  1. Drive-ins are the greatest!! We have one here that charges $3.50 only if you're over 9 and on Thursdays it's $3.50 a carload!

They almost always have first run movies - we don't go nearly often enough! Hmmm. I wonder what's playing tonite?

  2. I make a pretty good macaroni and tuna salad and also taco salad, which I thought I'd fix for starters.

I'm flexible and pretty good at teamwork, so count me in on helping with meals and whatever.

I'm not big on baiting hooks, but I like to fish if somebody will put the worm on the hook for me...

I'm pretty sure we're driving up, so will bring a couple coolers and when we get close to the park, will stop and pick up some food and drinks. (note to self - check airfare TODAY and make decision!)

Rascal - I had NO IDEA people buy hot dogs by the 80-pack, of course YOU would know that, but for some reason, that really cracks me up!

I'm so looking forward to the weekend! I'm taking the princess out of school that Friday so we can get an early start.

    Woo hoo!

"We're gonna have a real good time together!

We're gonna have a real good time together!

We're gonna have a real good time together!

    Oh baby, please!!!" icon_biggrin.gif:D-->

  3. Very cool, Sudo.

I thought I was excited. I just showed the website to the princess, reminded her that rascal's daughter that we met last winter will be there, and she went wild!

By the way, I did kinda neglect to mention that she (the princess) snores AND grinds her teeth. So, if you hear ANY noises from our end, it's HER - NOT ME!!! It is kinda a cute lil snore, tho...

It's gonna be a great weekend!

  4. Sudo,

The princess and I would be delighted to sleep with you and Abi and 1000names - oh, does that sound right?

Can I send you money for our share today? Do you take Paypal? Lol. I can send you a check or something...

I was so sorry to miss the last one - I was considering buying a tent, but if you have room for more, well, we're more!!!

  5. Abi - Am glad to pray for your family. I'm doing a similar thing - I work at home so that I'm always available just in case my daughter needs me.

No doubt there are many toddlers in need of a fine daycare provider such as yourself. I'm confident you'll have all 3 settled in plenty of time for your switch.

  8. A man returns from a trip to Shanghai and is feeling very ill. He goes to see his doctor and is immediately rushed to the hospital to undergo a series of tests.

The man wakes up after these tests in a private room at

the hospital and the phone by his bed rings.

"This is your doctor," says the voice on the phone. "We have the results back from your test and... I'm sorry, you have an extremely contagious deadly disease known as GASH.

"GASH?" replies the man. "What in the hell is that?"

"It's a combination of Gonorrhea, AIDS, SARS and Herpes," explains the doctor.

"My gosh, Doc," screams the man in a panic, "what are we going to do?"

"Well, we're going to put you on a strict diet of Pizza, Pancakes, Quesadillas and Pita bread," says the doctor matter-of-factly.

    "Will that cure me?"

"Well, no," says the doctor, "but it's the only food that will fit under the door."

  9. Z-Shot - That's happened to me and I have told people that I have developed a sensitivity to smells, even ones like their perfume that I actually like, but they wreak havoc with my respiratory system.

And I tell them that since this has happened to me, I have found a surprisingly large number of others with sensitivities to smells.

That way I compliment them while hopefully making an impression on them.

SimonZ - Yes, you are correct. It is spelled booger. Being the pro I am, I declare me an authority. Pro speller that is, not pro booger hanger... icon_eek.gif

Actually, my experience has been more in telling people they have things like broccoli stuck between their teeth. I always try to find a way to tell 'em - I would hate for someone not to tell me not that it's ever happened to ME, of course!!! icon_rolleyes.gif:rolleyes:-->

  10. Thanks so very much for your prayers. It made such a difference once I posted and knew that there were now more folks praying than I could know. Truly, such a comfort to my heart.

Mom took her last breath early this morning and the sun came up anyway.

I'm so thankful her suffering is over.

I had the sweetest phone conversation with my ex - we cried together over the phone - only the second time I ever knew of him crying.

I thank God for her wonderful life and for the great hearts that make up the Greasespot Cafe.

  11. I'm divorced over 10 yrs. from the family, yet we are still "family" thanks to their graciousness. (They have forgiven me for chosing twi over them.)

Mom has terminal cancer, has been through the chemo and now has moved to the local hospice house. Dad, their sons, and bowtwi jr. have all shaved their heads in solidarity. (Her long red hair is all gone, of course.)

She has said all her goodbyes and is ready to go.

Please join me in praying for her peaceful passing and for all the aching hearts involved.

  13. Happy Mother's Day to you too, Coolwaters! Ain't it grand!

My 6-year-old declared it Mother's Day Weekend yesterday - she was too excited to wait til today to gift me!

Between Sunday School, her church's version of Girl Scouts, and the public schoool, she has presented me with 3 physical gifts that she made herself.

Today, I was awakened with a bowl of generic Lucky Charms in her favorite bowl and a glass of chocolate milk (which she promptly helped me drink half of icon_smile.gif:)-->). Truly, the breakfast of champions icon_eek.gif

This was followed by a backrub!

We're going to drive an hour to bowtwi jr.'s and ride with him and his girlfriend to a Roman Catholic church for a baptism in his girlfriend's family. After that, it's to the girlfriend's sister and brother-in-law's home (it's their baby that's getting baptized) for a cookout and swimming in their pool.

We have spent most holidays with these people the past couple years - they're from Brazil, so we get to enjoy another culture up close.

I love Mother's Day - I get to be with those I love the most in the entire world.

  14. I just discovered that when I clicked on Trefor's name at the left of his post, I was given several options, one of which was to start a private topic with Trefor.

There may really be more than one way to Chicago after all...

  15. Trefor - welcome to the GS - I'm delighted you're here. I'm so glad twi never hurt you over you being gay - it seemed to me that our goal was to be Christlike, and I just don't picture him falsely accusing people or cheating on his wife...

I'm looking forward to reading your story - it seems to help to hear each other's experiences on this healing journey.

There's a whole lot of good going on in the world and I for one am very glad to be able to participate.

One more thing I'd like to say to you - Happy Easter!!!

  16. I've heard from so many GSers since posting my story - this is an amazing and wonderful collection of people that contribute to these forums!

I've learned that when the family corps coordinator told those in res. about my son and me being m&a that he said that when he held my hand he could FEEL MY evil! Oh, how extra spiritual he had to be, ya know?

This was the man that after he asked me if I would sell my car to pay a debt, put his arm around my shoulder in a very comforting manner as he told me I didn't have to sell it - that he asked only to see my committment level to the corps program. He smiled as he tenderly looked into my eyes and assured me that I would need my car in order for my son and other corps kids to attend extracuricular activities at the high school.

He did this knowing that it was a scam - he let me unpack our stuff and settle into the campus and TWO DAYS later - verbally assaulted me and kicked us off of "their campus."

There's more, but this incident really makes my point, so I won't go on and on.

Bowtwi Jr. and I are living well and I really do believe that the only revenge worth having is living well. I thank God for the peace that's in both of our hearts.

I don't believe that lcm and his "gang" have peace in theirs.
