Whats the differance between light,mid and heavy strings for beginners? Which should I use and why?

I was able to play a song the first day by using the same fingering as my violin - "Red River Valley". The strings are much harder on the finger tips though.

I took your advise and bought a mandolin on e-bay with a DVD instruction with it. ($41.00 total) Looks and sounds great. Can you suggest any beginers book to use?

I bought a violin on e-bay for $60.00 with a book and a CD. In 4 months time I learned to play 6 songs very badly but I have a lot of fun. My friends just smile but It's not easy without lessons.

My two cats will immediately leave the room when I start to play. Do you think that is a sign?

Anyone have a suggestion to help me out? Know a good book or CD?

My daughter told her mother and I that when she finally settles down to a Law Firm she wants us to live near her. Her reason is that she wants children but she doesn't want just anyone to take care of them when she is at work.

She wants us to care for them because we did such a good job with her. She thanked us for her childhood. WHAT MORE COULD A FATHER ASK FOR?

She is 25 now and lives in Tokyo. We miss her a lot, especially today.

Hopefully she will be home soon and settle down.

One hour is fine with me.
