  1. I thought the initial post in this thread was excellent. Well thought out, well presented, thought provoking, and especially interesting for those who may still have questions about good vs evil concerning VP.

It is an opportunity to examine what he actually did as opposed to what some believe he taught (truth).

There is a word for someone who preaches one thing and does another......and it is not misandry ....it is hypocrisy.

Seems the topic has a life of its own.

I agree with all you wrote.

"Seems the topic has a life of its own."

Sometimes when someone can't defend and prove what they stated they move the topic to one they believe they can debate better. I believe that is what has happened here.

  2. "Was vpw a good man?" No he was not a good man. What he did was evil. Making excuses for him is wrong and evil. He knew better. He knew right from wrong. Shame on you for making excuses for him. BTW you could give me a million examples of evil and that still will not make me think vpw less evil.

  3. I am sorry to hear this. He was the the first one to contact me when I was new here. RumRunner was always kind to me and helpful. My condolences to those who loved him.

  4. Hi Caleb! I want to welcome you. I am Lizzy and I mostly read here. It is an interesting place. I learn a lot here by reading. I laugh too. There are intelligent people here with great sense of humor. You don't seem to me to be the type that would quit posting here just because someone disagreed with you or misunderstood you. I don't think "oversensitive" would describe you. I like that you encourage debate. Maybe it is those that disagree with you that you want to hear the most? Nothing wrong with that. How can we learn if we always agree? You said you wanted discussion and you got it! I look forward to reading what you have to say.

  5. Thanks for your comments and such.

Just to be clear, The main site will NOT close. The maintenance on that is fairly simple.

The forums will be available in one form or another indefinitely. I've gotten a lot of ideas. The worst case scenario is that I make the forums read only.

This is good the main site will not close.

Maybe you need a holiday from all of this for a short time? Have the forums read only for a week , three weeks , six weeks or whatever is best for you. Have a date posted when the forums will be open to post in again. A short break might actually be good for everyone? Maybe you can make a final decision what is to be done after the short break? No matter what pawtucket do what is best for you.

  6. It would be nice if Bumpy could defend himself here publicly, but he can't, he's been barred. For instance, a few posts back, Paw said that Bumpy had been suspended "numerous times" which according to Bumpy is completely untrue, non-factual, to him, a fabrication. It seems to him that he's been chucked out unfairly and spoken of disparagingly with out the ability to defend himself while others judge him. As a matter of fact, I remember him being suspended only one time, not numerous times. So what's up with that? And, I am not Bumpy's "champion". He is a grown man, and can defend himself quite well. I opened this subject up because he is a friend and I think the subject should have been aired and he can't do it himself. The reason he is in agreement that this has been aired publicly is because the "automated response" offered him no information as to why he was kicked out. Well, I'm tired of this too for nothing will change...

Bumpy/grumpy is your friend? He is real? You have talked to him? You really know him?

I thought he was a made up character. Really I did. I thought he was created by a Troll. A manipulative troll.

I hardly ever post here. I read a lot though I don't read everything. So I am sure it is me that should mind my own

business. I don't even know why I posted today. To me it seemed as though you are being used by a manipulative troll.

I don't even know why I cared about such things earlier today. I am going back to being just a reader.

  7. Here is the message Bumpy eventually got from the owner of the site. I've been given permission to post it:

    Bumpy,

    > Your member account at GreaseSpot Cafe has been temporarily

    > suspended.

    >

    > Your account will not be functional until Jun 29 2018,

    > 08:16 PM (depending on your timezone). This is an automated

    > process and you do not need to do anything to expediate the

    > unsuspension process.

    >

    > Board Address: http://www.greasespotcafe.com/ipb/index.php

And so first of all: Until 2018? Most posters here will probably be dead or geezin' bad by that time. And second of all, there is absolutely no explanation at all as to WHY he got suspended. One would think that if one broke the rules, the suspended one should at least be afforded the courtesy as to WHY he had been relegated to the suspension heap, ya know? But no. And ya know, even though we are all "cyber people" here, in reality, we are all actually real people here, and if Bumpy was supposedly discourteous, at least he has the right to be told just how he was, in the eyes of the moderators, being discourteous.

To me, this lack of an explanation shows a serious lack of courtesy, and throws a shadow over why there was his suspension in the first place. Maybe Bumpy just isn't "liked" by the moderator and was thrown out because of it. And if those are the rules here: "We don't like you so just leave", then fine so be it, it is your site as RR stated. But I didn't think this was a place like that. And it's weird too ya know? WD, Oldies, Mike and me aren't liked by many, but they/we are still here. And even though I was a blatant violator of the rules (calling Rascal an expletive), I was banned for but a month. But Bumpy for ten years and without an explanation? Just seems pretty unfair, that's all.

And so, maybe Bumpy's "offending post" should be displayed here for all to see and judge. How bout it? Post it. He has expressed his desire to have his offending post displayed, so go ahead and do it so we can see if it is way worse than the offending post that earned me a one month suspension...

Oh, and yeah, I forgot one more thing about his suspension notice:

"This is an automated process and you do not need to do anything to expediate the unsuspension process.".

Gee thanks. Kinda like an automated response form letter from someone who you supported faithfully as a Way Corps Sponsor: "And by the way, don't bother writing me again and asking why I don't want any more letters from you....

Why is this any of your business? If Bumpy needs answers why is he using you to get them? He doesn't know how to contact Paw? I think he does. I think he is using you to do what he likes. What do you think?

  8. I am a newbie. Not real new I have been here almost a year. I mostly read.

I am so grateful that there is a GreaseSpot Cafe. I won't go into details but I will say that reading here

has helped so very much. I like the people here. The ones I agree with and even the ones I don't.

Funny some of you are. I didn't expect to laugh so much when I first found here. :) Someone you don't think you know you may or they may know someone you do know or once knew. It is a small world.

  9. Here’s an idea for the 1st of the the month...? :eusa_clap:

How ‘bout if the “powers that be” were to DELETE ALL previous GS posts from time immortal until today? That’s right, what would happen if we started all over, right from the beginning, fresh with no previous topics, threads, nothing? How would we start? New guide lines for a new time? No previous garbage to read through. A NEW Grease Spot, maybe all new avatars? Rewrite the constitution, set term limits...a new club.

What would be the result and who would be interested??

    Bumpy,

Are the replies what you expected?

What were your expectations when you wrote this?

  10. Living With the Passive-Aggressive Man

    By Scott Wetzler

    a snippet

Under certain conditions, passive-aggression can be a healthy, highly adaptive response. Call it subtlety, tact, humor, restraint, altruism or even courage it is also passive-aggression. Humor or diplomacy, for example, can defuse a highly volatile situation and prevent the dropping of bombs, real or metaphorical. More dramatic cases of passive-aggression are the "nonviolent" protests led by Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr.

For anyone who is oppressed, truly deprived of power and with no other means of resistance, nonviolent protest is one way to get feelings and demands known: the lone Chinese student stalwartly defying a tank moving on him in Tiananmen Square is now a universal symbol of such defiance. To assert oneself, without showing inflammatory anger, is, in this case, healthy.

There is a clear distinction between healthy and neurotically played-out passive-aggression. It's the difference between tact and avoidance, humor and obnoxiousness, civil disobedience and plain obstructionism. You know it when you see it in action. A healthy person uses passive-aggression to help him achieve his goals. Neurotic passive-aggression clouds issues and gets you nowhere.

To some degree, passive-aggression describes everyone, normal as well as dysfunctional men and women. Its universality may be compared to a commonly understood feeling like anxiety. It may be an unpleasant emotion, but anxiety serves a psychological function necessary for survival: it signals us to take action when faced with impending danger, motivating us, hopefully, to perform at our best to get us out of the scrape and to a better state....
