    Heh heh heh.

George thought he was completely lost, and he was.

    Was this Simple Minds?

If it were true that bands had to tour together on the basis of their names

(Styx and the Stones,  Ratt Poison...) , then this band was the one that would have to tour WITH Simple Minds.

And she could see a nearby factory.

She's making sure she is not dreaming.
See the lights of a neighbor's house.
    Now she's starting to rise.
    Take a minute to concentrate
And she opens up her eyes."

    "Rising up above the earth.

    Moving into the universe
And she's drifting this way and that.
Not touching the ground at all
And she's up above the yard."

No time to think about what to tell them.
No time to think about what she's done"

    She had a pleasant elevation
She's moving out in all directions,"

  4. Then how about

"Lay Your Hands On Me",  by The Thompson Twins.

(A band of 3 people, none of whom were twins, none of whom were named Thompson, all of whom were named after supporting characters in "TinTin."  For the record, those guys, Thomson and Thompson, were not related by blood, but appeared like identical twins, making them "twin" but not "twins.")

    Enjoy.

Thank you for making this happen.

Now, people looking for updates on a 17-year old topic won't think there was news when there was not, and the new guy who had something to say has the appropriate venue in which to say it.

Naturally, now that this is the case, we've probably heard the last of him.

Reminds me of "Life is a Rock" (long list of names) but clearly that's not this one.

    George

I first heard OF that song around 1989-1990.  I first heard that song around the end of last year.  I don't think Billy Joel was inspired by it when he wrote this song. He actually started with an attempt to write a rap song, then discovered he couldn't write rap songs, so he started over.

Moby Dick....at least the line was in the novel, which I suspect was used in the movie.

I would expect so.  It was also in "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen", but I'm confident he wasn't quoting that movie at this time.
