Here one to ponder while hiway busys
........., I got a problem. Do you know a reporter named Phil Gum from Action News?
I don't watch the news. I make it.
So what's the problem?
He chose you!
Why me?
Because, on paper, you have a perfect arrest record. You have put over a thousand men behind bars. God knows if any of them are guilty of anything!
They look guilty to me.
You don't seem to understand the point of my dilemma. I've been fighting with city hall for over two months now. They're talking about making cutbacks! The mayor is threatening this entire department! Do you understand what I'm saying?
You want me to kill the mayor?
No! I'm saying this report will help us or hurt us. It could be good PR or bad PR. I'm ordering you to act responsibly!
Don't worry captain. Me and my one-man band will give them a little wholesome family entertainment!
..............., put that gun away.
NOW GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!

"You want a piece of my heart,
You better start from start.
You wanna be in the show?
Come on baby, lets GO!"
my first wife use to dream about this band...
Loverboy
Workin for the weekend
Heres another one from the big-hair-band days
They cry in the dark, so you can't see their tears
They hide in the light, so you can't see their fears
Forgive and forget, all the while
Love and pain become one and the same
In the eyes of a wounded child

I ned to hold back on this one Raf...I worked for a Chicago based band in the 70's and one of the members of that band survived to play in this one.. so I'll let another have a shot at it

Tall Cool One Robert Plant
Wanted a woman, never bargained for you.
Lots of people talk and few of them know,
soul of a woman was created below.
You hurt and abuse tellin' all of your lies.
Run around sweet baby, Lord how they hypnotize.
Sweet little baby, I don't know where you've been.
Gonna love you baby, here I come again.

Incidently, the second pic contains a group who's name is often connected with executions, but they do much more than just that. The "21 Gun Salute" that Suda mentioned is among them.
-
Is this from the very early days of TV?
Was there a show called "Dumont Presents"... (as in they're "presenting arms")
Good guess Tom, but not what I was thinking..the second pic is Firing rather that Presenting Arms.. If you remember, In the "present Arms" position the rifle is upright, perpendicular with the ground, and centered on the body at eye level

some of you youngster may not recognize the first pic

Oh Cosmo help me out here
-
here's one that was kinda fun...
Walking through forests of palm tree apartments
Scoff at the monkeys who live in their dark tents
Down by the waterhole, drunk every Friday
Eating their nuts, saving their raisins for Sunday
Lions and tigers who wait in the shadows
They're fast but they're lazy, and sleep in green meadows

No idea on the latest post. Sounds vaguely familiar.
But, Wasway, no good band efforts since DD?
Check out "Ocean of Tears" or "Nice and Strong" from The Paul DeLay Band.
Not new, by any stretch, but much newer than DD and both solid "band" efforts.
Point is--- music no longer comes looking for YOU, you have to go looking for IT.
Lots of great stuff out there right now but most of it is not mainstream.
Actually WS I mis spoke.. Rio was the last Record Album that I bought.. started buying CDs .. But
There have been a few bands that I liked Post DD but not many Matchbox 20 comes to mind.. for one.. Pearl Jam and Phish as well...then of course Lou Gramm went Solo in he late 80's and even did a sound track for "the Lost Boys" which included "Lost in the Shadows" which was pretty good
