    Built by Austal Limited

    THE AUSTAL STORY

Austal Ships commenced operations in 1988 with a vision to build high quality commercial vessels for the international market. By the company's fifth anniversary, Austal had become the world's leading manufacturer of 40 metre passenger catamarans and the dominant supplier to Asia.

It was in Hong Kong as early as 1993, that Austal introduced gas turbine propulsion and the first two installations of the Austal developed Ocean Leveller ride control system. The success in Asia and the introduction of a range of sophisticated, large vehicle-carrying fast ferries were the springboard for ongoing growth in Europe, the Mediterranean and the Asia-Pacific.

Today, Austal Ships is the world's largest builder of fast ferries and is proud to list amongst its customers many of the world's leading fast ferry and shipping operators.

Austal listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in December 1998 and has diversified its product base through acquisitions of Image Marine and luxury motor yacht builder, Oceanfast and through the establishment of Austal USA in Mobile, Alabama.

Collectively, the Austal group provides one of the most substantial product bases of any shipbuilder worldwide.

  2. Funny ..I consider myself a Yankee fan.. I watch maybe 2 games a week..not always in their entirety. My business is very busy when baseball season get going so I can't always get to see the games. I try to get to two games live a year.

But... yesterday in Florida..the Yanks played the Red sox in pre-season game. There were actually people scalping tickets and people were actually buying them. Those folks are wacko fanatics. The starters on both side only play an inning or two.

    Here's the article

    ___________

Yankees-Red Sox the Big Ticket in Grapefruit League

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Fans hoping to buy tickets to the first regular season meeting between the New York Yankees (news) and Boston Red Sox (news) better start saving if the first spring training meeting between the two on Sunday is an indicator.

Tickets for the game in Fort Myers, Florida on Sunday, which normally go for $21, were selling for $500 outside the park according to some television reports while touts were seeking as much as $1,000 on the internet.

The 7,034 seat stadium attracted a sellout crowd, with some fans camping out over night for the 100 standing room tickets.

Commemorative pins were made for the game and sold out by the fourth inning.

The game, won by the Yankees 11-7, was the first between the two traditional rivals since game seven of the American League (news) championship series last October.

  3. John Henry Williams, the son of Hall of Famer Ted Williams, died Sunday morning. He was 35.

A Red Sox spokesman confirmed the death of Williams but gave no details, SportsTicker reported.

Williams was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia in October. He underwent chemotherapy for several weeks, but his condition did not improve. He then underwent a bone marrow transplant. His younger sister, Claudia, was the donor, according to his friends and associates.

Ted Williams' brother died of leukemia when he was in his 40s.

John Henry tried his hand at professional baseball in summer 2002 with a low-level Sox minor league team, but his attempt ended after two games when he crashed into a camera well and fractured a rib. He tried to revive his career in the independent leagues, but many baseball experts believed he started his career too late.

After Ted Williams died July 5, 2002, John Henry Williams was at the center of a controversy surrounding his father's remains. Williams had his father's body taken to Alcor Life Extension Foundation, an Arizona cryonics lab, setting off a battle with his half-sister who said her father had wanted to be cremated.

John Henry and Claudia Williams claim they and their father signed a handwritten pact in November 2000 agreeing that they would be put in deep freeze after death.

The matter was settled in December, when Bobby Jo Ferrell, Ted Williams' oldest daughter, dropped her objections. Just last week, however, Ferrell's attorney demanded that Alcor release copies of a document that would show Ted Williams agreed to give his body to the facility.

Attorney John Heer, representing Bobby-Jo Williams Ferrell, said that Alcor is required to comply with his request under the federal Uniform Anatomical Gift Act and a similar state law governing donation of human organs and bodies for medical research.

Alcor Chief Executive Officer Joe Waynick said last week that Ferrell gave up her rights in the matter when she entered into a settlement agreement two years ago in the Florida courts.

Ted Williams finished with a .344 career average and was the last major league to bat over .400, when he hit .406 in 1941.

You've jumped from one cult TWI to another DNC. It's as if you are so entrenched in believing that there is truth in politics. YIKES.. thats an oxymoron.

  5. The Atkins diet is dangerous for many reasons, but I won't get into that here. I'll just say that if you value your colon, kidneys, heart, etc. then you won't go on this fad diet. The founder died of a heart attack after all, while weighing 250 pounds or so.

    ___________

P-Mosh ...once again you show your stupidity. He did not die of a heart attack. He fell on icy stairs outside his Manhattan apartment which caused serious head tramua. Fluids built up in his system which is perfectly normal for that type of injury. He eventually died from this accident.

Are you saying to Sudo he's wrong? Just like you do in the political forums you are the master at ignorant drive by attacks. Get honest in your research.

The Truth About Dr. Atkins’ Weight

    By Stuart Trager, M.D.

At the time of his injury at the age of 72, after years of following the Atkins Nutritional ApproachTM, Dr. Atkins’ recorded height was 6 feet and his recorded weight was 195 pounds.

In today's Wall Street Journal a grossly distorted story on the health of Dr. Robert C. Atkins reported that he weighed 258 pounds at the time of his death, making him obese. In fact, the day after his fall, Dr. Atkins' weight was recorded as195 pounds, 63 pounds less than reported at his death! Based on the body mass index (BMI), a desirable range for people over the age of 65, is 24 to 29. At a height of 6 feet, Dr. Atkins’ BMI was 26.4, putting him squarely in the normal range for his age.

The Journal article was based on incomplete and inaccurate personal medical information that was released in violation of federal law. Furthermore, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), which, despite its name is a group of animal rights activists, illegally delivered these documents to the newspaper.

Dr. Atkins' weight was consistently and frequently documented in the years and months prior to his fall; as he was suffering from cardiomyopathy, his health was monitored closely. Despite this, he regularly played tennis, his favorite sport. His weight at his death was a result of water retention. During his coma, as he deteriorated and his major organs failed, fluid retention and bloating dramatically distorted his body.

Any implication that Dr. Atkins was obese prior to his accident shows a blatant disregard, or even worse, a twisting of medical facts surrounding this case to suit an agenda. One would also expect knowledgeable physicians to have a better understanding of the physiology of severe heart failure and the degree of fluid retention that occurred during this hospitalization for severe brain trauma. None of us would expect the physicians at PCRM to reveal any of this in light of their past and current motivation—but surely as medical professionals they understood that this weight gain was not due to obesity.

  6. A Japanese toy maker, Takara Co said on Wednesday it would launch a device called the "Meowlingual" that can interpret a cat's meow, telling you what your pet is saying. Takara?s hoping to repeat its success with the "Bowlingual," a dog translation device. It's true!!

What we really need is a politicianlingual device. A blinding light and electrical shock goes out of it whenever a politician lies (Buy extra batteries icon_biggrin.gif:D--> icon_biggrin.gif:D-->) paralyzing him/her for their entire term of office. When they leave their office the only side effect, on the day they depart from Washington, will be a total lack of sex drive only to be stimulated by the ingestion of reconstituted Florida orange juice.

  8. I started it about 2 months ago after discovering I had high cholestrol in January. My doctor put me on Lipitor 10 mgrms back in January along with the usual recommended diet of low fat- low carbs . I still couldn't lose any weight and my cholestrol levels stalled at around 250 which was still too high. Dr.recommended I move up to 20 miligrams of Lipitor.

Well instead of going that route I chose to try the much maligned Atkins diet. After reading his book and sticking to his plan..I have gone from 205 lbs down to 180 and lowered my cholestrol to 150. No more controversy with me about Atkins..it works and from a practical point of view thats what really matters. Just don't try walking down icy stairs in Manhattan.

I use to take long naps and lacked a sustainable energy level. Now I have plenty left over and feel like a Stud in heat unlike that horse that won the Belmont yesterday who had lots of enery but no package left to deliver if you know what I mean? icon_wink.gif;)--> icon_wink.gif;)--> icon_biggrin.gif:D-->

    hint: gelding icon_biggrin.gif:D-->

I still eat butter..steak..eggs...love those omlettes..yum ..with cheese...margarine sucks!!! It comes down to...why eat what fat people eat when you can eat Atkins. icon_razz.gif:P--> icon_biggrin.gif:D-->

    Hey..just funnin..don't throw your diet coke at me..please icon_biggrin.gif:D-->
