    It's just another pathetic troll for a fight. Still, the moderators have chosen to leave it

    Are you referring to the moderators on JWO? There's only one moderator, and he's the owner of the site. And I know he counldn't care less about anyone's "trolling for a fight".

    We've had far worse on JWO than "troll for a fight". And Zixar my dear, you are just a little fish in the big sea on JWO, so no one really cares who trolls for fights with whom.

    Yes I was trying to humor you, that is suppose to be funny.

    Yes, the Bible only talks about "lying down" with someone, it doesn't specifically mention sex.

  3. Jonny,

    You bring up an interesting point about abuse in cults, and how people can tend to dwell on the negative so much that the positive aspects about a subject such as sex can be downplayed, even ignored.

    Religions play a large part in demonising natural instincts such as sex, and put unnecessary taboos into society, such as "we don't talk about sex". But everyone thinks about it!!!! Unless you are pre-adolescent or have a decreased libido for some reason, of course everyone thinks about sex (usually the lack of it, haha)!

  4. Funny thing is, British tv has no qualms about flashing breasts on the small screen, same as with European shows.

    But I've noticed that American tv is very reluctant to do the same.

    As for Aussie tv, we find it hard to keep our clothes on!!

    I think that this site reflects the average American when it comes to discussing sex. Most people in the U.S. simply don't talk about it much, except for teenagers who obsess over it, and older people who condemn it. Also, as others have pointed out, TWI had a lot of sexual abuse, so it's difficult to have a light-hearted conversation about it when so many people have told stories of their rapes and such here.

    Funny you should mention nationality, because Americans are perceived as being "prudish" when it comes to sex.

    After all, look at the uproar at the exposing of a single nipple at the Super Bowl recently. icon_eek.gif

  6. You mean to say that Zixar went to all the trouble of registering on JWO just to post this:

    quote:
    Several people have asked me to stop lurking and answer the vile allegations made against me by certain former and current members of the GreaseSpot Cafe. So be it.

    1) I do not have hemorrhoids.

    2) Pawtucket is not my bitch.

    3) If I have a diseased penis, Rocky must have had a cold sore.

    Apologies to the JWO veterans I may have maligned without cause, and as for the disgruntled and petulant former GreaseSpotters, you're more than welcome to them.

    Adios,

    Zixar

    Prisca, when you say "... the others mean nothing to us," that better defines the cynicism I see than any "rebel spirit" you perceive within yourselves.

    Just calling it as it is. If you don't like it, then that's too bad.

    On this site you are a big fish in a little pond. Elsewhere on the net you are a little fish in a very big pond.

    Well managed, RF. icon_wink.gif;)--> Hope it works out for you.

    Hate to tell you this, but the only JWOers who have posted on that thread about Zixar are RF, JanH and LongHauler(Doug). None of us are interested about who said what on GS many moons ago. Satori, Zixar and the others mean nothing to us. They have no significance.

    Sorry guys.

    I believe that Refiners Fire has also been banned from this site.

    Cynical because we have learnt that not to accept everything at face value, but to investigate claims and statements. Some people may call that cynical, I call that common sense.

    Good according to whom? And why are we expected to "discern" this?

    Yes, some times it gets quiet on the board. But we can amuse ourselves, thank you very much.

    And where are the threads where we schemed to pick up some ex-cultists and play with their emotions? This is what you are trying to infer, aren't you?

    icon_rolleyes.gif:rolleyes:-->

  13. I think this thread should be moved to JPS.

    Zixar should post his thoughts about JWO on that site, if he has a problem with anyone. I'm not naive enough to think that Zizar has done nothing to stir up these people. Why he has to post here to try to gather sympathy rather than face his critics like a man, beats me.

  14. Thank you to everyone who responded to this thread.

    Personally, I don't necessarily bring it up unless I think there's a need to. And it's usually with people who know me well, and it has to be within the context of the conversation. But otherwise, I don't go mentioning it to anyone.

    icon_smile.gif:)-->

  15. Paw,

    To me, moving a thread to "Just Plain Silly" is a less-than-kind way of saying "this thread isn't worthy of being in the General forum". Maybe it has to do with the reception I received from a certain few on this board. Maybe it has to do from recovering from the cult I was once in.

    Although, considering that I meant this as a serious question, and then find the thread moved to the "Silly" forum, I found this action strange. Particularly since it was moved so quickly after the thread's inception, without letting the thread develop a character of its own yet. How was anyone to know if it was to become "silly" or something of general consumption?

    I also find it interesting that my thread was moved, yet others which could be considered "off-topic" for the General thread remain unmoved. Combining that with the general vibe I've received from certain ones here, it does seem as though I am being singled out.

    Or, I could be just being paranoid.

    icon_wink.gif;)-->

  16. Once you have left the TWI, have you told people about your expeience? When people ask you about yourself, do you mention that you used to be in a cult? Do you think it defines who you are/were as a person? Or not?

    It's a bit of a debate amongst ex-JWs whether it's beneficial to let people know of their background. For people like me who were born into a cult, it is a strange experience to not be part of one. Hence, explaining that we were once JWs helps to explain what would otherwise be a very fragmented personal history.

    Others prefer not to mention it. Some cite reasons such as not wanting to be defined as being an ex-cult member; not wanting to appear abnormal. Others prefer to put the experience far behind them, and never mention it again.

    So what do you think? Do you let people know that you used to be in The Way? And whether you do or not, what are your reasons?

    Thanks.

  17. Yes, unfortunately sex is often abused within cult settings, and for ex-cult members this can be a trigger for bad experiences/memories. It's a shame that something so good is turned into something so evil.

    Re Paw, I hold nothing against him. He has tried to be fair, and I understand what a difficult job it would be to be an administrator of a board like this. You can't please all the people all the time, eh?

    Melbourne is at the bottom of mainland Australia. It's the capital of a small state called Victoria. It's winter here ATM and cold winds are blowing about today. It doesn't snow in Melbourne, but I think the winds are coming off some snow-covered mountains north of us icon_frown.gif:(-->

    Thanks for the welcome. I've met some really nice people here.

    The irony is so delicious. I wasn't going to mention on JWO about the Sex thread being delegated to the Silly Farm, but the way these two threads have turned out, it is going to be a bit too tempting not to.
