  1. This past Tuesday he had reconstructive surgery to remove a colostomy bag which would allow him to use his bowels again.

The doctor said there was a lot of scar tissue and they found more infection which resulted in him having several more inches of his intestine removed before they completed the reconstructive surgery. The doctor was concerned that if the reconstructive surgery did not work that my brother would have to have a permanent colostomy bag. I honestly don't know how he would react to that.

This year has been particularly hard for my family. First, my Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer which had metastasized to his bones. He seems to be doing well with hormone treatment.

Then my brother Ken, listed above, revealed to the family that he had severe financial problems, which contributed in part to the end of his marriage. Not too long after, he had a diverticulum, which I understand is a sack along the wall of the intestine, burst, spilling waste into his system. He had emergency surgery and has had to wear a colostomy bag for the last several months.

Now that he has had reconstructive surgery, I would like to ask everyone to pray for Ken, his recovery, that his body heals, and that he doesn't have to have a permanent colostomy.
