  1. Forgiveness is such a complicated issue... There seems to be many colors to it.

only God can forgive some one their sins so what is Christ talking about when he says to turn the other check

    to forgive 70 times 7.

We do not hold the power to forgive a persons sins. so I wonder if it means more for you to understand what the person did and why. I do not believe for a minute that forgiving some one for an atrocity that they perpetrated on me means that I am to lower my guard and allow them to take advantage or hurt me again. Forgiving them does not ever mean that I need to continue on in their company and if that person is purposefully going out to do harm to others I believe it is my spiritual obligation to warn other people.

The more I read this thread though the more I realize I really do not understand what exactly Christ meant by forgiving others ... and now I do not trust any one else's study of the scripture and half the time I worry I am not reading it correctly myself.

  2. I want to add a bit more to the sex organs in the hair thing too... There was a lot of publicity about subliminal advertisement not to mention tons of conspiracy stuff going around about who was controlling things. Lots of big brother stuff. it was a very paranoid time in the US... Since most people just repeat what they hear and read.. they don't really do the research themselves.. He was probably spouting the same stuff he was hearing. and it all dovetailed nicely with the vicsters take on the world and fit with what he was feeding the Corps then.

By the way this wasn't just stuff put out by the way it was pretty much standard in the press and in the news.

There is still lots of it today you just don't hear it shouted fro the roof tops as much as then

But I would definitely want to know more about his beliefs before I voted for him.... but then I don't live in Maine and I am a democrat.. and found caribou barbie completely annoying.

  3. People stay or stayed because it became their whole frame of reference... We are pack animals we need and want to live with other humans and we prefer that they have similar interests to us.. similar activities.

People were effectively cut off from any or almost any outside influence. They had no way to tell if things were normal any more. Also the changes were gradual.

Also it is one thing to sit here and say oh all this was going on but really no one knew about everything

you knew your little picture of TWI.

I know for a fact because of how things were run when I left versus how they were run by the time it was 2000 versus how it is run now are very different situations.

There were things that were wrong form the beginning but no group or church is perfect.. so you recognize that and choose to stay.

You are deeply ingrained in it before you have enough pieces of the puzzle to see it is an issue.

Then it is difficult to extract your self.

  4. For me it is that it is not enough anymore. The standing up and singing and sitting down and listening

IT is no longer enough for me... I want more!I don't want just three versus with an explanation. I want to sit with other people and really learn it so yeah i don't go to church. I did for a little while when my girls were little but it just didn't work anymore.

  5. I know right? It is almost embarresing to say I was in that,no wonder NO ONE is speaking

    out! :biglaugh:

That little artious <_< ship is going DOWN like the Titanic baby(hope they get enough life

    rafts !

    God bless em all!

Okay so I know they are totally geeky looking and all but it was really cute because you know they put some thought and preparation into it.

I do wish though I could say jump into the water there are less sharks there than in that boat you have yourself on.

  6. We have made this alot now, it is good.

    Chef,

I have a sauce related question. . . have you ever heard of cloves and sugar in Spag sauce? I make it from scratch--I mean tomatoes--not the can--and I use 8 cloves and a cup of sugar. IT is one of the few things I cook well. It makes it sooo good.

Ever tried it? Really curious if it is a common thing or a passed down family thing.

Not cloves of garlic. . . .cloves. I do this with jar stuff do doctor it as well???

The Sugar cuts the acidic of the tomatoes and the cloves enhances the flavor.

Another thing that can really give sauce a boost is red wine. IT gives it a richness. even jarred sauce.

By the way jarred can not touch the stuff you make yourself. But in these times of two working parents and no time to cook jarred sauce can be a sanity saver.

Another trick unrelated to spaghetti sauce but for Chili is add cocoa powder.

  7. I have been lucky in that I have never hooked up with one of those .. Well except for the cult thing. But I say I am lucky because really most everyone can fall for that kind of relationship... Some people just extract themselves quicker. So they have less hurt.

  8. My son bought a Dell Dimension 4700 a few years ago.

About a month after he got it the fan started making an ungodly racket but didn't seem to be overheating.

Technician came right to the house and fixed it, no charge.

About a year later, he got a laptop and gave me the Dimension.

A week later it did the same thing.

I bought a replacement fan on-line for 4 or 5 dollars, put it in and the problem was solved.

Fast forward another 10 or 11 months.

The same thing happens again so, after listening to it for 2 or 3 weeks, I bought another fan.

The very day it arrived, the fan stopped making noise though it was running.

That was 3 weeks ago and still no noise or overheating. Almost like it healed itself.

    Any thoughts?

I had this happen on one of our work computers it was making the noise and then seemed to get back in to the correct position like it had gotten jiggered off track or the fan was crooked. Mind you I had moved the computer before teh noise started... and it did Right itself before I got the computer opened.

  9. Goey, I am rethinking. I'm past not being able to stand hearing bad things about VPW, long past it. Give me a little time. I have apoligized once, I hope that is enough. My tone is not meant to be vitriolic. Sometimes reading something intensely personal in print sounds in the mind's ear of the reader to be other than it is intended. Apparently that has happened to me. And I can see by the replies it has happened to some here too. But give me a little time, as I said. I don't feel holier than thou, and I did not mean to come off that way.

Hi Mike... I think you would be surprised at how kind people here have been in replying to you... and Yes you are right it is very easy to misinterpret what people are writting in a forum... any way forgiveness the kind yu are talking about is of course a process, for everyone. Gooey made some good points though and I think you may find that as you spend a bit more time here you begin to really address some of the issues you have set aside. (As I am doing)

I hope you come back more and you may want to read in the thread on forgiveness there is some powerful stuff in there and if you really want to find out what was going on at the top read some of the articles on the main page not just the forums It will give you a new perspective on your life and perhaps some of the stuff you learned at TWI and maybe bring a bit of understanding about your wifes dealing with her issues from her childhood you mentioned.

Any way as I said before welcome and I hope you continue to post

Any way again I say welcome to the forum from one new person to another.. and d

  10. Twinky, if you need to leave the kitties at home, this is what they'll be doing.

    post-193-1229559709_thumb.png

We always leave ours with a person feeding once a day as we have chickens and Sheep that need attention too. they just hide from the feeders and eat when the feeders leave.

when I come home they do one of two things either I am their long lost Mother or I am chopped liver and no one meows a meager hello for one day then back to normal

  11. gc.. here is a list of some tomatoes I had success with in our cool foggy region.

I have gone to the smaller varieties as they do the best here.

if you can find them San Francisco Fogs are awesome .. they are a heavy bearer and do not mind the cooler days and lack of sunshine.

Also tops on my list are early girls and better boys

better boys need more sun but early girls always make it here for me

I have had mixed results with Ace tomatoes such that I have sworn off them for next year.

Also if you can find them Azoychka's should work real well where you are.

They are an early ripening Golden Variety from russia.. I plan on giving them a whirl this year

You may also want to try some of the orange varietals if you can find them .. They are another early ripening tomato.

For peppers I will add try the golden and the orange peppers again they like the cooler weather.

And Japanese egg plant which has done excellent here. They are smaller and not so guishy inside.

  12. Awww... This year one of my big successes were the japanese egg plants they love this SF bay area west coast weather. and my onions and garlic were also above and beyond happy with the weather this year.

We are past when you are really supposed to plant a winter garden but next weekend I am going to plant the cabbage onions and spinach ... I haven't tried snow peas but I should.. hmmmmm...

Kimberly have you ever planted sweet potatoes. I would like to try those this year, in the spring not sure if we get warm enough during the day for those... We actually get warm but when the sea breeze kicks up in the summer it can get quiet chilly in the afternoons.

  13. Oh My how did I miss this thread..

I wish I had been on earlier I would have told you about the Borax Laundry soap.. I had tried all the same things as you for this one area in the dinning room.. It is wall to wall carpeting. and I will eventually have to get it removed and Hard wood floors will go in .. But I found quite by accident .. that the borax not only killed the kitty pee odor but also deterred the peeing activity. Now mind you .. it does wear off so it has to be reapplied but it did last for a whole year. and no more added cat pee to the spot. This also could be because the corner has been thoroughly saturated by boy cat pee,

Any way it may work on your white carpet so that you don't have to get rid of it.

As to sedating the kitty... I don't know of anything... but I do have a suggestion for getting the skitish kitty into the carrier.

Catch cat. hold carrier up on end dump kitty bottom first into carrier and slam door shut.

or easier but involves a lot more time.

get kitty cornered under an end table that is blocked on all sides put open carrier up as only exit from under coffee/end table and gently coax kitty into carrier and slam carrier door shut.

OR a third method.... if your kitty likes boxes get a box and wait for her to get into the box and go from there with either of the two methods for putting kitty in the carrier.

I have used all but the box method and they work.. Both methods have long and funny stories that go with them.. One cat was my Mom's and she did not like me but had to come with me to go to the vet and then get flown to my home. The other is my resident feral cat who has taken a long time to just let me pet him. But he needed to go get snipped.

I will say one thing about sedatives and kitties .. Some kitties will wet them selves when they are on a sedative and it starts to wear off. this makes a big big mess in a carrier.

  14. Some of the refugees from the early Way Corps could probably answer that definitively, but I think that the first one or two groups did not have to jump through the hoops that later groups did. I seem to recall Martindale (2nd Corps) talking about taking the Advanced Class after entering WC training. (Early on there was no separate "Intermediate" class. What was later expanded into the Intermediate class was a segment called T.I.P. (Tongues, Interpretation and Prophecy)

I guess I am fielding this one.

I am a spouse of a ninth corps and have only had PFAL.. they did not have the intermediate class when I was in twi from spring of 79 until spring of 83.

I went WOW with just the class under my belt.

There were no advance classes offered in the areas I was in while I was there or I probably would have been in one.

I believe at the time i was in twi you could join the corps with out the advanced class but you had to take it shortly after getting into Corps.

But my memory could be wrong on this, in fact I am thinking it was only offered to Corps or those entering Corps then. and it seems like you had to have gone through the PFAL Class at least twice before you could take it.
