  2. This day in Michigan history, 1975 : KISS Visits Cadillac, MI and Performs at Homecoming Dance! For two magical days in 1975, the rock group Kiss visited Cadillac, Michigan, participating in the homecoming parade, performing at the homecoming dance, and making an indelible impression on the High School Class of 1975 and the entire town. The 1974 team won its final seven games with KISS as an inspiration. The band heard about what we were doing and instantly adopted the Vikings as their team. Then in October of 1975 the unbelievable happened, KISS came to Cadillac High School and played a homecoming concert in the high school gym. See ole Gene and the boys were really ok. Bye the way, Kiss went back up to Cadilac,Mi few years ago

POLITICS is not permitted on the GSC.  The GSC is NOT about politics.

Funny you should bring this up exactly today.

When 9-11 happened, many people felt the need to express how they felt at the moment.  Over time, allowing people to keep talking on that and related subjects- and gradually less-relevant subjects-  led to political discussions that poisoned the atmosphere of the board.  The staff spent more time on the handful of political posters in 1 forum than they did with hundreds of other posters all along the board.   People who wouldn't moderate themselves were moderated by others=  and responded by lashing out at the staff like immature toddlers.   It was a stressful, thankless, NEEDLESS job.

Eventually, the choices were-  remove the political forum and political posts,  or

    remove the entire GSC.

The GSC was never about politics and does not need to be so.  So, politics was deleted. There's lots of places online to post on politics, and there's only one GSC.

If you really can't control yourself, you can always find some other board of ex-GSC and go complain how unfair things are that there's actual moderation here.  You would hardly be the first to do that, nor the last.

Well stated? Someone agreed with interdependance I did not.The darn thread should be deleted then.

  4. The bait with the hook deeply embedded.Still an org, still a based cult of look at us how we are so successful so filled with abundance .Oh afterward to maintain our lifestyle at the expense of yours send us money lots of it you owe it to God.Even though he freely gave Key is freelySure sounds a lot like Joel Ossteen or the rest of the tv preachers

"VPW is DEAD! 37 yrs and counting.

I believe he had a one of a kind ministry. Back in 1980 or so, the coordinator of the music group I was in said that VP was the 7th "THE man of God" and that this was very significant. I never heard that same message from anybody else and I'm not sure what it even means, but I do believe that VPs combination of gift ministries was unique, not cookie cutter. Nobody has duplicated the respect and impact he got from his people."

Ok, leaving aside the usual delusions about how vpw motivated "his" people, and how he used showmanship to INSINUATE he was getting Revelation all the time, and plagiarized his way through other people's writings and conspiracy theory hotlines and make it sound like he was getting that all by Revelation,  and his rephrasing of the definitions of all the "gift ministries" so that he could INSINUATE he had them all when he had none of them,  leaving those aside......

What's this business about "vpw was the 7th THE man of God"?    Who, supposedly, were the other 6, and what did this reference even mean?

Someone once claimed that exactly 3 people in history ever faced the devil directly-  Jesus Christ, Paul and vpw.   Where does this stuff even COME FROM?

No, seriously, I'm asking because I want to know.   Anybody?

The " gift ministries" were massively over played.Just like in the spin offs. The milking of a people to live a lifestyle beyond their means. Most would not live up to the demands of corporate life. The man of God thing  imhp in my humble opinion is a throw back to wanting a king.Christ is the head no one else

One of the oddities of Gurdjieff is he did not teach receive, retain, release.

Instead it was just receive and retain.

He taught that witnessing the principles he was teaching should be NOT be done except in rare situations with a strongly motivated student-to-be.  He taught that keeping it all under the vest causes it to grow, and if you speak it out you lose some of it. So if Dow was a student, the norm was to keep quiet about it.  Being in a church would be another reason to keep quiet about it.

  8. Wrights policy of apprenticeship, students living with the teacher is not new. The idea that Wright just talked while the students worked is like the corps, wright taught not how to work but conceptual practices. Here in Midland, Mi home of Dow Chemical we had one such apprentice. The son of the founder of Dow a Alden Dow. He and his new wife did one summer in Wisconsin .The writings of Dow never talked of his time there or were to my knowledge any interaction with Wright again. Dow went on to win a world wide acclaim on his low bearing house with a pond around it .Gurdjieffs teachings were never mentioned. Dow was a Presbyterian.

  9. Yes his student one Alden Dow came back to Midland,Mi( his daddy was the founder of Dow Chemical) and built his home which is bizarre by any means. In the 40's Dow won a world wide award for his house. Back to Frank Wright a flamboyant dresser one whom thought so highly of himself that us mere mortals trembled.Frank had to have the best of everything no matter the cost. Again sound familiar?

  10. Influenced third wife of Frank Lloyd Wright to hold a school at Taliesin east home of Wright. Each apprentice would live with the teacher and work 4 hours a day for free to learn Wrights style while he did very little but criticize. Students were there 3 months.Male and female. There were arranged marriages. See Ken Burns Frank Lloyd  wright film.

The idea was to live with the master learn hi genius and become better architects. Sound like a program called the Way Corps? some 40 years later?

  11. A bunch of us Seabees took the class.Siganella Sicily not me I was much later had trust issues among others.I did take the class before Diego Garcia. No fellowships as the leader would not do them.So my next fellowship was R O A 77!I did go wow a year later and went back to Mississip
