  1. Linda what they said.

Shellon, Right now those sayings are reverting to standard ones based on number of posts. When GT gets back from the advanced class special at HQS, he'll look at it.

George, I have tried to recreate your scenario on three different computers. If you are geek-inclined, go to the start button and then click on RUN. Type in CMD. You will get a command line prompt. type in the following "ipconfig /flushdns" That will clear any DNS junk and then try to get to that page. Make sure your browsers are all closed at the time.

Chat may be in the forseeable future, although I am told that not many are using it. My main reason for it was so that new people could float in and "talk" to someone. But if no one is there, that won't be helpful.

  2. I tried it and it works fine. What was the error message? Did you try a different browser or clear your cache?

I don't know if this is a "post-upgrade" issue, per se; but when I try to open the "Songs remembered from just one line" thread in the Reading Room, I get a big error message (and it won't open). I don't seem to have this problem with any other thread.

    George

  3. Paw, sometimes it can get a bit difficult to keep a thread on topic. You've seen the posts where the starter has tried to bring it back, and just one or two have tried to carry on bickering.

Ability to lock might also be useful if despite a call back to original topic, a thread veers off on something worthwhile and then a new thread could be started and the old one locked. Especially with the multi-quote thing, if previous posts can be copied onto a new thread.

But some threads really do just go on and on and on (yawn) way from the original matter about nothing in particular or denying another poster's PoV/experience. Or they end up as a mud fight. Then the mods shift them to Soap Opera.

    Just a thought.

Then I would have to answer to ICACTOGS (International Committee Against Closing Threads On GreaseSpot)

  4. I think that the person that starts a thread should watch it and get it back on topic. Not many do that. And the moderators certainly don't have the time or inclination to check threads to see if they are staying on topic.

I'm not sure about the thread starter closing the thread. Could be a problem. We'll think about it. My main concern is that someone with something to add wouldn't get a chance to do so.

  5. I received this by email today

    Dear beloved ones,

God bless you in the name of our soon returning Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Connie and I wanted to let you know our own dear daughter, Kristyne Crawley, fell asleep this past Sunday morning and awaits the return of Jesus Christ. Many of you knew Kristyne and her dedicated service to God and His precious children. Kristyne earned her degree in practical theology from The Way International. She was first and foremost a wife, mother, helper in her community and a good minister of Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her parents, Larry and Connie Panarello, her wonderful husband David M. Crawley Jr., and her two beautiful sons, David Lawrence age 12, and Michael Anthony age 7. There will be a memorial service held at the Faith Evangelical Free Church on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in her town of residence Acton , MA . She will be greatly missed by the believing ones, her community and the many thousands of lives she has touched over the years.

Connie and I will be moving to Acton , MA immediately to help care for our son-in-law and two grandsons. We plan to continue to minister the Word of God and His mighty power. We will provide teaching CD’s and downloads as we have been doing however, until we can get all the logistics worked out and things set up, please bear with us.

We are still available to you by phone at 614-738-9791 and by email at minister@bgm-usa.org. Thank you for your support in the past and in our continued outreach of God’s boundless love. Mail will be forwarded to us in Massachusetts until we can set up a P.O. Box there. You can continue to Bountifully Sow by our website or at Beloved of God Ministries, Inc., P.O. Box 0894, Westerville, OH 43086.

    Lovingly,

    In Him,

    Larry and Connie Panarello

  6. Love the upgrade. Nice, Pawtucket :)

Oh, gosh, I've messed up my signature and don't know how to fix it :(

In any event, Happy Sunday (since you aren't a father yet, or at least to my knowledge).

Thanks should go to GT, he's been the one that downloaded the entire forum, backed it up, upgraded and now is tweaking the whole thing.

  7. Well it seems that the only person with IE 6, has an alternative way of accessing the forums.

We will announce when we do the upgrade, I believe the forums have to go offline when we do it.

  8. I got sick of my XP machine. I put Ubuntu on and added a Terabyte drive, moved my iTunes library over there. I love it. I am dabbling in MySql to take the place of Microsoft Access.

What's not to love, there is a Linux app for just about everything in the Windows world. My computer is much faster than when I had XP on it. There really isn't a downside to the whole thing. It plays well with Windows and Macs on a network. I've installed probably 30 different apps and not once did I have to reboot!!!!!

  9. Discuss the subject matter, not each other. NO personal attacks!!! This includes, but not limited to evaluations of someones mental or physical state. Even if you do it subtly -- Dooj!!! Why do you think the anonymity of a screen name gives you any kind of license to make judgment calls on others? It doesn't. I don't think any of you would do that face to face.

  10. GT has been testing the latest version of the software that powers this forum. This software has been in testing for quite some time. Invision Power Boards has been my choice for the past 4 years or so. They are meticulous in their planning and this latest version adds many features that have been requested for a number of years. The layout has changed and the pages are more dynamic when you change the width of your brower. Better security against spammers that are registering on a daily basis. A better layout for your profile and your info. Private Messages have been upgraded to Private Topics so that if you and any number of people want to discuss things, you can do it in groups. The one downside is that it no longer supports Internet Explorer version 6 or older. So anyone using that version, needs to upgrade to 7 or 8. It is a free download from Microsoft. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-...er/default.aspx You can use the latest Firefox (I like this better than IE) www.firefox.comApple makes a browser called Safari. Their latest version has a very cool feature called, cover flow. http://www.apple.com/safari/download/Opera is another option that you have. http://www.opera.com/Google has a browser called Chrome. This would be my last choice of browser, as it is still very young - development-wise. http://www.google.com/chrome/Check what you have currently, so that I can get an idea of what kind of time frame we should set. Thanks

  11. I was on a date in Santa Monica at the movies with my then girlfriend. We went to the early Sunday matinee, less people. There was a couple in front of us. The lady got up, she was very pregnant. It was Kim Bassinger. But the guy that was with her had this very strange hair.

After the movie, my girlfriend went to the ladies room as did Kim. I was looking at the upcoming movie posters and just across from me is the guy with the bad hair and he was wearing glasses. As I stared, I realized it was Alec Baldwin wearing a wig and fake glasses.

Kim came out of the bathroom and he grabbed her arm and they ran out of the theatre.

  12. Twinky,

I didn't send the email, so ignore it. The funny thing is, not everyone in my address book got it, just some.

I got it too. This "tagged" thing has been around for a month or so. I automatically delete any indirect invitations, as they are usually spam of some type.
