  1. We had a little corner store owned by a chinese family.....my two favorites were the same as they are today.

Beef jerky ... only then it was fifteen cents

SWEET TARTS....can't remember the price but I am sure it was less that it is today.

So Jim....my little store was on the corner of 9th street and Santa Clara Avenue, across the street from the Santa Clara Pharmacy. Yours?

  2. After I left staff at twi hq...I worked for a defense contractor. My "doogie howser" child genius boss would throw out things that "I should do." After 9 years on staff in which a suggestion was the same as a directive.....I would hop right on it and just about the time I finished it....he would change his mind. So, like Radar O'Reilly on MASH........I would be all finished with my task, just in time to go back and re do it all. Very Simple....but just for all of you that don;t know....I am not MALE, NOT short and don' wear glasses. :)

  3. WOW you guys, a gal stops posting for a couple of years and she comes back to find one of the most stupid posts in the history of gspot or waydale.

Come on Groucho my love, direct your rebellious energy towards something like finding out exactly how many people are still on staff, or obtaining a copy of twi's latest LTC list!

BTW.....nice to see you all :redface2:

  4. The corps night telephone hook-up in which Chris Geer first read POP was heard by Corps on the field, that was April 23rd 1986. It was then read to a couple of hundred invited guests in May of 1986 in NK. That year during corps week it was read out loud from under the big top (talk about a horrible week :realmad: )

It depended on where people lived, and who the field "managers" were, how much they knew about pop. Some local leadership were very protective of their folks, others made sure everyone knew every jot and tittle.

On March 8th 1988, lcm made his official break with gartmore and sent out that icky "who do you stand with?" letter in which he gave the 50 limb coordinators, all paid field staff which was @ 100, and all of the way corps grads an ultimatum about who they stood with. That event was a defining moment in the history of the way, and really started the mass exodus.

Somewhere around here is a thread entitled "A night that will live in infamy," it is long, but it describes the original reading of POP and the following events.

  5. For some of the time I was on staff (85-94)only the staff, way corps and wows were required to wear their nametags. Basically, as of March 1989 all

VISITORS were also required to wear names tags, because the "New Knoxville Vice," also known as the way safety department were afraid there were cop-outs

    sitting in the audience.

    Little did they know.............

  6. This afternoon the TX supreme court (what a scary thought) ordered the Yearning for Zion kids back to their parents/the YFZ compound. I am sick, I mean literally sick enough to vomit about this.

Is it just my own past, having grown up in a cult? This whole situation has been giving me nightmares.......keeping me up at night. Do I just need to schedule an emergency appointment with a shrink, or are any of you feeling this unsettled?

  7. I have lots of old recipes too....they were / are my grandma's (she would be 104 now) and my mom's. JJ your hassenpfeffer & spaetzle rocks!!! That was a family favorite and we had it at least 4 times a year, one of those times was on my cousin's bday. We each got to pick our favorite meal for our birthday, his was ALWAYS rabbit and dumplings (the english translation :biglaugh: ) with chocolate cake and boiled frosting. She also made kick foot squirrell with mashed potatoes, alot of fabulous food was a "poverty food," which is what most of our forebearers had to make do with.

There is an old Frugal Gourmet cookbook called "Our Emmigrant Ancestors'" which is full of poverty recipes, I have a recipe book I bought at Ellis Island, that has recipes from emmigrants that came in at Ellis Island...........what a treasure.

    Fun thread!

  8. Hi Chas,

Check out Petfinder.com and go to the breed rescue group, there should also be some transport links from there.

Also, you can check out AcmePetTransportation.com, they basically do the "train thing" the Dot mentioned but usually it is only for shelter moves. Someone there should be able to send you very helpful.

  9. He went by Danny Stevens back in the day. He was either 12th or 10th corps (one of those EVEN NUMBERS  ) And yeah, he was on LEAD Staff.

    Edit:

One of my best friends on staff had been madly in love with him..........I just looked at his bio, gosh, is he ever YUMMIER than ever!!

  10. Recently in the state of VA, a man was sentenced to prison for a rape he committed over 20 years ago. As a part of his 12 step program he wrote the woman he had raped at a frat party years before, apologizing to her and leaving it up to her as to how to handle the letter and his apology. She took the letter to the police, and he was sentenced to jail time. THIS offender did it half way right, he at least took steps with the VICTIM, and let her decide.

If Anothen is TRULY interested in coming clean and attaining forgiveness there is really only one option (IN MY OPINION,) and that would be to drive himself to the closest police department and turn himself in. In most states nowadays, the statute of limitations runs out in a set amount of years from the DATE OF DISCOVERY, not from the date the offense occurs.

The way I see it, there aren't too many legal and moral options for this situations............do the right thing, hmmmmmmm.

    ***here is the edit:

Oh yeah, as Abi said, I am not qualified or trained to give advice to a rapist, or sex offender.........this is just how I see it.

  11. Waysider,

Even TWI didn't endorse murder, even behind closed doors (and YES, I know what I am talking about, and YES, in this one statement, I know I am correct :eusa_clap: )

One of the benefits of a thread like this is to expose TWI and it's inner workings in the following light:

Twi ROUTINELY put(s) it's followers at risk by putting immature, ill advised and improperly trained people in leadership positions.....from the bot/bod down to the twig/fellowship and wow family unit levels. As stated earlier in this thread, there was an early corps grad that murdered his parents, there were NUMEROUS corps grads that tragically commited suicide as well as this tragic situation in Norway (God knows how many situations were kept completely silent.)

For example, while in residence in 1983 I had been assigned to hitchhike from KS to HQ with another 13th corps person, he was "the guy," I was "the girl." During the early days of Waydale, I found out that before this guy and I went into the WC, he had murdered his wife with a shotgun after finding her in bed with another man. In the state he lived at the time (before he took pfal) had a "heat of passion" law on the books so he had done a VERY minimal amount of time in the pokey.

He eventually became a region coordinator  I was quite close to he and his wife, I worked in the twi trunk office....but learning that info makes my blood run like ice. He had a horrific temper and to this day, I can recall events that worry me about him having oversight of God's people, or ANY people for that matter. This topic is difficult, and it is uncomfortable........but it is something that needs to be brought back up periodically so that as each new generation of twi follower breaks free, and as each "innie" reads this thread.........they realize the type of organization they are / were a part of.

  12. One of the gals was in the (I)international 15th corps and her name was Irene. I can't remember her last name even though she was my roomie in residence. She was beautiful with white blonde hair and a perfect complexion. She was great friends with Gru Christiansen.

Any other (former) 13th or 15th corps out there remember her?

  13. I have been to a number of conferences that Wayne Dyer and Dr John DeMartini have been featured speakers, both are a part of "The Secret." Both are exellent speakers, both FAR EXCEED any speaker I ever heard during my 28 years in twi. That said, I agree, The secret is alot like pfal..........but their basic premise is different. DeMartini and Dyer come from the Depak Chopra school which teaches that "the universe provides" as opposed to identifying the power as the power of God.

Last year at the "Parker Seminar" in Las Vegas (a seminar for Chiropractors, John DeMartini started as a chiro) my boss asked my why I wasn't taking notes when John was teaching. I told her he was cute as a button but I could teach HIM a few things if he wanted to hear his teaching with bible references.

Whatsup.......if it makes you happy........coooool. But, do you REALLY need a PFAL clone to put its mark of approval on your life now? Are you still in twi???? or are you out?
