  1. While I give little doctrinal weight to the writings of the RC saints, I think that what Mark posted is signicifant

in that it shows that some people in the Western Church had at least a general/cursory understanding of some

of the things that VP claimed hadn't been known since the first century.

I also find Church history and tradition somewhat facinating for the simple reason that it can help us understand

how and why many Christian doctrines were developed - and how many have evolved -- from the time of the

apostles through both the RCC and Eastern Orthodox Church's into Proterstantism and now in to modern

Evangelic & Pentecostal Christianity -- and other current movements such as the now popular and growing

"prophetic movement and even stuff like "Jews For Jesus".

It's probably too late to way in on this discussion, but what Joey said

hit the mark with me, not the Malley Mark.LOL.

I too am fascinated in what people believe, and why they believe it.

If I found one person on this earth who shared the same beliefs I have,

I would be amazed. I mean all of them.

The RC's had their Marcion,{I think he translated some of the Epistles for them}.

They threw him out of the fold only to have him rival their church in numbers. He threw out everything

    except Paul's letters.

It's been a long time on that read. and no I am not Marcionite.

I believe people who belong to denominations share beliefs, but not all the beliefs.

Even you Mark could get a good argument from a fellow Catholic.

  2. Believing and faith are not the same word. I understand Wierwille's argument and he was very wrong.

If you want to have two words that come from pistis, faith and belief are it (or faith and trust, I suppose). Making it an infinitive changes everything...into false religion.

Faith implies an object of that faith, one in whom you have faith. It is, properly, an inherently religious term. It implies trust and reliance on the one in whom you have faith. Faith is a gift of God (Eph 2:9) and it pleases God. It is God-centered.

Believing is an act of the mind. That is why common Way usage became "believe for". It implies action...works. It points back to the person and their own thinking. It is mechanistic and self-focused.

That, my friends, is the difference between true religion and one that is utterly and irrevocably false.

    Evan

    Truly said.

The scriptures are clear regarding the faith principle.

  3. HP techs are very polite, but hard to understand, and for sure visa versa. The credit card thing is only if I don't restore to factory settings. I wanted around this loophole because it takes so long to get the PC the way ya like it. So I'll restore, get the drive, and install. I bought it at Sams Club in a bundle deal. Can't build one as cheep. Also I bought an extended warranty from Sams for 3 years, which will allow my kids to have it under warranty. I trade up every 3 years, and give one to my kids.

So I have 2 years left on this PC, and maybe by then they'll have all the bugs worked out of Vista.

Thanks all for you help and support,

    God Bless,

    CWF

  4. Called HP again today and ran over everything once again.

I tried to boot into Bigdaddy Linux this morning and the drive ignored it and booted into Windows.

It's safe to say the drive is a gone.

I asked them why I should do a factory restore, since the drive is plug and play. and they said it's policy, otherwise

they can send me a new drive without the restore if I give them my credit card #.

    Still under warrenty.

    Strange goin on's at HP.

  5. Reinstalled the drivers many time to no avail.

    Here's the drives symptoms.

    Insert DVD or CD.

The light that I can see in the bay comes on for 3-4 seconds.

No auto play though it's turned on, and all other drives respond.

Say, I use NeroShowtime or Media Player.

    Click to open movie.

    Click appropriate drive letter.

2-3 seconds, Nero or Media Player says drive not ready.

All other programs respond in this manner, drive not ready.

I checked my BIOS and it's there.

Checked Device Manager and it's there with no issues.

    It's recognized by Windows.

Click drive icon in My Computer.

Folder opens saying there's nothing there, even though I inserted a DVD or a CD.

Did scan disc, defragmenter, PC doctor, and the like.

PC Doctor says the same thing, drive is not ready.

    Ready for what?

    To Work?

    Sheeesh............

I think the virus was coincidental.

If it's a corrupted system, Norton, Adware, Spybot, and Spyware Blaster has no knowledge of it, even in Safe Mode.

Even reinstalled Prevxl, another Norton type program that caught something awhile back.

So it's off to full system restore.

HP won't look at the PC until I restore it to factory.

Thank God I have another SCSI hard drive to copy files to.

I'm going to see if the drive works from a bootable disc.

I have a copy of pclinux -bigdaddy that boots and operates from a CD.

If the drive doesn't work from a boot, I think I'm safe to say the drive is dysfunctional.

    What say ye?

  6. Thank you all.

I followed all the instructions from Norton, and still can't run the DVD R/W. So I must restore before HP will look at the drive. I'll give NOD32 a try after the restore.

  7. cman

    Thanks for the input.

I have run all diagnostics and can't find the problem, so I'm just about done saving eveything of the hard drive. If restoring back to factory doesn't do the trick, it's of to HP. One question I have. Can I save all the Sevice Patches, and where would I find them. I think they are all in the Windows folder. Or should I just let the Microsoft Sight upgrade them?

    Thanks

  8. It infected system restore, so I couldn't restore it to an earlier registry.

Talked to the guys at HP in New Deli Sandwich and it was as if they were reading a fix from a card prompt. Man they are hard to understand. Anyway in order to fix my problem I may have to save everything for a year, and reformat. If that doesn't fix the problem, HP will install a new R/W drive. It's still under warranty.

  9. I don't know how this stuff gets by Norton Security but it does. Sometimes I think they invent the stuff just so I have to keep upgrading. Anyway I got infected by 2. One Called td.exe and the other tdd.exe. Norton slammed the door on them only after they did something. Now my R/W drive doesn't work, says it's not ready, yet everything says it's working properly, and when I click some program icons, Windows installer wants me to reinstall Office. The icon isn't related to Office

Is there anyway of getting around a full recovery?

  10. Excommunication is the result of Sin--adultery, criminal offense the like.

What is sin to a Mormon?

Is sin based on the 10 commandments, and are there more amendments to what sin is?

    Who judges and condemns sins?

If the truth where to be known about all LDSers {sin free}, would any be allowed in the Temple?

Where is the reference to becoming Gods of other planets written?

Why didn't the Apostle Paul know this, and if he did, where is it written?

Not that I would want to wrap my head around another telephone pole of thought, but it's sounds as though LDS have many incentives in becoming and staying LDS without all the hangups other works based denom's have, especially for the males. Maybe a little fear, but just a little. More of a Ronco Religion, but wait there's more!

    I mean you know disrespect.

I, like Danny, had only the first installment of "show 'n tell".

  11. I'm using my old hard as an external backup. I was able to delete all the old files except 2, the old WINDOWS and Documents and Settings folders. These 2 will not delete for some reason, and because of them I couldn't reformat the drive. So I tried ridding them in Command Prompt, but my DOS is not so gooda.

    Any help would be apprieciated.

    Peace in God,

    CW

  12. What a strange place this is.

This subject has turned into the bizarre.

As far as end times go for me, it's gonna go down regardless of belief. Our wills cannot start nor circumvent the things of The Almighty. Whether one is pre-trib, mid-trib, post-trib, I know I have more to work out with God in just the day I am living. You know, take no thought for tomorrow...........

For cripe sakes. I'm over 50, and if the Lord should come tonight, I'm ready. If I should die, I'm ready. What is important is, are you ready, {just like the song}?

Why make life the work of looking under rocks?

Just because I can think it doesn't make it so.

I don't know how many times I've looked to the heavens and said, Lord Come.

John was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day. Is not every day the Lords?
Everyday is The Almighty's and we are to rejoice and be glad in it.

The Lords Day in Revelation is Jesus Christ's.

He [the Antichrist] will confirm a covenant [an agreement] with many [of Daniel’s people: “Israel”] for one “seven” [the final seven years of Daniel’s prophecy]. (Dan. 9:27)

How do we know today that it will be the Antichrist who signs the peace agreement? The prophecy goes on to say this: “In the middle of the “seven”[the final seven years] he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing of the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him” (Dan. 9:27). It is the Antichrist who will “put an end to sacrifice and offering,” “set up an abomination that causes desolation,” and who will witness “the end . . . poured out on him.”

The peace agreement between Israel and the enemy of God will mark the start of the final seven years of Daniel’s prophecy—which applies to the followers of the Old Covenant.

What is the significance of this to the followers of the New Covenant? Where will Christ’s church be when this peace agreement is signed? The church will already be gathered into Heaven. (See chapters 2, 3, and 4 of The Prophecy.)

The Gaza pullout is a major step forward in the peace process. Truly, events are moving toward the peace agreement, and the church will not be here to see it. That’s how close we are to the fulfillment of Christ’s prophecy regarding his return for us.

Are you setting the clock to this event?

  14. In the first place we do not renew our own mind, God does it! …and the true metamorphosis that takes place is changing from the hard-hearted, dog-eat-dog, watchin’ out for #1 babe to ‘perfect’, (mature) loving, soft-hearted, grown children, walking with our Father in love, carrying out the ministry of reconciliation.

    Ain't that the truth!

Got to love the message of God's never failing grace! Walkin in the spirit's the only way. To think we/I could ever discipline the flesh by our own minds (works)!

Priest said the same thing when my father died. Told him to get out of my home, and don't expect a cash handout for his mumbo jumbo (Dad was catholic and Mom was taught their phobus). The priest foamed at the mouth mumbling something out the door. Never saw the jackass again.

    Great Post!

Then one of the elders asked me, “These in white robes—who are they, and where did they come from?” I answered, “Sir, you know.” And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore, “they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them. Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” (Rev. 7:9-17)

Rev 7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Rev 7:15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. KJV[/u]

I think verse 14 is the key that these people are not us. We have not washed our own robes and made them white, because salvation is received by grace upon belief and not by works.

1Co 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

We are washed by the finished works of Christ in this age.

Eph 3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things:

If it was hid, then it was hid, and everything about it.

Col 1:26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:

    I believe we are unique!

    Dancing,

What are you all torqued about?

There are many takes on end times.

  16. revvel

Christendom had forsaken most of the spiritual truth's of Gods Word, and especially the truths that pertain to this present dispensation. Salvation was replaced with the sinners prayer and or works, and denominational beliefs replaced the Body of Christ.

The signs of the Return have been on going since the Lord sat down on the right hand of God. Believers can't predict the when of it, but they shouldn't ignore the many signs that smack dab them in the face.

  17. revvel

In your secound post, you worked the word, "Parousia", and yes that's what the word means, but are you saying that all the events of the Lords Coming take place at the same time? Not sure where your going with this.

Didn't want to trainwreck this thread with dicussions on why I don't believe in Universal Salvation. I believe it's been discussed and debated before on other threads. I'm more curious in what revvel has to say about the End Times, so forgive me for not discussing Univesal Salvation.
