Does anyone know TWI's current position on this issue? How do they explain the firing of John Schoenheit for rightly dividing the word on adultery?

Surely, they don't dispute the thesis of his paper.

EDIT: JuniorCorps wasn't alone in leaving over this issue. How does TWI defend against this legitimate reason. They must be prepared. After all, those postcards about "coming home" were sent to former dupes they must know left because for this very reason.

These days they don't justify anything. "that was a long time ago. It's OK now". I usually say "The foundation of TWI is rotten. You can pain the walls all you want. "

That's where the reasons given in the Appendices come in.  What should have been so obvious became overshadowed by deceit, lies and powerful positions in twi.

We left not only because he had to write this but because he was fired for it. It made no sense. It made me turn my back on TTW after 15 years. That's how stupidly they handled it.

    Love you man.

No, I'm not having much fun, here.  Look at all this negativity.  If only someone would have taught us to make God's word our own!?   Then, we'd be walking with Jesus and not sitting around crying about decades old offenses.

I love the truth tellers and honestly, a lot of them aren't Christian.  But, they're speaking truth to power and that just warms my heart.

Baldwin seems like an angry man.  Well, rightfully so.  But I've known great joy in the Lord and I can't camp out at angry.

Then, there are a bunch of ministries centered on Holy Ghost whack.  Spiritual drunkenness.  Joy in the Lord.

I'm stuck in the middle somewhere and I don't know how to navigate these waters.  Thankfully I have few pressures and responsibilities and I can take on this challenge to figure out where my mind and emotions should be.

My nose will stay in the Word.

Perhaps you are unfamiliar with trauma, PTSD or the sting of being ripped off. I was about to agree with you until you leaned on the cult trope of "crying about decades old offenses". These offenses include rape, sir. They include taking my teenage friends for abortions financed by a handful of money dipped from a free bucket of cash called "tithes". Perhaps giving your entire childhood to a movement that turned out to be a fraud run by grifters and perverts, stings a little.

"Crying" isn.t weakness. It is a basic human emotions. If you don't cry while you're recovering from a literal attack on everything you are and everything you have, then you're the one with the problem.

And by the way, I don't see anyone "crying" in the replies to your post. I see people who learned the hard way and are trying to warn you that these offenses, not all of which are "decades" old, hurt people. People still haven't recovered. Some people died, MAN. Do you have any idea the number of people who have died as a direct result of trauma from this cult? I have friends who died in accidents and were blamed for not being holy enough. It's gross.

There is also no rule that says if you're "crying" about the way's literal crimes, that means that we aren't walking with Jesus. That is a fallacy. Both things can be true. You can walk with Jesus and be wise to The Way's bullcrap. And when we meet a person who says they went to HQ and everyone was so nice, we want you to know that trusting in this group will deceive you and you might not even know it's happening. If you want to stick your hand on the burner to see if fire is really hot, go ahead. You've been warned. But don't pretend that we are all crying. We were trying to warn you.

  4. The foolish man built his house upon the sand and the rains came down and the floods came up...

Glad they were nice to you. They are a poorly researched, mean spirited cult who worshipped a man and paid the price. They turned a blind eye to

assaults of all kinds, theft, adultery, abuse of children and they separated families. This went on for decades, heck half a century plus. But I am glad they were nice to you.

The question is - will they bring back the shower tent?

If you weren’t there picture a tent with hundreds of naked men or women all out in the open with no curtains showering off like cattle. I was a teenager and it was mortifying.

Let’s not forget the drugs and orgies in tent city and LCM ranting for hours under the big top.

Remember when the WOWs got cancelled for being “infested with homos”? Maybe they will bring back LCM to see if the new ambassadors pass his “homo sniff test.”

Any other Rock of Ages nostalgia? It’s fun to reminisce.

Their beliefs are too weird to attract any new people in large numbers so they turn to the good ol’ days and hope people will come back.

Ironically, I had made peace with the way and never thought about it until I got one of those post cards which brought me back into looking at this site and revisiting how screwed up it all was.

what a sad bunch of whack jobs.

The burgers were good. That's because Doc came up with the idea for McDonald's.

The showers were traumatizing for teenagers. Completely ridiculous.

Is anyone likely to sue them for using it? Btw, it sounded more like Good Seed to me. I'm an old guy, I could be wrong.

Did they do "don't stop speaking"?

You wouldn't need to sue but a cease and desist would be fun.

Wonder what happened to any of these CORPORATE ASSETS.  Cars, motorcycles, plane(s), bus(es).
Should have been sold if surplus to requirements, and the money go into general residue for the benefit of those entitled under the CHARITABLE PURPOSES of TWI.
I'm guessing that the charitable purposes could well have been the private, individual, livings of head honchos.

The more abundant lies life, and all that, y'know.

It was called the Twig Hopper because he was supposedly going to use it to visit twigs around the country. What a joke. The Way of Ohio  limb hq. was about a 2 hr. drive from Int. HQ. How many times do you think he ever bothered to visit the FellowLaborers program during the 3 years I spent there? If you answered zero, you win the prize.

He came to dinner in my wow vet home in Boston. he showed up in a sedan driven by someone else. I was 11 years old. i remember asking "where's the motorcycle?" and VPW told me "it's parked". I remember thinking "no crap it's parked. i didn't think it was floating in the sky". Later that night I was reproved by my twig leader for being out of line. I was a kid. i just wanted to see the motorcycle. This happened to me a few times where I got chewed out for being a kid. So while hd did visit our twig, there was no bike and we also had to give him all of our money. The ABS wasn't "enough" so the twig leader made the 4 adults in the wow vet home cough up their pay checks. They were so blessed lol

  9. Dr. W, a Priest and a Rabbi are on a sinking boat. Priest gets out, walks on water to the shore and survives. Dr. W gets out, walks on water to the shore and survives. Rabbi tries it and drowns.

Priest says "We should have told him about the rocks'

    Dr. W says "What rocks?"

Hardy har. Heard this joke a million times in TWI. To review. Dr. W is a diety, the Priest used a trick and the Jewish guy dies. None of this is a funny joke. This is an antisemitic joke. Funny how time reveals a different perspective. "At least the priest was a Christian."

  10. Thanks for the replies. Growing up in this cult really did a number on me. I was afraid to ask questions and instead of thinkign that was not OK, I thought I was being decieved by Satan and it was him who was putting the questions in my mind. Think about being 9 years old and thinkign Satan himself is weaponizing your thoughts as a way to attack the Way. It's soul crushing. I just wanted the devil to leave me alone. In reality the devil had no interest in me at all. ugh

  11. Even as a kid this bothered me. Most Chritians take Genessi 1 as a linear account. Not TWI. If I remember correctly, the fall of lucifer comes up much later in The Bible.

Does anyone remember what logic or scripture was used to justify claiming that Lucifer's fall happenes between Genesis verse 1 and verse 2?

Also worrisome to me back then was that they taught us, correctly, that the serpent added a word, changed a word, removed a word to change what God meant.

Then TWI  does the same thing saying that Genesis 1:2 "should" read "and THEN the earth was without form and void".

Where did this entire theory come from?

These types of things bothered me then but I didn't dare ask. Now here I am 40 years later still pestered by these thoughts. I often come back to "how did anyone fall for this?"

Whenever vpw visited a place, they assigned people to buy his creature comforts out of pocket (like bottles of Drambuie as one poster reported- their first experience buying alcohol.)  On top of everything else, they took up collections of nice, untraceable cash which was handed over to vpw in a bag. I'm sure he was happy not to report that to the IRS.   He also made no secret that he could-and did-  go to the twi treasurer whenever he felt like he needed some cash, and got it.   ALSO, a LOT of things owned by twi were reserved for his SOLE use, and he called them "MY STUFF."

If there is a "special hell" for child molesters and people who talk in the theater, I hope vpw gets imprisoned in its worst part.

He came to dinner at our house once. It was such a big deal and yes he got an envelope full of cash and Dambuie. He also did thtree things that would have put the rest of us in the reproof line; he drank and smoke at the dinner table, he had hus elbows on the table and was swearing his head off in front of my 5 year old wow sister, f bomb after f bomb. And we all smiled and thanked God for the privilage.

  13. Forgive me if this has already been discussed but i was talking to a friend from Junior Corps and she reminded me that I had said that this motorcycle was the frist time I thought TWi was being shady. It was either at The Rock or Corps Week. They had us all "give" (no pressure or anything lol) so we could buy a "surprise" gift of a motorcycle for VPW with a side car for his wife. I remember feeling ressured and lied to. How on earth was this going to be a surprise? With all the money we give, we have to give more so he can have a fancy bike? i brought it up at a Junior Corps meeting and was yelled at and sent to bed. Loudly being reproved for being right is a terrible way to raise a child.

  14. This post got me thinking about something that's baffled me for decades. I often think about TWi when Chritians are so strongly pro-life. Other than The Way, are there any fundamentalist groups who are openly pro choice?

This is not a post meant to debate abortion.
