  1. Many of you will remember that it quickly became verbotten to NOT get married in the Corps Weddings, and you were on VPW's short $h!t list if you did otherwise.

I remember VPW discussing it frequently, at every Corps Week, publicly naming and denigrating the new couples who "egotistically" failed to get married in the most recent Corps Weddings, and "selfishly" tied up clergy schedules and lavishly spent money on private weddings and receptions to satisfy their own egoes and their unbelieiving families.

Several years later, I believe it was a couple in the 6th Corps (I believe it was the Wajnbergs), who got married outside the Corps Weddings, who stood up at an open mic one Corps Week after yet another one of VPW's public demeaning tirades against people who refused to get married at the Corps Weddings. They stood up to VPW and bravely defended themselves in public.

Can't resist chiming here. I am one of those selfish bast*rds in the 6th corps but I married "outside" the Corps.

No room in the mass wedding for us let alone VP doing it. 29 years later we're still going in spite of he predictions and after reading cat's post I would have been one of those guys who fainted.

Thanks for the post Cat brought back lots of memories.

  2. Sorry about the gloating but you know not often we in Seattle get to sweep the Red Sox.

Oh yeah I think it is 8 for 8 now at home.

The Angels notwithstanding see you Sox fans in the playoffs.

    Mariner Fan

  3. Interesting topic Belle, I was in a meeting the other day with some egghead type computer programmers and one of the guys was going off on how people didn't understand them, well the whole room was ready to burst into laughter because his grammar was atrocious.

Sometimes I feel like I am a professional email reader and let me tell you that the English teachers in this country have failed miserably. No offense to our dedicated teachers who most likely are ready to flame me.

I probably read 300 plus emails a day at work and respond to about half, my only rule of faith and practice is at the very least use a spell checker. Thank God GSC has a spell checker or I would be embarrassed by this post.

I will be a guinea pig for anyone who feels compelled to correct this posting and please don't hold back give it to me with all you have. I always enjoy seeing how I can do things better even little things like posting on GSC.

We as a nation would do well to adopt standards about language but I am afraid that the entire topic crosses over into culture and political correctness. I "axe" you is it wrong to teach that the word is "ask", or is it racist?

There are numerous examples of these types of errors in our country, to what extent should we attack the issue or should we just let it go until dialectics are the rule and not cohesive speech.

Bring on the critics, I love it.

    God Bless

  4. Dude, my brother said the same exact thing about it being haunted. We should call TAPS and have them do an investigation!!

Ha Ha that is funny I love that show did you see the one where they were in the basement and the guy was standing there and ran away.

I figured that the room I stayed in was the shock therapy room or the lobotomy room.

  5. " Remember when Janice killed her boyfriend and Tony came to clean up the mess? Then she left for Washington State and came back as a Christian? Then she preyed on Bobby? She is sick....ewww!!!!

Yeah I witnessed to her in Kirkland WA where I live.

  6. I have about 6 pieces of unreplaceable furniture peices

has anyone used a ground shipper...did you find it cost effective...?

These two concepts don't exist together well.

I am in logistics for a large company. Two words Insurance, Insurance.

    Good luck

  7. Ok here's my one cent.

Blake is fresh, Jordan is a 17 year old amazing, Melinda was a worn out Gospel Singer.

I LOL when she tried to be hip. Like me trying to dance to hip hop.

Anyway both Blake and Jordan tried out in Seattle the place Simon said had the worst talent he ever saw in a town.

Space Needle this Simon top two,

Only thing I regret is Sangiha (SP) was from Seattle too.

  8. :offtopic:

Yeah dish on the little leaguer (sp)

Home runs are fun but baseball is about the games within the game. That is why Tim McCarver does the best analysis.

Back to Bonds, I actually knew his dad Bobby, he would most likely be prouder if Barry got a few more golden gloves and a lot more stolen bases.

My son played HS basketball and was a kind of jock, don't believe for one minute that the steroid thing didn't filter down to that level.

I grew up in the Bronx 6 blocks from Yankee Stadium, could here the cheers from my apartment.

I love baseball but man I am really sick with the state of the game. Maybe we should just open the borders so to speak. Let Rose in the Hall. Crown Barry the hr king. Take the * off Roger's record and lower ticket prices. While I'm at it we should put a muzzle on Curt, give Randy a wheel chair to come in from the bullpen and make Jose the new commissioner.

Rambling: but the real change in Baseball would come if congress just took away the Anti Trust exemption. There would be a major league team in every burg.

  9. Did steroids play a big or small part in Barry Bond's HR total?

Fact: Bonds has never failed a steroid test.

Fact: Steroids were not against the rules in the early '90s

Possible Fact: Pitchers used steroids too.

Fact: Bonds admitted to taking steroids mistakenly, he thought they were flax seed oil pills.

Is baseball an embarrassment because of this steroid use. Did Jose Conseco tell the truth.

So many questions and so many opinions what do you think?
