffering that Jesus went through for us.

  6. Rocky, you actually bring up a good point.

The mormons have used advertising for years, but then again so have other religions and cultures.

I remember right after 9/11 we'd see ads from the Saudi govt. telling us we they were our friends.

Certainly, there is a lot of controversy there, but they are allowed to do it. This is a democracy and free enterprise still exisists after all, so, someone(s) complaining wouldn't make a dent, I believe.

When I see those Mormon ads, I think about poor Elizabeth Smart and how if she wasn't brought up the way she was, she might not have gone along with the psyhco so easily. But, then again, they are allowed to advertise.

I say let them have it. It is their right to do so, although I'm not sure who they're trying to reach with other peoples money.

Never ending cycle...recruit more people using other people's money to get more people's money, and so on.

I know mine is not a popular view, but I believe it all comes out in the wash in the end.

  7. WrestleNot...

I am a radio jock and you're right on.

We do not hear, pay attention or give two hoots what is being advertised. Only that the spot is playing!

Writing Imus wouldn't do any good, I can assure you.

If twenty people wrote and said "I don't like Brawny paper towels, they leak. You must stop advertising them" I doubt very much he'd lose much sleep over it.

Whereas ads and content should compliment each other, that's not always the case. $$ is $$ and $$ rules...radio and TV!

  8. Back on the track...

    Wild!!

Drove from CA to Columbus, OH for ad. class '79 with a buddy (where'd you go Joe?)in a car that kept breaking down and with very, very little $. Miracle we made it, really. Had just enough for a bus ticket home and a couple bucks for food. Hooked up with another attendee of the class in a similar situation and as we witnessed to people on the bus, they began to feed us...all the way home. Seriously, I only had like two dollars.

    Weird!

A friend, who knew I knew where John Wayne lived, got revy to witness to the dying movie star. He wanted me to tell him where his home was. He was misguided, but the thought was completely good hearted.

    Stupid!

Living in a "way" home with other girls. Two of which were wild women!! This is serious, but worth repeating....I almost got raped by one of their boyfriends. I ran like hell, but it was soooo scary.

    Beware of da way!
