  1. You're right. It was getting too long. I am far from being an expert but was surprised at your amateur reference. Granted, there is much background to the phrase, the Bible being the revealed Word and Will of God. Regardless of numerous writings on the subject, it boils down to the fact if one believes it is or isn't. My point was that the additional nomenclature in this field of study was usually meant to discourage, dilute or distract for the central meaning or significant, that God authored the Bible to communicate the salvation of man to be through his son, Jesus Christ. IMO and in my life, it has been revealed to me that it is. All the other ancillary items which are titled topics posted throughout this site are just stuff and to paraphase a familiar saying, all this stuff comes and goes, but it is the Word of God which lives and abides forever.

    Sincerely. :)

  2. I am forever thankful,

I am so glad that it all worked out for you So_Cal1.

But my emphasis was meant to be on those who did something and not on me who did nothing.

Please understand I am not beating up on myself but many of us are benefiting from something others have lived through.

Just wanted to make it known that they are not taken for granted.

You did something noteworthy. You stayed home.

  3. "All the time and effort and investment into God's Word are the precious treasures you will have FOREVER!"

I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but keep in mind some things when you say sentences like the above. For instance, what you're referring to when you say "God's Word." You might want to check out information about fundamentalism, inerrancy, the canon, other documents not included in the canon, dispensationalism, translation of scripture, etc. the list goes on an on. It ain't as simple as you might think; certainly not as simple as The Way made it look...

You can never be a wet blanket. However, those are big ten dollar words largely labeled by people who do not believe the Bible is authored by God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ.

    Bless you!

  4. Imagine, I ditto your post. It was a great entree to learn about God via the Bible. I met many great people and experienced many wonderful moments. If you were looking for truth in the scriptures, it was there. If you were looking for truth in people or organizations, you would find disappointment. For me, it was a one-in-a-lifetime journey.

  5. I do not know the timeframe of this decision but from possibly every perspective biblically, morally, emotionally and just bloody common sense, your decision to stay put was the Right One. I cannot fathom anyone or anything from the true God to attempt, suggest or convince otherwise.

After six months in college, I considered going WOW and forsake the college education my parents prepared for me since birth. At that time the WOW program was new and the excitement of witnessing and studying the Bible fulltime promised to be an adventure to my youthful ideals. I went to the local TWI leadership as a sounding board and for advice regarding this major decision. Should I commit my life to God as a WOW Ambassador or continue my college education? After some discussion and prayer, I was advised to stay in school since many did not have the opportunity I had with a prepaid college education. If I did not like my current major, then change majors; if I did not like my current school, then change schools. I was further warned that if I decided to quit school and go WOW, my parents would be greatly disappointed and be bitter toward the Word for the rest of my life. I stayed in school and later participated in the College WOW program which was one of the greatest experiences of my life. To this day, I fondly remember my college experience which include sharing God's Word, living with other Christian college students, witnessing God's healing power and enjoying a great relationship with my parents. I remember recounting this milestone with Dr. Wierwille years later in the Clubhouse and he agreed it was the right decision. We laughed together that it appeared as a major dilemma because my youthful impatience. There are moments in our lives when a major decision involves multiple factors to consider which attempt to tug us in different directions. I always believe and if you can step back and approach a decision with prayful consideration, and sometimes simple common sense, you will arrive at the best conclusion. IMHO, there is no comparison between your family's well-being and your absence in a program for a year. Enjoy.

  6. With all the current discussions about Doc Vic's stories, and whether there is a shred of believability to any of them, someone reminded me of the Howard Allen illness... and I have to wonder: was any of it the truth?

What I remember being told is that the two of them had been out hunting, and suddenly HA came down ill. Vic drove the camper back to civilization, having to stop repeatedly to keep Howard in bed. The docs couldn't cure him, and it took careful natural food ministrations (and much prayer) to bring him back to wellness.

But all this took place before my twi-time, and in light of what I now know to be pure BS, or stolen ideas, I have to ask... were any of you part of twi at the time? What were you told? What do you KNOW to be true? What do you suspect to be truth? Exaggerations? Patent lies???

HA's illness did occur and the entire ministry at that time was asked to fervently pray for him. He was admitted into a hospital under the supervision of Dr FW. As some of the posts suggest, there was an urgency because HA was beloved by everyone and was Dr's best friend. I far as I recall, part of the remedy was governed by Grace Bliss who was knowledgable of natural remedies and what is now called homeopathic medicine. I remember the remedy was mosty a concoction of freshly squeezed beet juice. I do not remember what the cause or name of the illness but he was close to dying. Contrary to some of the posts, HA was humbled by the experience and was a decent, loving soul for many years. I used to spend time with him and Imogene during my years on Staff teaching them social dancing, (the waltz, foxtrot, cha-cha, swing and rumba) in their kitchen. I last talked to him in 88 and disassociated from TWI when refusing to reply to LCM allegience letter in 89. The demise of the ministry was a sad event particularly when it was helped along by the BOT and others disobeying God 's Word. I would like to remember HA as the kind, caring believer I witnessed over 20 years ago.

  7. Nicole,

My heartfelt sympathy and prayers to you, your sister and your mother. I used to work with your father and knew your mother before they met at HDQ. I have been out of the loop for over 10 years and did not know of his passing. I am sadden he passed away too early. I am not surprised you grew up as a wonderful adult since your father was a loving and caring individual and your mother is a very kind and giving person. I recall greeting them as they walked you to Child care before work in the morning. Please continue to follow in his footsteps for his love for God and his Word was evident. I believe he stuck around with the Way Intl. because he valued and cared for the individuals who were daily trampled on by the man-made rules and regulations added to the biblical teachings. Peter loved God's people and he had a shepherding quality when dealing with them. He probably thought the believers needed his protection. His efforts will be rewarded for he was a faithful servant of God and not of men. Lovingly cherish and guard your memories of him as they live within you.
